Unrelated to delivery but related to these being new cars, I just had to drop my wife off at the dentist as her BMW is in the shop, and I elected to just wait for 30mins instead of driving 10mins home and 10mins back... while waiting I saw one guy in a model Y snap a pic of my car as he drove past, and another guy who was on a smoke break from an adjacent business came up to admire my car and asked if it had good pickup. I told him Motor Trend had timed it at 1.98sec, he was blown away haha. These refresh Ses are getting popular!

Some irony there, about "sooner than expected"

Exactly a year...retorically, I wonder what they were expecting.

Since you will get it on Sunday, you will probably see it come off the truck. Great if you could film it and post it here.

Suggest maybe take it to the SC SuC, just to make sure everything is working properly, of course.. 😁

Not Sunday, today!

Are they not removing the license plate holder and re-installing after wrap? seems like you would want the bumper covered fully incase you remove the plate holder in the future.
I’ll check. Although I don’t plan to remove it. Personalized Plates…
I did inform them.

So, after nine months of waiting, I got Plaid. Yeah!?

While I am excited, I am also tired. The whole “buying” Plaid experience was the worst of all cars that I wrestled from Tesla.

This is my third MS, overall, fourth Tesla.

Brace yourself, wall of text incoming.

tl;dr: Buying experience sucks, car great.

Delivery:

  • Delivery date kept shifting, disappearing, reappearing, eventually settling on September 20-23.. Two days before delivery, I was getting texts asking about registration, plates etc. One short phone call would have resolved all the questions, but this is how Tesla does their business, texting back and forth. This takes more time and drags out the whole process.
  • 24 hours before delivery, I got automated call to confirm it.
  • Paperwork was completed around 3pm day before delivery. My appointment was at 9:30am next day. Cutting it close. Keep saving all the paperwork, it will disappear from your account once delivery is completed.
  • Got a note to pay online. Logged in to find Plaid (yes, it’s called Plaid), third party service to transfer money. They wanted my bank login information! This is crazy, don’t do it. They pull all your transactions information, keep it, and share it. If you did use them, change your bank login information asap. There is a form that you can submit to delete your account after transfer has been completed.
  • Next day, as I did not have time to get certified check, I tried paying with personal check. In the past, I did pay with personal checks for all other Tesla’s. They do not allow that anymore, at least at my servicer center. Luckily, they did have a “guy” that was able to set transfer from their end.
  • All that confusion and stress could have been avoided with one phone call or clear post on their website. But the consumer facing crew is barricaded inside and does not communicate. There are lot of hard-working people at Tesla, they just need to change the delivery approach.
  • As with all my other delivers, it was outside. I remember looking at photos of people with shiny cars and Tesla sign on the wall and thinking that their garage is a bit over the top. I did not know that is the delivery center, never picked up a car inside, with balloons, music and champagne? And orientation?
Car:

  • My previous MS was an early 2017 D60 with perforated cooling/heating seats, big improvement there. I had the yellow screen fixed twice, car would reboot randomly on startup, range was 207miles, but we still loved it.
  • However, Plaid is so much better!
  • Quality is very good; design has improved, I love the view from driver’s seat. Half a steering wheel, aka as Yoke, helps. Watching shiny car is great, although I wonder, what am I supposed to do with this information? Like, if car missed displaying a cone, do I stop? Lots of cones everywhere. It must be a season for cones.
  • Wife thinks car is smaller than our old MS (gray with tan interior). Has to be the dark headliner.
  • Glass roof is much better, it does not fry your head as much.
  • Handling is so much better, cornering (still afraid to push it hard with yoke in my hand) is awesome. We all know about acceleration; I don’t have draggy so I cannot post my results. But the street signs were blurry, so I was going fast. Although, it could have been lack of blood in my eyes.
Yoke:

  • There is nothing natural about making a turn with a yoke. Cruising is great. I like all controls on steering wheel, but left and right turn signal should be on left and right side. And honk in the middle or maybe, if I hard squeeze the yoke. Or voice active honk when I yell get the *sugar* out of my way! I will live with the yoke and eventually get used to it but if they offer round wheel, I will take it.
Post delivery:

  • I gave her good licking as she was dirty from sitting outside all night before delivery:
  • Optimum No Rinse wash, followed by de-claying and 10H ceramic coating applied with 1000EG by yours truly. Took off wheel covers, added aftermarket hub cap kit. Kept Plaid sign, it looks good, no need to de-badge.
  • Removed front license plate. Used fishing line method. When you do it, go from one side and keep pulling sideways. I went up and down and almost had a heart attack when I saw what I thought were scratches on the bottom lip. It was residue from the tape that holds the plate.
  • And finally, here is SFW car porn.

His best ever in his 21” was 9.4x and now he has a consistent string of 9.2x in the 19”. You can call that negligible if you want.
Not trying to be argumentative, but only quoting one source that never even let the 21s stage all the way is not the best way to present an argument. Many people on here and YT have run 9.23 or 9.25 on the dragstrip and the street in the 21s, and one guy on here ran 5s in the 1/8 mile on the 21s also. So yes, 9.23 vs. 9.26 is quite negligible IMO. Cool to see that performance is nearly identical on the dragstrip w/ the 19s. :)

You guys are scaring me. 😄 I am a real estate agent and can't be without a car or have people drive me around like uber. Is any SC in Socal still offers service loaner or at least a rental?

Some do about 2 months ago I took my model 3 in for a small hood gap and to get the A/c flushed, but it was going to take 3 days because of the weekend and the amount of cars they had and they gave me a model s75D for the 3 days

Got a response with image which works for me.

Cutting around the base bracket and installing the painted bracket over to hide the lines.
