Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

Please ignore the people here who like to kneejerk fanboy and don't know who you are. Those of us who do know your pedigree, take your feedback very very seriously. Ughhhhh much of this totally jives with my experience. Phantom braking. Oh-god-the-phantom-braking. Phantom lane change...

    Dashcam paused, won’t un-pause

Yes to literally all of this. Grey x, "something is wrong with the drive," repairing it makes it work, lots of other files on the drive, etc. Expecting it to fail again now, since that seems to be the pattern. Not fully baked beta, it seems.

    Rear view camera - v9.0

Ugh, count me in as someone who left the camera up on top all the time. I usually have camera on top, nav on bottom, and the muscle memory from 3 years of driving a Tesla with that config is going to be hard to break. I use my mirrors, but I just like to triple check my camera before I change...

    Software Update 2018.39.5 a1c2332 (first 9.0 release)

So blindspot monitoring is limited to FSD cars only? Ugh... I would've added that to my lease if I knew that was coming. Now my only option is a $5,000 "upgrade" on a lease. Great.

Thanks for putting these together! Can I ask if it's at ALL possible to "pin" camera to the top of the screen? I have a feeling I'm going to go nuts if I can't...

Tesla offered early lease end opportunity

Just to close the loop on this, I've logged into my US Bank account and been presented with: So, mission accomplished, I presume! Now I just feel like an idiot, because while I had my center console removed, I think I left the leather side panels in the car and it's been removed from the...

Series 1 HPWC issues with 2018 model S

I'm running into this problem. New 2018 P100D throws a "charge cable fault" error when charging ends, which, at least it charges? But this causes it to not stay topped off, and to require me to manually reset every time, and if the charge starts and is interrupted for some reason, it obviously...

250 miles on AP 2 initial impressions

I'm wondering if I'm just hypersensitive to a few of these differences. It doesn't feel like sensor/alignment issues as much as differences in how it manages certain scenarios. I think it's best to withhold judgment until v9 anyway, since that's supposed to be such a big step forward.

I know this is always being discussed ad infinitum here, but just thought I'd start a thread detailing my own experiences with the most recent update's AP 2 (2018.34.1 3dd3072) coming from my P90D with AP 1.0. It is squirrely af. I don't trust it as much, so far Hews too close to the edge of...

Definitive S Refresh Front Plate Bracket Removal

Oh lordy, okay, just did this on my new 2018 Model S and what fun. The pliers struggled so I ended up using them closed to twist from one of the pentalobe edges, and that worked. My outer painted holder was screwed into the black mount that is double sided taped onto the car, so I had to remove...

Tesla offered early lease end opportunity

I'll insist, accurately, that they told me they'd be recapturing the car and not to worry about it over and over. The point here is that there won't be an AutoVIN inspection if Tesla buys the car back for them to remarket, which was the prescribed intent to me. And I mean, they communicated...

Okay, so I took delivery yesterday and let me just say that it was... comical. They have no idea what they're doing on the lease return. Like, none. They barely understood it was a US Bank lease. They didn't even look at the damn car. I asked if there was going to be an inspection "you know...

Mine's US Bank. No idea on the inspection. Tesla offered early lease end opportunity

Just to chime in, we got this offer with leases ending in December, and since both myself and my partner are in mileage penalty already decided to take them up on it. 8.0 TACC on exit ramps no longer adjusts speed

That's not how any of this works. "Beta" isn't code for "we can be sloppy about how we degrade existing functionality." There is a tacit understanding that they're asking users to learn how the system operates, and its limitations, so that they can know when to rely on it and when they'll need...

8.0 TACC on exit ramps no longer adjusts speed

8.0 TACC on exit ramps no longer adjusts speed

8.0 TACC on exit ramps no longer adjusts speed

7.1 introduced a feature that, if you were in the far right lane and had your right blinker on, TACC would slow you down coming up an off-ramp. This was really nice because you could let the car slow you down without having to do a TACC disable/control takeover that felt less graceful. That...

    Audio Change in 2.36.31?

I concur that a reboot might make the most sense. It's highly unlikely they did anything else in 2.36.31 (and I haven't personally noticed any difference, FWIW), since it was 1) a security fix, and 2) on the eve of a massive catch-all update. No reason to push a change to sound balancing in a...

    Firmware 8.0

*sugar*, that's definitely a possibility. In fact, you're almost certainly correct, since we know for a fact that the car is downloading map tiles, since you can observe that occurring. I guess I hadn't thought about how that means they can't abstract the labeling away, which means you can't...

Any update to the guts of the touchscreen?

I respectfully disagree. There's a lot to be said for hardware acceleration of page renders/canvas drawing in the browser, and if they're not able to take advantage of that because of the hardware they're using, that would go a long way toward explaining the abysmal browser performance when the...

Blind spot assist in Version 8

Per Tesla's blog post about AP: I know that's referring to AP-based alerts, but I'm really hoping they do something similar like flash the instrument panel when you change lanes. Early leaks of 7.0 showed a red car in your blind spot on the interface, but I'm guessing they determined the U/S...

    Autopilot automatically slows in curves?

Erm, neither of these are quite right, I don't think. I'm almost positive the curve-aware slowdown component in AP is largely fed from the onboard high fidelity mapping data. Autopilot performance has degraded in 2.28.19 vs 2.20.30 - my imagination???

I'm not sure what version I'm on right now but AP has been really shady on regular routes that have previously caused no problems. I don't really trust it right now. It's wandering a lot, edging the left line on a straightaway with clear visibility, bailing out of curves it never had problems...

    HOT door handles

I'm sorry but I really don't get this issue. It was 47°C here today. The handles are hot, sure, but you can just flick them quickly enough with your bare hand such that it pops the door solenoid open, and then open the door. That's my strategy, anyway.

    Uber driving my P90D

There's a definite coverage gap: Uber's comprehensive/collision maxes out at $50k I believe, though their liability limits are up to $1M, and $1M uninsured/underinsured, so that part's good. But on the vehicle itself, you definitely need to have other insurance covering you.

Wait, what? Really? Uber states they're not taking new Black "partners" right now for PHX, so it might be moot, but I'll check with customer service. Ha, that sums it up perfectly. My reference to chipping away at my monthly payment was tongue-in-cheek. Of course I'm not doing this for the money. It nets out to roughly $15-$20/hr for UberX. Uber driving my P90D

It's actually a corporate lease with robust commercial insurance, which covers allllllll sorts of fun. Uber then provides additional significant liability insurance (up to $1M, though secondary to a commercial insurance policy) and comprehensive and collision overage as well.
