LR RWD Waiting Room

My email received today. I ordered LR 5/21. Nothing about it not being made any more which one would think they would mention to get me into another car?

“Still no VIN assigned to you yet. We don’t have visibility into which cars are in line for factory production so we won’t know until you have a VIN assigned to you. So basically you will have a week’s notice once a VIN is assigned to schedule a delivery date.”
If you scroll through AWD. we're still in a solid time window. No worries.

I ordered on 5/17 in Los Angeles. Model 3 LR RWD White Exterior and Black Interior with Aero Wheel. I was assigned VIN on 5/28 and Will have it delivered next Wed.
I checked with chat that the car was built the end of Mar. with HW2.5 (unfortunately). I wanted to wait a newer car with HW3.0 but I asked chat that the representative said at this moment they are not taking any LR RWD order only can get from Inventory.
I was worried that I wouldn't get it by the end of June so I decided to accept this car.

And I bought FSD when I placed the order. The Delivery Specialist told me that I will need to go to Service Center to upgrade to HW3.0 which annoys me.

Well, they are just flat out lying to you. People are placing orders every day for LR RWD vehicles and posting about it in this forum (and in this post). They found a car sitting around in inventory and want to move it so they fed you a line. If you are buying FSD anyway it doesn’t really matter, you will get HW3 eventually. If not, I would hold off for another VIN with a later build date.

I used chat to ask another customer representative without letting him know that I had VIN already.
There are so many people are still waiting for their car so I think it would be safe for me to take this one so that I won't miss the timeline for Fed refund. Also, I bought FSD so I don't think it really matters.

Not entirely sure this was a bad option for them. Looking more at the spreadsheet, out of the 20 people who ordered a LR in May, only 4 of them received a vin and got a delivery almost immediately. As you can imagine that probably just means they found an inventory match similar to wt31. So I'm definitely going to wait a while longer but probably unless those people see VINs within the next week I doubt I'll be getting mine before the July cut off date. I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla decides to forego building "custom" orders until after the Q2 June push and just focus on building the more common models for all available countries.

I was informed by a Tesla Advisor at my local Tesla Atlanta-Lenox store to place my order for the dual motor model 3 and to call back to have it changed to the off menu option. I placed my order on 5/30/19 from the Tesla site and called my local Tesla office to have my order changed to the M3 LR RWD on 5/31/19 without any problem. It took only a matter of minutes before it was updated in my profile. I ordered the White Exterior with Aero wheels and black interior . Hopeful it will arrive before July 1st. So yes, we still can order the LR RWD.

Another email from my Sales person. I asked about the Nema 14-50 adapter:

"At this point they are accelerating delivery as much as possible so it will be any day now, but you’re right in that the 2 week timeline was a bit ambitious. The NEMA 14-50 is not included but you can either order it online or get it from a service center."

Placed my LR RWD order on 5/15. Still no VIN or delivery date either online or with my local adviser. Getting frustrated because I already applied for financing and the rate is locked for 30 days. Was expecting to have a VIN by now in order to close the loan. I'm willing to cut Tesla alot of slack, but if they can't deliver by end of June, I may have to cancel my order. Also now irritated that Homelink probably won't be included on my car even though it was a feature when I ordered. Crossing my fingers for some info soon.

Since it was an advertised feature when you ordered, you should ask for it to be included as a "due bill" item if it is not present at delivery. Make sure you ask for it and see the due bill before you sign the delivery form. I would not insist on it or expect it to be installed in your car before delivery if it was not installed at the factory.

That's actually what I'm gonna do. It was definitely part of the package so I want it!

There sure seems to be a lot of white w/aero LR RWD orders having problems getting fulfilled :(.

There is no EV US Federal Tax rebate, but I will cancel also if they don't deliver by the tax credit deadline of 6/30. Tesla so far has lowered the price of the car enough to match or beat it anyway afterwards.

I don’t think Tesla would stop including Homelink prior to announcing it and removing it from the description.

Looking at the history that Wayback has on that page, I see that as of May 27th it was still included in the product description but on May 31st it was removed. So somewhere between the 27th and 31st is when they made the decision to remove the product. So I would say that if you had the order placed no later than May 27th you have a good argument to make that you are entitled to it, and you have a good probability that it ends up being included in your vehicle.

Homelink being removed was announced to sales staff on May 31st.

From what I have seen, Tesla will make good on adding anything removed after ordering, and also offer a price reduction on anything that becomes less expensive after ordering. Win win.
