Wiki Model S Delivery Update

In the spreadsheet here: Model S Order & Delivery 2016, I see S60 with vin 172xx (line 90), that was confirmed on 11/4, finished production by 11/15. While I see other cars ordered before still waiting. Is it that people haven't updated the spreadsheet or Tesla has some other logic to decide the order?

Was that S60 destined for outside the USA? I believe they batch build based on geography as much as anything else.

Ordered and confirmed my MS on 11/15 and have a delivery estimate of late Dec to early Jan. According to my sales specialist, all MS slots are now filled for 2016 so hopefully I'll get it in Dec. Ordered solid black 60, Premium package, black next gen seats and black headliner. Thanks for all the informative posts here.

I ordered my Model S P100D on Nov 6, it was confirmed on Nov 13, VIN assigned on Nov 14, slated for Dec or early Jan delivery per My Tesla site. Delivery specialist assigned, says it will enter production in late Nov/ early Dec and is expected to be delivered by mid-Dec. Sounds pretty aggressive. January sounds more realistic. I have updated the google docs spreadsheet with my order info. Can't wait!!!

My 60D was confirmed 11/16, so a day later. Vin is 174xxx. Have been told I will see my car in December by my sales advisor, but have yet to see any movement or hear from my DS. Fingers crossed...

I don't really know much about how they assign VIN's, but I was confirmed 9 days after you on Oct. 25th, but my VIN (170xxx) is much lower than yours. I wonder how that works? My expected delivery to Virginia has always said "December-Early January."

Edit: Changed "Nov." to "Oct.". Thanks NOLA_Mike.

My S was confirmed 11/6, hoping I get it in 2016 but haven't even received VIN yet. No finger nails left on either hand.

Try looking on your My Tesla page. Once your VIN is assigned, you will see it there regardless of whether or not you receive the email. under the picture of your car you will see "Model S" and then a long string of characters. That string is your VIN.

My delivery also says the same. December to early January. And I see so many cars before me in the spreadsheet that haven't started production yet. So I have my doubts.

You are definitely ahead of me.

It seems like they build all the cars for international delivery in the first part of the quarter and hold the domestic cars until the end of the quarter. My order was confirmed in mid-October and my delivery date was always late December - early January. I was just told that my car is starting production next week, with delivery sometime in mid to late December. I think that the lead time between ordering and delivery for US cars is much shorter toward the end of the quarter than it is at the beginning of the quarter.

Don't forget, when running at capacity the Tesla factory spits out more than 2000 cars/week now. I assume Thanksgiving (next) week will be slow or shut down but they should make most if not all of these deliveries by year end.
