This was a bad take. I’m guessing the actual probability of this occurring was closer to zero, rather than ~50/50. Should have come down on the other side of that guess! June maybe, September definitely? I tried to be optimistic for a change; I guess I live and learn.I’m of the opinion that the button will make an appearance sometime before the end of March for all people who have purchased FSD, in the US. (Someone above convinced me based on the 8.3 release that is claimed to be coming soon (which is not a significant release I guess).) But, I wouldn’t be THAT surprised if that turned out to be wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time something had not panned out as promised! I just have to come down on one side of the prediction, so that’s what I think will happen based on available info.
So, it seems to me that FSD buyers are very close now to receiving a beta Level 2 system (which I expect to be slightly more useful than Smart Summon in utility - so not too useful, except for someone who actually wants to be a beta tester). It’ll be interesting to see if that actually happens though. It would be a potentially significant event, though it won’t tell us much about level of progress towards the end goal (that may not even be that clear after the release). But it would be more informative than nothing at all!

........PureVision is going to take a long time to get working I would think.
NAV on city streets fills in the gap.
Me too but seems far too early given Elon's stated reason for the delay.hopeful we get the button next month.
Yes, but if you use this you need contacts tracing.Maybe Tesla should have bought out a working “PureVision” company that already had it working

Admittedly, I no longer pay any attention to Smart Summon or its technology (I don't think anyone else does either!), but it's not clear to me that it uses much vision at all. Whatever it is doing, I hope it is not applied to FSD Beta, though!I honestly think the "4d" will help for smart summon a ton. Then again, I'm pretty sure he led us to believe that the FSD BETA was in 4d prior to the release, now Beta 9 is when it's "Really 4d" lol
Like I said, more baitElon tweeted an update. We have to wait until next month now.
Reminds me of discussing in comments of articles with people that insist the cameras weren't good enough for detection (was case of crashing into police car). I pointed out that is not necessarily the case. The car may have detected the car, but just made the wrong decision and thus failed to avoid it. This becomes fully an AI/software problem, not a sensor problem.Numerous examples of the car deciding to pull out while ignoring oncoming cars that the car had displayed on the screen (so we know the car was seeing the cars) but just decided to ignore anyway.
More bullshyt from the man.Elon tweeted an update. We have to wait until next month now.
