Spoke to Houston North SC again, my car will arrive at the service center in a few hours (still on the truck) and they'll be able to start their pre-delivery inspection tomorrow morning. He wasn't sure if they would be done with it by the end of the day tomorrow, and said if I wasn't going out of town, he would have definitely had it ready for me on Saturday, but since I'm going out of town I just had them schedule me to pick it up Thursday 8/23 when I'm back in town. No point in having them rush through the pre-delivery inspection/detailing when I'll be heading out of town anyway.

I did ask him why it took this long if my car was supposedly in Texarkana on Monday, and he said it looks like the truck made some deliveries at Dallas and Austin Tesla delivery centers/service centers first, and now is on the road from Austin to Houston (he told me it's traveling along 290 at this moment). The car was transported by rail from California for most of the journey, and then put on the truck that has been making stops all over Texas before finding its way to Houston :)

After the phone call, I immediately got an email from William at the Houston North Service Center confirming my new delivery date and time, with additional details regarding the pickup process and insurance and registration stuff. Also received my fedex packet from Tesla today for the registration paperwork and they said just to mail it back as soon as I can. Can't wait!

Latest update from my IDA regarding my Model 3's extended Oklahoma vacation that is preventing delivery:

"Your Model 3’s battery was not charged. This is the reason for the delay."

The PDI is what led to my pickup appointment being pushed back a week. Apparently there was a problem with a seatbelt and they had to order a replacement. Today Megan was vague about if they had received the part and when I could expect a call to schedule my 'Orientation". ("Give us a few days" she said) My advice is to call daily until they say the inspection has been completed - if they delay your PDI and find a problem, you may be waiting after you return while they 'order parts'!

Good luck!

BTW Lonestar - let me know if any of your coworkers need a referral code! I will share mine!

William ensured me that they would conduct the PDI as soon as they get the car (car is arriving tonight after hours, so he said tomorrow morning) and said they would let me know if there are issues. I stressed that I did not want them to delay the PDI just because I'm not picking the car up till next week and he assured me that would not happen, that they will do the inspection right away and correct any issues (if there are any) ASAP. Obviously if it will need parts like yours did it may get pushed back further. I plan to follow up and make sure everything went well with the inspection.

My experience:

4/7/2016 - TM3 Reservation
6/28/2018 - Put in the order for a Black LR RWD with 18" Aero Wheels
7/3/2018 - ISA contacts me via email with all the details to complete the order
7/6/2018 - I send my ISA the auto loan pre-approval letter
7/9/2018 - ISA sends me the MVPA.
7/11/2018 - I call my ISA to tell him that I wanted to put a down payment. He tells me that he would need to create a new MVPA and that I needed to submit the down payment via ACH through my Tesla account. I call my CU to let them know that I was putting some money down. CU sends Tesla a check for the amount I wanted to finance.
7/27/18 - Finally my Tesla account had the ACH option enabled to submit the down payment. I send the payment. I could already see my CU's amount as part of the payment details.
7/30/18 - I get the original (wrong) MVPA for me to sign. I call my ISA to let him know that they sent me the wrong MVPA. He tells me to ignore it and that there's no rush in signing the updated one. That the car was paid in full and they could now deliver it.
7/31/18 - ACH transaction completes. My ISA calls me and gives me a tentative delivery date of 8/14/18.
8/11/18 - My ISA calls me to let me know that the car never left California and that they are holding accountable the person who dropped the ball. Gives me another tentative delivery date of 8/28/18.
8/14/18 - I email my ISA to ask him if the car was shipped this time.
8/15/18 - ISA replies back saying that he talked to the logistics manager and told him that he is confident that we will make our delivery date goal.

I thought I was the only one dealing with this crap but reading through this thread I don't feel alone anymore. I honestly think that Tesla folks are just complete liars. They just tell you whatever comes to mind to keep your hopes up and not make them look bad.

Maybe that means *completely dead battery pack*? I can't imagine any other not-charged-battery situation that would take this long to rectify.

Thanks SleepingLesson for following up. However, my brain stops reading rest of the post as soon as it sees the word "Oklahoma". I wish there was a way, I could be more pissed than I am, with this situation.

I have no idea what she meant by that. As I told the Service Center when I called today, "Did they have to ship the electricity in?" He was equally as dumbfounded and said he would contact my IDA.

Haha I understand the feeling. I can laugh about it but it is incredibly frustrating to see people order and receive their car just within the time between my delays. There is a point (not even close yet) where I would seriously consider contacting an attorney. This thing is bought and paid for and they're essentially withholding it.

Can it be? I am hopeful...…

Megan called today and said the MCU and seatbelts have been restored to Tesla standard on my Silver Metallic RWD! The car is ready - except the final wash (then she said something about the water pump being out...????) Sooooooooo

I have a 2 PM delivery scheduled for tomorrow. I will believe it when the Lyft driver shows up on our driveway to take us the 50 miles to the delivery center! This is only 3 days after my originally scheduled delivery......if it really happens.

Fingers crossed...…...

They told me the same thing about the water. Apparently a major pipe in the area had burst and they haven’t had water at the service center for the past day and a half or so.

Got a call from North Houston service center earlier today—my car is ready! Passed PDI and detailed, washed, and temporary tags already on the car. Could pick it up anytime, but reminded them that I’m out of town till Wednesday night so confirmed my delivery appointment for Thursday 8/23!

Our M3 is home in Rosenberg! Delivery went well, the specialist was busy with the 1:30 appt so we waited a few minutes, then we asked if we could start our inspection until the DS was available. Our car was in the back (thanks for the hint, Dana) and Megan helped pair our phones and gave us the keys cards so we had full access to the car. The only exceptions were a brown smudge on the right T pillar headliner and a droopy plastic(!) rocker panel on the passenger side. The trunk sill (plastic also) was loose but I was able to snap it securely into place by leaning down on it. Service fixed the other minor issues.

The car only had 111 miles of charge so we went out front and supercharged it to 240 miles ($4.50 indicated) since we planned to drive to Rosenberg via Waller, Brookshire and Simonton. No EZ tag yet.......

Great drive! It helped that I had downloaded the owners manual and read through it, so TACC started working around 30 miles on the Odo (5 at delivery) and EAP was available at 40 miles. Total drive home was 109 miles.

The silver M3 looks awesome. Still on the fence with midnight silver mettalic, which has its own personality (changing colors with shades of light).

Still a bit apprehensive that 50% ~ of the cars on the road are silver, gray or white. Black is likely another 30%.

Tesla, where, oh where, are the vibrant colors?

Seriously, too many drab colored cars all around, really, not just Tesla. The main reason i'm getting red is because it's the closest thing they have to a bright color. Blue looks bright in the configurator, but in person, it's not even close, way too dark.

My credit union's check was delivered Friday morning. My IDA said she'd contact me once she had the check. Obviously I don't expect them to be working over the weekend, but man, I sure hope I hear from her today. Now that I'm officially accruing interest on the car, I want to start driving it asap.
