I hope this forum does not go the way of LinkedIn and get political. Some of these views are ironically biased and wrong. They do not add anything to the thread and are just a jab to someone on the other side of the aisle - whichever side that is. I love good Hillary and Trump jokes but some of these stereotypical labels are just asinine. I go to many car forums and they seem to lean one way or the other but here, there are quite a few of both.

Yeah, threads can go downhill fast if they degrade into political finger pointing. Hopefully we can discuss what happened here without making assumptions about the guys political views. What he did was wrong, period. Even if he dislikes Teslas, or the Tesla driver did something annoying to him, it still would not be an excuse for that behavior. He would have done better leaving a note on the windshield if he felt he had to tell the Tesla driver something.

The guy is wearing a very patriotic Stars & Stripes shirt and doing a very un-patriotic act. Just sad.

He's driving a gas guzzling truck that runs on Texas crude and EV's are putting the heat on the oil industry. In his mind, he is doing a very patriotic thing. Notice the grimace on his mug as his key makes contact with the Tesla. He is full of hate for these electric cars!

Such a ridiculous statement. I live in the heart of oil country (literally the area of town I work in is called the Energy Corridor) and do you know how many Teslas I see every day? Dozens. And quite a few of the owners drive pickups too!

So really, take this BS stereotyping out of here please. Thanks.

That's a whole lot of inferences to be made about someone you saw in a video keying a car, who may just be angry because he couldn't open the door enough to fit his grandson in as easily as he would have liked.

You really have no idea who he is or what he believes so going down this path is just not productive.

Fair point. Kinda like when certain persons labeled all Mexicans as being rapists/criminals, no?
;-)

I really wish that people wouldn't infer so much into a simple video. Political affiliations, hate of green cars, hate of Tesla, etc. I mean, come on people. Can we just start by assuming the simple theory that the car was parked a lot closer than he would like? Not sure how many of you are familiar with pickup trucks, but on a full cab, the rear doors are HUGE. So to me, this is the most likely scenario.

Yeah, still his fault, and sure, absolutely a scumbag for doing it. But I have to say, I've had people park ridiculously close to me, enough that I've thought about a little retribution. Yeah, I'm big enough to admit that my temper rises and I have stupid thoughts. Never have, though, because I don't want to be this guy. But I can tell you one thing.

not once did I give a crap what kind of car was parked next to me.

Maybe after this election cycle, I'm just tired of all the blame game, finger pointing, etc. How about we just call this guy a POS for keying someone's car and leave it at that?

Let's not confuse the Green New Deal with the recently proposals for EV tax credits and incentives to add sustainable energy.

The Green New deal is more about destroying our present economy to save the planet from total destruction in 9 years. They want to tare down more than build up. It's about closing refineries, outlawing gasoline and diesel powered transportation, shutting down oil and natural gas power plants. It wants to punish people who work in industry that does not support the GND and reward those who work on projects that they believe is necessary to save the planet. It proposes to take from those who do well in going green and give to those who have a poor carbon footprint and supports politicians world wide like the Paris Climate Agreement. From everything I have seen the GND is a political money grab for the wealthy big carbon footprint hypocrites.

The tax credits for EV rewards those who choose to switch to electric powered cars and trucks. It does not punish anyone or any business. It doesn't matter who proposes it, it's what it does that matters.

You don't have to be a GND card carrying member to enjoy a Tesla or other EV for it's benefits. In fact many Tesla owners I know think the GND political game is a scam. This is not to denigrate anyone who believes in the GND. It's your choice. Just keep your fingers out of my pocket! :)

AMEN!!! I like you!

To be fair, GND aside, the current administration and Congress are very much in favor of pushing sustainability.hence why I think it is, now more likely than it has been in years, likely that an extension/expansion of the EV credit program will happen.

As for the GND itself, the idiotic AOC can stuff it where the sun don’t shine.

I’m pro environment but I am also a realist.

???? Why? Totally agree the US is better than Guatemala and a handful of other countries. Am I being too ambitious to think we should strive to be at least in the top 20 nations instead of just taking some odd pride that we're not in the bottom 10? Have our standards really sunk that low in the last 4 years?
It sunk the last 8 before the last 4

Why do people always choose some failed colonial dictatorship as an example of socialism?
Why not a successful nordic country?
(Neither of these are socialist but nordic social democracy is closer to the truth.)
truth of what? And lets just ignore ALL the failed ones? No thanks I will stay in this terrible country. Again, if its so bad, why do so many do everything thy can, both legal and illegal, to come here?

While you're here... why not help make it a bit better by at least voting people into office that support the idea of making it better? Is it really worth deaths and higher electricity rates to avoid a federal agency telling you to do things you should be doing anyway to ensure reliable electric supply? No? Then maybe stop supporting those that do think it's worth it. It is ok that the US is the only advanced nation where you can lose your home because you get sick? No? Then maybe vote for people that would like to adopt health systems similar to countries where this DOES NOT HAPPEN.

The US is WAY better that Guatemala.... congrats. You're proud of that? Why? Why not strive to be more like Denmark, or Germany or Norway or Canada or France or Sweden or Ireland or Taiwan or Australia or Finland.... instead of being oddly proud things aren't as bad as Guatemala? If people in Central America could get to France by going on a hike and climbing a fence I'm sure they would stop coming here...

Why do you think many Americans seek healthcare in Canada and Mexico?

Welcome to the current times. Anyone who does something bad must be from the opposite end of the political spectrum, Facts be damned, it keeps the cognitive dissonance to a minimum for people in their respective political echo-chambers.
