NY delivery
OD 1/15

Picked up 2/24 - thoroughly inspected the Y, no issues. The alignment was solid - Austin build. Paint was good. Scheduled a service appointment for some minor nit-picky issues they agreed to resolve/replace on the B-pillar glass and driver headrest, but I would have been ok with them even if not resolved.

No factory PPF nor mudflaps in NY
No matrix headlights

Read a few comments about the vehicle coming with/w/o PPF. Is there any logic (build location / delivery location / model type etc) to whether the vehicle comes with it or not?
I was at my local Tesla office (Indiana) the other day and saw someone taking a delivery of a new MYLR 5 seater. It happened to be my SA who was delivering the car to the new owners. I noticed the cat had mud guards and PPF on the rear door - lower part. I asked if all new cars come with them and he replied 'yes'. I am not sure if these are coming from the factory (not sure if the car was a Fremont or Austin build), or if they are putting them at the local service center. I am going back to the office tomorrow for test drive (yes, bought mine without test drive) and will find out more.

I see someone posted about Tesla vision agreement in 2021. Is this coming to every delivery?

I got something similar last night in my Tesla App when I was checking it.

so lets say I am from Georgia and i see a car in Ohio that says than can only be registered in Ohio i can still contact my SA and get that? the only thing is i have to take delivery from Ohio?
Just make sure you don't pay taxes in OH and GA. OH has sales tax in most state to state move you end up paying difference in taxes to your home state if car is less than s8x month old.
Not in GA. You have to pay edvolariam to have the car registered in GA.

Understand that before you are surprised.
And yes this advise is worth what you paid for...nothing. so do your homework

I did the same - ordered without test drive. My appointment is next Saturday otherwise I would have been there tomorrow as well. Good luck

Since there's nothing else to do other than wait, I created a visualization of my EDDs. :)

I am going to try one more thing when I go to the Tesla office tomorrow. My delivery is scheduled on 3/2 as I changed the original order of MYLR W/W/19" 5 seater to R/W/20" to match one showing up in the Cleveland office. Original order was on 1/30 and EDD was late Apr/early May. I found the Red one Thu (2/16) night and spoke to SA Fri morning and the change was made Fri (2/17), and immediately got the VIN and EDD was 3/2-3/9. I am going to ask if and when they are going to get the vehicle. If they have it on or before 2/28, I am thinking of asking for delivery immediately. Of course, I would not accept if there are major issues, but if there are minor issues that will/can be fixed with a later service appointment. I am thinking...just to be on the safe side as like many, I also want to get the tax credit and I feel nervous what happens come Feb 28/Mar 1. Since I am so close to Feb 28, I am bit more nervous. Federal govt. can come with anything - or not - I really hope and pray that all of us who are getting their Teslas in Mar/Apr can get the full tax credit. Wish me luck! Thanks all

Edit: Car manufactured date 2/15 (got this after asking 510 number), Fremont built. How long does it take to ship from Fremont to Indiana/East coast?

Oh wow... words fail. Mine has been nothing compared to that. Feb-Mar => Mar 20 - Mar 31 => Apr 19 - May 31
Now EDD has been holding for a bit.. as I've mentioned before I suspect I've been slotted into the 2nd quarter production run.. which is fine 😢.

I'm considering going with Tesla financing as well. The big banks are in the high 5's.
What kind of information/proof do you need to provide as proof of income that needs to be uploaded? paystubs? W-2's?
(I don't think the amount of the down payment had anything to do with it...it's probably more a good credit score and good repayment history on your credit report.:))
I went with DCU and the check was sent to Tesla in a day for overnight shipping. So the entire process took 2 days. They gave 4.99

Sooo many things can change EDDs dynamically. Just a few of the things I can think of right off hand are:

  • Weather
  • Material shortages
  • Transportation problems (rail or hauler doesn't show up on time causing a shift in logistics)
  • Order changes and cancellations (example: one or more orders scheduled for a rail car or hauler get canceled altering the logistics)
  • Not as many orders as expected for a given delivery location
  • Production problems (unexpected equipment failure or process correction required)
  • Other things I forgot or am not aware of

It's truly mind-blowing to me how two factories can manufacture and distribute nearly a thousand Model Ys per day and deliver them nationwide as efficiently and accurately as they do. There's a lot of collective knowledge at work here.

It's easy for one person to get upset because their order doesn't arrive when expected, but so many things have to come together at exactly the right time to produce the desired result. It's not like Tesla has a giant warehouse filled with 100,000 Model Ys that they can pick and ship for next-day delivery. :) They're having to source materials in near real time to meet the demands of thousands of impatient buyers per day and rely on other companies to do their jobs exactly when expected to make these deliveries happen. A lot can go wrong and it often does.

Each of us thinks our individual orders are more important than they really are. The collective of orders is important, but each of our individual orders isn't even a blip on the radar.
