Will Tesla try to recoup the $5k back from me? i guess thats my concern and plays into upgrading or not

Legally yes - go read the terms they are very clear on the website - the terms of the rebate state that:
1 - you must hold the car for 12 months
2 - if you sell the car before the 12 month period, the dealership or store is required to recuperate the rebate from you and pay it back to the government.

Please also realize that the private re-sale tax on the vehicle is higher than the tax you paid to purchase it new.

Will Tesla attempt to recoup the rebate from you and pay it back to the government? Likely not - however you have to take the risk of a future audit. When you transfer ownership of the the vehicle, there will be a legal record of the purchase date, rebates and transfer date. If the government really wanted to, they could easily do an audit. However I don't think that currently they have the incentive or manpower do perform such audits.

Having said that I see lots of people flipping re-bate cars on craigslist. I would not personally assume the risk, but your mileage may vary!

Update- my EDD just changed from Feb 5-14 to Feb 10 to March 5. Lol. No idea whts going on to be honest. Only time will tell. Wow. OD was 28th Sept. Toronto. Blue on White 18 aero no fsd. Anyone else saw an EDD push back today in Canada?

Hi there,
I have a similar order date (sept 26) and location (Kitchener,ON). (White/White/SR/18/no FSD). EDD has been Jan 29-Feb26 for awhile - never moved to a shorter window.

I did receive an email from a Delivery Specialist on Monday saying that I would get a text in the coming days to schedule a pickup appointment. No VIN yet - in code or otherwise.

Hope your date is sooner than later!

Red/black aero, ordered oct 26th in Ottawa. Feb 10th-march 10th. Hasn’t moved since November still. Hoping for some movement soon as the February date gets closer.

Unfortunately I wouldn't count on it. I ordered same config but earlier (Oct 15, Oakville) and EDD stayed at Feb 9 - Mar 9 since Nov. Then last week it changed to May 8 - Jun 11. People with OD in Sept are only getting theirs now.

I got assigned my VIN today via the source code and Tesla Vision update. I haven't accepted the order as I'm going to be out of town and need to call Tesla to see what my options are. I wonder with such a high VIN number if I could have the Ryzen processor.

When you call them, they should be able to let you know about the chip. Hope they let you get the car after your trip.

EDD Update.. so, this morning my EDD got narrowed again to Feb 11-24. 13 day window. Changed within 24 hrs. Lets see if it changes again tmro. Haha. I am ready!!

Congrats - I've been watching your progress as my OD is Sept 26th (SR, White/White/18"/Kitchener). I'm still at EDD January 29th-February 26th but this is a great sign!

My OD is Sep 28 (same as yours SR+/white/white/18”), my EDD was Jan 10 ~ Feb 7 but recently changed to Jan 29 ~ Feb 26 ( same as yours)
Last word I heard from my SA was that my car should be built in the week of Jan 24th and it should be in the market by Feb 6th. Please let’s keep each other updated.

Yes St-Bruno. White/Black Aero ! My SA was on par a week ago when he said car would be around Feb 10th.
