Yup. I thought Waze did a great job last week getting me to a remote West Texas I lace that had no cell coverage at the destination or along most of the way.
Then I tried to start a trip to my next destination. Grrrr.

Even if it's not at mature beta level - let's get it activated - since the current navigation software has a number of quirks and many drivers end up using their smartphones for navigation...
If the software has both navigation packages - then just provide a way for us to select which app to use - and when the new software is working better than the current (which probably won't be too hard to do), then switch everyone over.

Pretty well if the maps are downloaded to your phone already! That’s one reason I downloaded Florida to my phone when Google started to support offline maps.
Beside the missing traffic data which always needs a cellular connection...

Because Google isn't aware of supercharger availability, the cars state of charge, how long it will take to charge at those superchargers etc etc. Google would not be willing to provide API's to plug all that data in I suspect.

What? You have some problem with "in THREE miles, turn left on some-word-produced-by-running-together-the-actual-street-name-and-the-St./Ln./Ave./etc.-suffix" ?
Because Google doesn't offer an API for turn by turn directions to third parties.

But, it wouldnt work if you wanted Supercharger data in there to include how long it takes to charge, and base the route on charge state etc.
That's a bad response, this could easily be handled by download tiles in advance, or hole regions for trips. There's no reason if google would offer a third party API that people couldn't use it. Ever used google maps / waze when you lose coverage and amazingly it stills works? Yes, it's because they cache it, your traffic data will get out of data, but the maps and turns still work.
True, but in this sense kinda isn't enough. Google still hides a bunch of the secret sauce for their internal apps to levrerage.
Also, I hope people temper there expectations for the "new" maps, these "new" maps have been on the M3 since day one, and there is no revolution happening...

I hope it rolls out quickly and also fixes my spontaneous MCU reboots that I am having. 3 on Friday and 2 Sunday while using navigation. Just instant black screen with full reboots. Lost Navi and HVAC which was especially bad on Sunday as my car fogged up instantly (weird weather in Atlanta last week).
Exactly. Haven’t we seen this show before? Rollout with issues, followed by a slow buildup until they reach near parity with the 3rd party they were too cheap to continue paying.

Beyond improving the route guidance, I think Tesla needs to roll out better search of the maps (esp via voice) and multi-waypoint trips. These features have been on cars for over a decade.
Am I the only one that actually liked the large, pictorial representation of highway exits? I think they were extremely clear and uncluttered. The new maps on the instrument cluster actually seem to have less detail in terms of street names, at least in the video showing 'current & new' depictions.

I currently am on brand new /has 144 miles when I got it on Friday/ S100D and it have it /new center display/
