Did anyone else NOT get a cover for the recessed area of the Trunk? My Delivery specialist said they weren't delivered with the vehicle but I would still get it, but I'm not confident. {Edited} I got the left one also, not the center one. I did get the privacy screen. Glad I'm not alone
Mine were missing at 8/25 delivery and have still not arrived.

I opened a service ticket so we'll see what they say. I'm not very confident they will know which cars didn't get them and then just send it to us without some prodding. It seemed like some of the more recent deliveries are starting to get them so maybe they'll be back in stock soon.

Has anyone received a VIN that is not able to pick up their cars due to travel?

Murphy's law of waiting for my VIN since mid Feb (LR, 19, MSM, Blk), my EDD is getting closer/tighter around next week. Unfortunately I may be out of town for a couple of weeks and will not able to pick it up (if the EDD sticks). Anyone else miss their date and have to get back in line? What does that look like (timing) and risk of the price change kicking in (I am pre Price increase since I ordered in Feb).

Thanks
I say reach out to your SA/ Sales Center. Give them the info and they'll give you options avail in your area.
FWIW, I too had no VIN, and I was going to be out of town for the first part of my EDD range (was late Oct- mid Nov). My SA told me to have all $$$ together and be ready to possibly have another trusted agent arrive in my place (w a note from me) to take delivery. If that made me uneasy, he'd look into pushing it back a bit (5-7 days- but not enough time for me, alas). OK, long story short, so I do all of this pre/ rearranging, then.... Turns out, my EDD just moved out another month this AM. UGH! Hope you'll have better luck.

ABS Modulator Assembly 🤦‍♀️

I'll be sure to mention that to my SC, thanks for following up. Preliminary remote diagnostics point to "front right wheel speed sensor" – have never heard of such a thing, but I hope they can fix it for the fastest production car in the world 😅 They haven't had a chance to get the car into service yet. The wait is almost worse than before getting the car.

My service appointment was like 1.5 months from when I scheduled it lol, still waiting for it and I've had the car for almost 2 months now.

Each wheel has a rotational speed sensor on it. It is used by the ABS and traction control system.

ABS uses these inputs to detect wheel lock up during braking. It’ll modulate the brake pressure to give you maximum braking for existing traction conditions without locking the wheel up.

Traction Control uses these inputs to detect wheel spin during acceleration, and it will reduce power to that wheel as needed to stop the wheel from spinning too fast… think of it as anti-burnout. This gives you maximum acceleration for current traction.

The Torque Vector system uses these sensors, along with current vehicle speed, accelerator pedal position, and lateral/longitudinal G forces to apply more/less torque to each wheel as necessary.

This Uber Geek message brought to you by home roasted coffee being drunk waaay too late in the day. :)

Tesla Model S PLAID Delivery Day!
I asked Alset, my PPF installer if they
had noticed any imperfections after having more time with the car.
Paint, panel gaps, interior...

I was thrilled with their response:
Nothing crazy so far, or at least nothing we haven't been able to correct really easy.
Out of all the S plaids we've had down here, yours is definitely in the best shape.

They sent me a few photos of the work in progress. The PPF is already installed on the hood. They will be giving me a video of the installation when I pick it up next week. I will put the video on YouTube and post a link here.

I'm in the first day of my latest EDD (I hit the EDD range 2x this month already and the range changed each time to a later EDD range the day after I entered the EDD period). So now I'm focused preparing for pickup (yay), inspection and QC issues when I saw this video on YouTube titled "Tesla Model S Build Quality is Trash"

Maybe I'm too forgiving but the TRASH build quality issues pointed out by the YouTuber look really minor to me. If this is what I get, I would probably have Tesla look at 1 or 2 things but would be dancing on my way home. I think almost every car I have ever purchased has had similar issues and think the video is showing pretty normal stuff but I might be too forgiving.

LR, MS with black interior, 19" wheels, no FSD, ordered May 1 in mall, current EDD 9/21-30, SA in mall told me I was slated for October production, RN1148
I was surprised to hear his comment that the backup camera resolution is low--even worse than older Tesla models. Is that true?

Your car is just beautiful. Tesla really does red right.

But The Wife has spoken… ours will be white. Still nice, but that red though…<sigh>

I had my T in the front replaced with a carbon fiber one. I had the T & PLAID on the back painted gloss black (contrasts the now satin panels). They look tight, as the Pitch Guy would say. I could have had PLAID removed—they offered—but, that’s what it is and I’m not a fan of debadging. I do agree that having those bits be the only chrome is weird, especially now that the T E S L A banner across the back isn’t chrome.

I briefly contemplated an actual splash of color (even imagined yellow because I’m a yellow jacket), but to pull that off I’d have to paint the calipers the same color I think, and I just didn’t feel like it.
@HFh Love your car, looks amazingly tight, bro. You MUST go for that Yellow Jacket look w/ yellow calipers and post pics. Do not be a lazy sod, man, come on! You know how we who shall not get close EDDs are all living vicariously through those of you who have already gotten cars!
Btw, can I send you the bill for the stealth wrap that you (& so many others on TMC) have now convinced me of getting??

My Plaid red, white, cf, 19", FSD delivery date just went from Oct 23-Nov 12 to Sept 24-30. Now I have to sell part of my Tesla stock quickly. Plus I am leaving tomorrow for a one-week vacation that I may have to cut short. I did not get a vin so maybe I will get a later delivery.
Avoid selling your stock to buy your Tesla.

Do what Elon does: borrow against your shares.

That way you keep your shares, and the interest, AFAIK, is deductible on your taxes as an investment expense.

Huge benefit: more money when Tesla starts paying a dividend . . . .

Just called Tesla and they pinged my VIN. Hasn't left the factory yet but the person I talked to said it'll probably closer to the 22nd-25th than all the way out to the 27th. It's about a 6 hour drive from Fremont so it would have to get on a truck today or tomorrow to be inspected and ready by the 25th.

EDD: Sep 22 - 27
Called again just now and they said it's in preproduction...getting conflicting answers...have a wrap appointment on the 27th. Don't know if this will happen in time and sucks to hold an appointment if it doesn't get here in time...

EDD just changed to Sep 24-29. Called again and they still say it's an unfinished vehicle so it sounds like I'm waiting for some missing parts (guessing white seats) plus delivery. It's clear they're really pushing for an EoQ delivery. I released my appointment with the wrap shop though since it's cutting too close now.

As a fellow MS owner and Valencia resident, love to see the car or help with the inspection if you need another pair of eyes...PM me if interested...
