The next big milestone for FSD is 11. It is a significant upgrade and fundamental changes to several parts of the FSD stack including totally new way to train the perception NN.

From AI day and Lex Fridman interview we have a good sense of what might be included.

- Object permanence both temporal and spatial
- Moving from “bag of points” to objects in NN
- Creating a 3D vector representation of the environment all in NN
- Planner optimization using NN / Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS)
- Change from processed images to “photon count” / raw image
- Change from single image perception to surround video
- Merging of city, highway and parking lot stacks a.k.a. Single Stack

7.2 is quite better than 7 for me. Yes, 7.2 is still stupid with passing lane and rightmost lane changes, and yes, it still does some dangerous things.

But it is much better with speed control, slows and stops smoothly at traffic lights, even on 55mph roads with traffic lights.

It's more assertive and confident with lane changes. It even did a 2 lane change to the right exit lane on highway.

Mostly, what matters to me is smoothness in speed control, especially with abrupt lead car stops and traffic on highway, assertive and responsive lane changes, and being in the correct lane on time.

There was a road near our cabin that it had wrong - thought it was 35 instead of 55. I made a correction on open street maps (which also had it wrong.) It took a while but the Tesla map has finally changed. My guess is there’s a mistake in one of the mapping databases that Tesla references.

FWIW, you can override the speed limit setting with the scroll wheel.

I can override it now. I could not with the previous subscription version I had in August. When I get home I'll fetz with it. I am on a 400 mile dual lane trip this weekend to Washington. It appears there are several places along the route where this happens. Coincidentally, Nav software was updated today. I will see if 2023 is any better when I get home.

And you are what we call stuck. Sometimes the update check freezes.
I think the only fix would be a 2 button reboot. I can't remember for sure how we got past the frozen date bug. Strong wifi helps. Someone else surely will remember...

I have stimulated an update by checking the usual way, having an " up to date as of" date of several days before, and a 2 button reboot results in fresh software availability (when I know it's out there). I used to think that didn't work, but 5/6 tries and immediately? Yes. Things do get stuck and it's worth trying.

I have a new circle that was added at the end of a highway near me about a year ago. All previous FSD versions never showed the circle in the nav route. Busy day for my car today, got both the software update and map update on the same day! Haven't driven it yet.

As well as getting a new 12v battery and new cabin air filters put in.

I think that has already been established. The junk is junkier on the refreshed MS and MX, and not as much (junkier) on the Charlatan’s high volume money makers. “To hell with the Flagship models,” the great Charlatan says under his breath….
