Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Just received notice of a delay from my DR:

"I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I just got an update that your Model S will not be ready for delivery this Thursday. It is currently still in end of line inspection, longer than when we initially anticipated. Cars can spend time here waiting to repair any defects or waiting for parts. I anticipate next week being a better time frame to schedule delivery. Since you’ve elected for a factory delivery if I do get news that it will be available sooner we can get you in here as soon as possible."

Original window was 10/5-19.

Sig #448, VIN #404. Perf, Sig Red, pano, silver wheels, Black int. w/CF, paint armor, all options except child seats.

The reason I say the 17th is doable is that the standardtransit time to Atlanta is said to be 7 to 10 days and I was told much earlier that logistics takes a couple of days so delivery would be about 9 to 12 days after yesterday the 5th , when they acknowledged payment and paperwork. The 17th is the outside of that delivery timeframe so I am expecting it at least by the 17th, but am hoping they will come thru and get it to me by the 11th by some miracle.

Payment instructions appear to be generic, although the amounts will be different, in that you wire the money to a specific Tesla account referencing only your name. Not sure it would be good to give those instructions in a forum like this. If you are in a State such as Georgia and Texas as sublimaze1 mentioned it, would be best to be proactive about getting the paperwork and final payment instructions before you think your car might be finished. It doesn't seem like it would be a hangup if you are in States that don't have strong pro dealership laws. I think during your first contact with your DS about the delivery window he will tell you about payment options. Alot of people can make the final payment upon delivery so it isn't a universal problem, just another one I happened to fall into.

I am also in Georgia. What do you recommend once I get a VIN? I expect to get a VIN in the next 2 weeks. Thanks.

Oooh - I would be on the phone tomorrow (Wednesday) and get the ball rolling to get your account created (the account that you will wire funds) so that once things start rolling (e.g. VIN, line, and Burn) you will have already begun to (as Sparrow said) get them working on your financial side of your purchase so that you can have it finalized before the truck pulls up. If the truck pulls up and you haven't got this in line - considering you are like me, with pro-dealership laws - they will not put the vehicle on the truck as they cannot sell the car in GA. They must complete the transaction in another state = CA.

So make that call tomorrow and get the ball rolling. PM me if you need a contact.

I'm getting sig perf white exterior, with black interior, glossy wood interior. Very excited, except here in Chicago area snow isn't too far away. Hopefully I can get a few weeks in of good quality driving.
I am in Chicago and have not heard final date yet. Vin 680. I ordered my 19 in winter wheel/tire set and it has been shipped to the Chicago service center.

I wonder why my delivery specialist has mentioned none of this. In fact, the pre-paperwork he sent me simply asked me if I was going to write a check or wire etc.

rlawson4, the DS that covers Georgia is kept extremely busy. He seems to be at a point where he can just barely keep up with his current deliveries. I'm told that Tesla is changing their communication methods in the very near future. They plan on adding an inside delivery team to improve communications giving the DS more time to actually deliver the cars. In the meantime, your best bet is calling him on the phone and getting the payment information sooner than later. sublimaze1 is right that our payments will be processed in California and we will receive temporary California tags here in the State of Georgia. Tesla will then do the necessary paperwork to Title and Tag the car in Georgia. Since I am only now just awaiting the car, I can't really tell you yet how smoothly the process of getting the Georgia tag or title will go.
