Supercharger - Rockingham, NC

Just got some info from my FB feed that there is going to be a Supercharger in Rockingham NC where the Belk is. The person said they are friends with installers of Superchargers.

Nothing official posted on the Tesla site and no permits found yet so I am not sure if this post is even meaningful but wanted to see if anyone else heard of anything or searched for any permits in the area.

Have not heard, but sure hope so. Desperately need one in this area for my regular travels from the Triad area to the coast.

It would be such a big deal for the travels you mentioned. I’ve had so many trips where I needed to go from the Triad down 73 and then head east after Rockingham. In my opinion this is the biggest area of need for NC superchargers outside of maybe something Northwest of Winston-Salem so that people can be better covered heading to Boone and those areas. The Rockingham area is popular for going through from the Triad area to start heading south (towards places like Florida) and it’s a good middle area on 77 in between Charlotte and Wilmington/coastal areas.

Will greatly help Triangle people that want to drive straight south to avoid Charlotte and Raleigh at peak hours.

Splitter on (Future) I-74 between Archdale, NC and the end of I-74.
Splitter on US-1 between Columbia, SC and Raleigh, NC.
Splitter along US-74 between Asheville, NC and Wilmington, NC, actually splitting the normal routing between Charlotte - Toringdon Way, NC and Wilmington, NC.
Also reduces distances on the I-74/I-95 transition:

Although a significant diversion off some of the major routes it's a significant hole-filler, splitting gaps on multiple routes. .

* US-74/I-74 will route around Rockingham, NC, but at least currently mapping has the fastest route directly past the Supercharger location.

A spokesperson for NIS said that the Rockingham location will have 12 stalls in total.

I took some photos there today :)
