Wiki Model S Delivery Update

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Delivery took place yesterday at the Tesla store in Brentwood, TN. Flawless process. :)

Came with 2018.16, but it had downloaded 2018.18 at the center. Set it to install tonight, and it seems to have done just fine. First OTA on the first day.

Taking it for OptiCoat Pro Plus on Thursday.

Congratulations, those rims look great! How did you pick opti-coat vs cquartz etc...

After refreshing about 634 times in the last week and driving my wife crazy, we are finally in production! My wife was relieved and it being mothers day I didn’t have the heart to tell her now I will just be anxious about delivery instead.

I should post here more often. I posted my first message at 11pm last night and 13 hours later I saw on the website that my Model S is in production!! I ordered on April 6th (the salesperson said it would be a June delivery) and it was confirmed on April 9th. Luckily, I live close to the service center in Devon, PA.
Thanks for asking, Brettski...it's 75D, standard black with cream interior.

Well after much tossing and turning, I will have to leave this thread. On Friday I changed my MS 75D That I placed on 4/29 to MX 75D with same configuration. White Multi-Coat with Premium White Interior and Carbon Fiber Trim & AP. Practical beat out good looks. Actually they both look good, but I still give the nod to the S. Being 6'9" it's just easier to get in and out of the X. Plus the windshield and the Doors. The sales people still promise a late June delivery. I enjoyed reading all you comments and hope everyone gets their delivers soon!

Thanks for posting the pictures, Red. Now my wife is saying, "Why didn't YOU order the red Tesla?". :)

I may be calling the seats the incorrect name. I’m referring to the fabric/pleather seats. I had heard that they’re very durable, and didn’t particularly like the vegan leather. No offense to anyone that likes it, it just wasn’t for me.

You and I picked up our cars on the same day in Decatur, GA. I have been experiencing suspension noise from the front of the car. There is a thread on the TMC blog relating to this annoying rattle and it seems to affect all Model S cars built during a specific time period. I am curious to know if you have the same suspension rattle, do you know if the cause is identified and what is involved in getting it fixed?

Aside from the rattle we love the car. It has been a joy to own and very comfortable for our travels. I will admit it does require an adjustment in planning X-Country trips but so far we have been able to manage the charging stops pretty well.

We took delivery of our Dark Gray MS P85D almost 3 years ago. Every time my husband sees one of the REDS go down the road he says “you know maybe we should have ordered that color”. So back in March we did! I do think the red color has changed since 2015 to a brighter red but maybe all we were seeing at that time were the sig’s. Impatiently waiting for June delivery!

So I got an email yesterday from Tesla (not my delivery specialist) saying my car is "Ready to Ship", but the site still says "In Production". Does this in fact mean its done or is that a standard email everyone gets while their vehicle is in production? Just curious!

That happened to me as well. In addition, my Tesla Account status changed to "Your Tesla has been built and is in transit from the factory. Learn about your Tesla."

Now I will have to stop by there every evening, not like I have not do so already, and pay special attention whats new on the lot. In fact, this morning I drove by and there was a covered car carrier in the lot. I so curious whats in there....

Was there a lot of rain/hail up there last night? I wonder if they protect the cars somehow during the storms like we had last night.

Yes, we did get a lot of rain but, no hail that I know of.

It does not seem they do anything extra to protect the vehicles outside. The cars that are scheduled for delivery are protected by being parked in a building. The vehicles in the shop are protected from weather but, all the other cars are just outside. There is even a Roadster parked outside.

Ah, must have just hailed where I live, our elevation is a bit higher than Denver/Littleton.

Update from my DA: "Your car has completed production and is in route to our service center. Would you be available on Saturday, March 17th for pick up?" 4 days earlier!

You and I exchanged a couple messages as our Decatur delivery dates were the same. I am curious to know if you have noticed a rattle noise from the front suspension? It seems that several of the cars (including mine) have a problem with the struts.

Finally heard from my delivery specialist, confirmed that its done with production, but could not give me any dates until logistics update and its in transit. Still wants me to wait on the credit app.. Hmm! Was hoping for a May delivery.. We shall see~ ! This is getting harder and harder!

Meanwhile my Plates expire end of the month. I really don't want to renew since it cant be transferred.
