Update on DCU for those that care:

BLUF: DCU has a lot of red tape, checks, and procedures that introduce latency to their lending process, making the whole ordeal much more difficult than I would have expected for a professed online banking institution, but their employees are ON POINT, and will seriously bust their humps to assist you (once you can get them on the phone).

With delivery looming tomorrow morning (and confirmed by phone today), I needed to get my MVPA to DCU and get the photos/tracking info of the loan check to Tesla by today. What I didn't realize were that there were several intervening steps in there, but I'm glad to say that the fine folks at DCU really took care of me, despite the ridiculous wait times for call ins.

First, this morning I actually got a call from a rep telling me they needed the MVPA, and talked me through the process. I got off the phone and contacted my SA, and he provided me with an updated MVPA (changed from previous lender to DCU) by 0930. I used both the DCU doc submission email I was given as well as the automated doc submission tool on their website to upload it. Gave it another hour to process (recomendation by the first agent I spoke with), then called back knowing I would be waiting another 2-3 hrs for a callback to speak with an agent.

The callback indeed came about 2 hrs later, and I spoke to another agent, and explained my time sensitive situation. He looked over the loan, ran through all the disclaimers they need to verbalize, locked in all the details, and told me that they needed to send me the disclosures agreement to docusign, and after I signed it, their team would need to process, have others print the check (the agents on the phone are mostly telework), then send the check to the mail dept where it can be scanned. That sounded like at least 3-4 different opportunities for lag to me, any one of which could blow my carefully choreographed timeline. That said, the guy I was speaking with basically stayed on the phone, got his booking agents approval in real time, walked me through the docusign, and then assured me I'd have the check scan and info by COB. We hung up at 1430, and I had the scan and info by 1445. If I could buy this guy a beer, I would, because he was the man.

To folks who aren't embroiled in this process already, it felt like in normal circumstances where the borrower isn't hounding their folks every step of the way, it would realistically take 4-6 business days from application to when you're fully approved and a check is mailed, and that doesn't include the membership application, which had already taken me 2 (and would have taken longer normally).

I got it all to my SA and made the small remaining payment through the app, and I'm 100% green lit for delivery tomorrow. <fistpump>

Hope that helps people considering DCU. Sorry for the wall of text.

Ugh. My trade in (2019 M3P) expired last night and I'm scheduled for delivery tomorrow morning. Really worried it's going to drop in value (cause that's just my luck), even though I haven't really been putting miles on it. Currently at 26.3k.

IamGaryGnu, you had this happen recently just before delivery, right? How did you get them to value it quickly so you could take delivery? It usually takes 3-4 days for me to get a valuation. I think you said yours actually went up a little? What were you trading in? Any reassurance you can offer is welcome! 🥺
You may actually see an increase in value. I had received an offer for $1,100 more than an offer they made less than 2 weeks prior. They had offered $41,400 for my RWD FSD M3 with 47k miles, was pretty surprising. Funny story, they offered me $30k a year ago when I had 30k miles on it.

Yep, it did go up by $200, which was pretty nice.

Just have to say, us M3P owners got screwed on the resale end compared to the RWD and AWD variants. I got $49.5k for my 2019 M3P (with FSD, though that doesn't matter for Tesla trades) with 23.6k miles on it. Heard about people with AWD LR model 3s that got more with more mileage. Vroom and Carvana were worse.

Don't get me wrong, I still count myself lucky as I'd be way worse off if the used market weren't so strong, but I don't understand the LR vs. Performance pricing anomaly.

did everyone's EDD just change to "TBD". Seems like I'm not the only one as both my orders just went to TBD.
Yup. Mine was March 18th-31st. And it just switched to TBD this afternoon. My guess is some system that it uses to get that information went down and it defaults to TBD...or something major is going on and they pulled a bunch of our estimates.

Mine just did. It’s funny that I had mentally prepared myself to put my order on hold to wait for new headlights and as soon as I thought maybe I had a VIN my mind just went to “gimme gimme gimme!”

OK - Forgive me father, I am here to REPENT for my SINS!

TLDR: I got fed up and tired of thinking about the Model S and I just decided to blow some money to drive one (from Turo). I had to go about two hours away from my den and the only thing available was a Plaid with 19s.

Let's just start off by saying this... THIS *sugar* SHOULDNT BE LEGAL KIDS. MY GODDDDD.

The first time I floored it I:

i: blacked out
ii. laughed so freaking hard I nearly wrecked this poor peacock's freaking car!
iii. had the realization that life is too short to be responsible with money

Tesla has ruined my life. I'll never be able to enjoy roller coasters again. It was like for the first time I was truly alive. I damn near called my doctor to cancel my Viagra ON THE SPOT!

OK OK so with the acceleration out of the way - I love the damn screens. Lucid calls it an ipad on wheels? Screw Lucid.

BBS - Big Beautiful Screens, that's what I call em. I love how responsive the center one is, how quick the apps runs. How it can actually hear my roar and navigate to places.

The yoke. Much love baby. This is hands down top 3 thing of this car. Feels like Im driving a ferrari, except its quieter, faster (and handles better, screw you ferrari!).

The car's cabin is pretty quiet on the 19s. Not really sure what would make it more silent at this point. AFAIK this peacock didnt have ARNR but I dont care. Also, the stereo system sounds pretty much the same as the peasant teslas, not sure what some of you are talking about. Hearing loss is my guess! (snicker, snicker).

The car's build was decent, though not amazing. This peacock got their car just a week ago and decided to let dumbasses from the internet like me drive it because, they need money...? (want to share the joy of Tesla?) I just decided screw it. If its good enough, its good enough (I love my torturer I know).

Why did I do this? Well because I thought about all of these other EVs coming out and there's something wrong with each of them. Crappy range. Crappy infotainment systems, crappy apps, crappy dealers, supports jeff bezos, etc. Every time I asked myself what I would change it was basically just turning it in to the model S.

WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE OLE' TIGERS?! Well, my peasantmobile is still on hold. I want it. I need it. But I also want that tilting screen, new tail lights and new headlights so might as well see if Tesla is going to update them soon.

Regardless, let the pain and suffering begin! IM BACK BABY, IM BACK!

I love the Plaid but I'm poor and I know I'll never drive it the way I did today every day so it wouldn't be worth the money. Or - maybe I would drive it like that every day and be in jail within hours. I wouldn't do well in jail.

Anyone have a read on whether or not "cash" vs "financing" plays a big role in VIN assignment? Is it actually advantageous to put "cash" then switch to/back to "financing" after VIN?
I thought it might, but for whatever it's worth, an SA told me it didn't matter, and in fact, to put in the financing which I then did, and i changed it the day before I picked up my car. I don't think it hurt me at all.

I have never seen a better use of font size!! lol
And I am glad you were able to get your paws on one!
Regarding sound system, if the rental peacock doesnt have ANC, then probably the audio wasn't updated? I remember a update came along and made night and day difference.

@Tigers I always said this car was the best in the world, but it wasn't until I too experienced Plaid IRL that I fully grasped that. It's a wonderful, beautiful, spacious, practical, hyper-advanced piece of machinery that we're so lucky exists!!!! It is truly, and I mean truly, remarkable. :)
Does it really feel that much more spacious than the 3?

Congratulations on the beautiful ride! Enjoy it!

I think this line of your post really sums it up - not just on this thread/TMC, but in general. Always good to keep in mind. Also, I'm glad you didn't get taken for a ride (pun intended) by the scammer and all worked out!
thanks for the good words. I built up the courage to try insane mode tonight - to me it felt identical to plaid. my buddy with the plaid drove my car last night, and in sport mode, he drove it hard and said it felt exactly like the way he drives his plaid (we don't go to the track much around here). Insane mode felt identical to me - until i floored it - then head snapping. i had a different buddy try it - he was blown away, and didn't like driving his mercedes after.
I thought insane would be like my prior benz's sport versus economy - quicker shift points (in the benz of course) and snappier response.
my experience (subjective) was it handled identically at regular accelerator pressure, but when I floored it, watch out.
then again, i didn't floor sport mode much yesterday.
HEAD SNAPPING.
This car is a beast. I'm probably going to learn like 3% of the nuances per day. if that.
