    Another cracked wheel

Well, I got it fixed for the cool price of one crisp $100 bill. I took the car out, got it up to speed and as soon as I hit 88 mph the wheel turned into a pumpkin! Craziest thing you've ever seen!! No wait, I'm getting stories mixed together. That didn't happen at all. The rim is functioning...

2015 Model S - Trunk Won't Open When Approached From Behind

And that design, of not allowing the charge port door to open when you come directly to it, was stupid. I'd like to meet the person responsible for that decision and smack the piss out of him.

Heat treat cast aluminum? Lol. This is a legitimate business. Not some crackhead in a back alley.
  4. D

    Another cracked wheel

No. It's really not. It may crack again around the weld but the wheel isn't going to just magically turn into a pumpkin while I'm driving.

    Another cracked wheel

They claim it was damage from a pothole. But I haven't hit any. There's no other visible damage to the wheel, not even curb rash and the tire isn't damaged either. It's a BS cop out. I'd fight it but it's not worth my time. Just pay for it to be fixed and move on.

    Another cracked wheel

Yeah. I do. Can't be any worse than the POS wheels that come on it. It's just aluminum. The worst that will happen is that it would crack again. Big deal.

    Carbon Ceramic Brakes

Is anyone really looking at these for the braking performance?? I thought everyone was wanting these for the decreased rotational mass.

I've only got 25k on my car. They refused to replace mine. This is clearly a design flaw.

I'm losing about 10-15lb per day. Yes, I know it can be repaired. I already have it scheduled to be repaired. $150, including mounting and rebalance.

I talked to the local Porsche dealer who we use for my wife's Cayenne Turbo. They hooked me up with a local guy who does wheel repairs. $150 including remounting and balancing. Can't beat that!! They said their customers use this guy all the time and he does great work.

    Another cracked wheel

Add me to the list of people who have a cracked 21" wheel. I've never hit anything hard with my car. No curbs, no potholes. The tire and rim are pristine except where this crack developed. $1150 for a new wheel. Seems like there's almost enough of us for a class action suit.

As mentioned above, it's the toe that really eats the tires. Much more than the camber.

    Fatal autopilot crash, NHTSA investigating...

Are you implying that we don't need any more risk takers on the road? I agree. Or are you implying we don't need any more AP equipped cars on the road??

    Fatal autopilot crash, NHTSA investigating...

Condolences to the families involved. That being said, frankly, this guy was driving distracted in the first video showing AP avoiding the truck coming from his left. The truck was well forward of him and he should have easily seen it and noticed it coming over into his lane before AP did. He...

    Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Take your car in for a 4 wheel alignment. Many of them are set toed out. That combined with the factory camber settings, and you get excessive inner wear. I would ask for 0.04 degrees toe, each side which is the bare minimum on the specs. That should lead to better tire wear and maybe even...

Newer P90DL makes 662 hp at the battery!!!

With the comments about different readings whether the AC is on or off, whether the Max Batt setting is on or off, etc., it leads me to believe that the Power Tools clearly doesn't read "at the battery" as the title of this thread states. If so, those readings would be constant, only so much can...

torque vectoring in AWD Model S

Sure it does. If the motor puts out 1000 ft lbs of torque and it goes to a differential which then powers 2 wheels, 500ft lbs of counter force applied to each wheel would stop the motor. If it is an open diff or limited slip diff, then applying enough torque to stop one wheel would then transfer...

Feedback on 7.1 2.17.37 (Summon, Autopilot & Othr changes)

I hate this firmware. Ever since I got it, my auto open and close of garage door only works about 25% of the time. It shows that it's sending the signal but my garage door doesn't budge. Also, my auto high beams don't work now. They will occasionally flash to high beam but they essentially don't...

    Driver Assistance Features Unavailable

If it's happening regularly to anyone, they need a new camera. The early versions weren't booting up fast enough and it gives you that error. I had mine replaced and haven't had an issue since.

    Wifi/3G handoff sucks!

I have turned it off in the car for now. It showed two bars of signal in the car and I could get decent speeds on my phone when standing next to the car or even inside the car. Wifi/3G handoff sucks!

Has anyone else noticed that if they have wifi enabled, if the car detects and connects to a wifi source that it will NOT use 3G for any reason. This becomes a problem if the wifi source itself is having connection issues or if the wifi signal isnt' strong enough to work with any reasonable...

Supercharger — Catoosa, OK - Near Tulsa, OK

I'm on Plugshare, not too far away, over in Pryor if anyone is in this area and needs some juice. I have 80amp, usually around 240v service. Even I would like to have this supercharger done as I could see using it occasionally. One in Joplin would be really handy though.

    Carbon Fiber Rims

I seriously doubt that Tesla specs the lug nuts to be torqued dry. Certainly the coefficient of friction of anti-seize may be different that a typical moly lube, and it typically will result in greater bolt strain for a given torque when used. Trying to use a certain amount to get enough...

    Liftgate close button

I'll check mine. I hate the way you have to wait after the lid is open for a couple seconds before you can push the button for it to shut. If you hit it too quick it just beeps at you. Stupid. Issues switching between Forward and Reverse

What sucks is when you are rolling just a little too fast and you flip it from R to D but it stays in R!! Then when you hit the gas again, you shoot backward. Stupid! The big question. Nag or No Nag?

I have been nagged several times in almost this exact fashion. On a perfect road with no issues. And I will get randomly nagged. The car clearly had a good lock on the road and did not need any input. It isn't a consistently timed thing but it certainly want occasional input, even when not needed.

The big question. Nag or No Nag?

I drove mine in Autopilot mode for about 60 miles today. I drove about 20 before it ever gave a nag. Then suddenly it nagged me 3 times in about 7-8 min. Then didn't again for a long way. It wasn't particularly well marked road, any of it. I really couldn't figure out what triggered the nag.

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

You really think a M3 can accelerate 70-90 in 3.1 seconds in top gear. Bwahahahaha!! That's hilarious. Here's a full breakdown on times in various gears of a 2008 M3. The 2010 up are really not any faster than the 2008's. Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG v BMW M3 saloon | Evo

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

You do realize the similarities between the E90 and E92 right? You really think the e92 is that much faster? I only used the E90 because it had concrete data.
  40. D

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

You brought up the M cars and I showed actual numbers to show that the Tesla beats it in 70-90mph sprints. You conveniently ignored that.
  41. D

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

The Aventador weighs considerably less and runs a 10.9 second 1/4. It's way faster than the Tesla. Even the Aventador's owner says the Tesla seems faster to 50. By 7 seconds the Aventador is going over 100. Again, proving my point that it's really the speeds above 90. And we also know the SOC on...

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

No, they don't make up ground 60-90. 0-60 the Tesla wins. 60-90 it's roughly even. They don't gain back any ground. Then finally above 90 they gain back what they lost from 0-60. And by the time they get to 120, they might have passed the Tesla depending on which car you're talking about. E90...

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

You can watch all the drag videos of the P85D against the Aventador, Ferrari, various M cars, etc. It beats them all off the line and continues to gain distance until 50-60mph. Then for the next few seconds, which would be that 60-90mph range, the acceleration is the same or very close as...

There was no reverse angle. You can't tell how big the jump was.
  45. D

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

It's not very good at highway passing speeds? This is laughable. It may not be as good as a M5 or E63 AMG, but you act like once it hits 70 it turns into a Yugo. You realize that from 60-90, it's on par or very close with those cars. It's only the 90-120 where those cars reel in the Tesla...

Who is still upgrading to Ludicrous in their P85D after hearing Drag times?

Sure, cutting a better light will win an otherwise close race. I thought the biggest gripe against the P85D was falling on its face at higher speeds??? The P90DL seems to pass the P85D at these higher speeds in this video with similar authority that other ICE cars do, therefore fixing the...

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

Wrong on many levels. Do I need to take pictures of my current Porsche Turbo? Would you like to see video of a dyno pull of my 750 RWHP (approx 1000 hp at the crank) truck that would run mid 10's? Or maybe you need me to list off the, literally close to 100, super fast and exotic cars I have...

Who is still upgrading to Ludicrous in their P85D after hearing Drag times?

Forgive me if this had already been linked, but I hadn't seen it. This is a P85D insane vs a P90D Luddy. The P85D gets the jump but the P90DL reels him in similar to what we have been seeing with some of the higher powered ICE cars. This seems to bode very well for the P90DL (and hopefully the...

    P90D Ludicrous 1/4 mile time

Honestly, I question whether you realize how an ICE works if you think an ICE powered car can produce power as quickly as an electric motor.
