How many people can really be expected to speak fluent "VIN"?Tesla doesn't care.
But given that you'll want to check the VIN, that the VIN will tell you anything major, and that the badge just tells you that the car has that badge on it, then the badge really isn't necessary unless you are the kind of sad-case who uses their car as a psychological prop.
Having shopped for used Teslas, I can assure you that it is sometimes difficult to zero in on the cars one really wants to consider since listing of specs can be all over the place. Knowing the battery size is helpful in making the first cut, assuming that it is a primary criterion. I wonder if one can tell from the door jamb plaque?
