Colasec, how was the delivery experience at Costa Mesa?

Great, actually. All the employees were excited for me and shook my hand. Michael, my Delivery Specialist, wasn't the one who did the walkthrough with me - it was another person (Christie? I didn't catch her name) but she was very helpful with the paperwork and with the car. She pointed out most of what is covered in the video walkthrough and then let me take my time going through Nick's delivery checklist. Everyone was really nice; the techs were happy to adjust my tire pressure for me (they said they are instructed to deliver at 45 psi despite the B-pillar's instruction of 42 psi) and seemed truly sorry that they weren't allowed to help me by swapping out the license plate lights (I had brought the LEDs just in case. turns out that it's very easy and I had no problem doing it myself).

The SC was very busy with many cars inside and others waiting outside, but I still felt like I got plenty of attention and consideration.

Congrats! Looking forward to seeing more pics...Where did you get the tint? Did you wrap the car too?

More pics, as requested. I got the tint from The Tint Pros in Huntington Beach. No, I would have liked to wrap it but decided that I wasn't comfortable splurging for Xpel.

I absolutely love the car. It's so much fun. It really does put a big smile on my face just to think about it, or sit in it, and man, it's fun to drive. I've been zooming around everywhere. Now, post-tint, paint correction and OptiCoat, it looks absolutely gorgeous. I like to look it almost as much as I like to drive it.

Thanks Jonathan, hopefully the weekend will go by quick and I can get my car soon!
I can feel your excitement, Hussain. You've got a fun week ahead of you! It seems that many deliveries are occurring early in the windows right now, which would be good for you. Your DS should be able to tell you exactly where your car is by now.

It took a full day. I dropped in off at 9am. As of 6pm they estimated they had another two hours to go, so I just picked it up the next day. I've heard that the black paint is particularly challenging.

Colasec - nice to see another 60kWh P155xx VIN. Glad to hear how much you're enjoying it already. I like how you jumped on the improvements. I tend to overthink everything when it comes time to pull the trigger. I'll dig around on the forums some more for what paint correction and opti-coat does for you, but why did you choose to get that done for your car? Looks sweet, but it's hard for me to tell from the pics the "before and after."

Between driving and work this week, I didn't get a chance to post my story or any pics. I took delivery Wed morning at the Rockville Service Center. Great folks up there (thanks Andrew). I noticed a couple of scuffs on the interior and very minor spots on the exterior, so I had them clean that up for me, no problem. They also debadged it for me (removed MODEL S and 60 badges). I like the clean look after my friend's E350 got that treatment. After my tutorial (which I probably could have passed on since I know most details from the forums already), I only had about 30 minutes to spare before a meeting in Bethesda (15-20 mins away). I wanted my wife and kids to have the experience ASAP, so I promptly moved 2 carseats from my wife's SUV to the S, buckled in the kids, and away we went!

This was their first time in the car. Of course I had to show them what it could do. Result - immediate (minor) whiplash for the wife and "HEY DADDY - why you do that?" from the 2 year old. We shot up and down the street for 10 minutes, then I switched the seats (and kids) back to her car and blasted off to my meeting. I ended up being 5 minutes late, but my client was 10 minutes late so it all worked out. The tricky part was that I was forced to valet my brand new baby within 30 minutes of getting my FOB. Fortunately I've parked in the same surface lot for years, so the guys all knew me and gave me a perfect spot (no cars near). When I came back from my meeting I gave the valets a quick tour of the car and answered their questions. They shared with me that 3 people stopped to take pictures of my S while I was in the 1 hr meeting. That was cool.

After driving for a couple of days, the grin is still firmly in place. I'm content with the performance of the 60 and it has blown away anybody who's been for a ride. Of course I haven't given a ride to anybody who's been in a P85 before. One of these days my practical side might be overcome by my eagerness to have the power of the performance edition, but not right now.... I have noticed a couple of minor things that I was aware of from forum chatter, but I'm not too concerned. The AC is pretty loud (in a weird hum kind of way) when blasting. Also, the pano design needs improvement to cut down the buffeting. Other than that, I can't wait to get up everyday to drive some more! We're roadtripping to NY for the weekend, so I will have to report back after my first SC/roadtrip experience.

I still don't have great pics - only a few snaps from my camera. The majority are on my DSLR which I will need to download later. Here are a few until that happens.

Thanks DC, I am quite excited, my DS told me that the car got done Wednesday and shipped the same day from Fremont to LV, and then on Thursday morning he said the car was only 6 hours away. Then Thursday night he said that it would probably be Friday or Monday. Now I think he's sort of under promising over delivering as his strategy. He knows how excited I am so he probably doesn't want to let me down. I can't wait, my wife knows I'm like on edge I'm so anxious.

I enjoyed reading your story and your pics are great! Here's to a hopefully short wait time remaining.

I've never had a black car before (nor a "nice" car) and I'd really like it to look awesome. I think the Model S is the most beautiful car I've ever seen and it's important to me that mine looks great, too. I would have loved to get a full wrap with Xpel but wasn't comfortable with the $3-4K price tag. I decided not to get a partial wrap because seeing the lines from the film would really bug me. OptiCoat seemed like the next best option for protection, even though it's more just protection from chemical elements like bird droppings instead of physical ailments like scratches and rock dings.

All those pics in my post above are "after". For the "befores", check out the detailer's Facebook album.
