No, you're not getting what those numbers are. This is for a fixed real distance between two points. Those numbers in the comment are the calculation of how many rated miles will be consumed to travel that route. In winter, there will be more energy use for heating, so it will use up MORE rated miles to drive that distance. Therefore the numbers shown will increase in winter, where it takes more rated miles to make the trip.

Therefore rated mileage decreases in winter. I think he understood it just fine.

No, "rated mileage" equals the miles that get taken off from your "ideal mileage" on a full charge. I should have said "rated mileage used", which is how its actually phrased on evtripplaner.

For example, my 85D has 272 rated miles on a full charge. The actual miles I get will depend on the weather, elevation differences, and how I drive it. If I do my normal ~350 W/mi, I only get about 230 real miles.

So to go from Memphis to LR, evtripplanner calculates I would use 207 rated miles to go the 163 actual miles. If I slowed down, I could get there in 168 rated miles. If I make the external temperature colder, the rated mileage used goes up.

Yep, this is a sad picture for sure.
You do have the HPWC (80A) available in Russellville, AR at the Super 8 Hotel - that's in between LR and OKC / Tulsa.

It sure will be nice when Interstate 69 is completed.
Confused by this statement. I-69 isn't planned to going near this point. Crosses obliquely thru the southeast corner of AR between LO and MS. Passes along the western edge of Memphis then up to Dyersburg. You have other information?

From interstate-guide.com:
Interstate 69 will enter Arkansas just southwest of El Dorado, parallel to U.S. 63 & 167. Segment 13 connects El Dorado with McGehee. While the highway will generally parallel U.S. 63, it will utilize a new alignment.

It might have been a general point prompted by my mentioning the ongoing I-69 construction in my post in relation to the route from Little Rock, AR to Kuttawa, KY .

Just started exploring charge options between Dallas and Memphis.

So no current fast-charging option for this route currently between TexArkana and Memphis?

Best hope is for Supercharger by Bass Pro sometime after May 2017, permit active for 2 days so far (per supercharge.info)?

What is Tesla waiting for ?

The permit was only discovered two days ago by a TMC member, who relayed that to supercharge.info.
It could very well start construction tomorrow for all we know.

Rhetorical question? If not, as has been posted here before and may or may not be correct, current Arkansas law states that any entity which disburses electricity for any purpose to another entity for any price other than free is an electrical utility, and is regulated as an electrical utility; only 1 electrical utility is permitted per geographic area. So, only the currently existing electrical companies are allowed to provide EV charging stations. So, only 1 DCFC in the state now, its new, and up around Walmart's HQ.

That law is supposed to be changing this quarter.

I hear what you're saying, but has anyone noticed the Holiday Inn Airport is charging a $10 fee to charge Teslas? They're not a utility. We'd better keep that one quiet or they may discontinue it.

That kind of law exists in a lot of states I think. That is why Tesla and Blink and ChargePoint and many others are not technically "selling electricity" in those states. They are charging you "minutes" of being connected to their equipment. That is how they can easily get around those laws.

I am planning the Memphis to Texarkana trip late this Spring. I doubt if the LR SC will be ready by then
. Aside from the Holiday Inn it looks like using a NEMA 1450 at an RV park along the way might be the best way to get those extra electrons. RV50 is faster than J1772 and less likely to be ICED.

The Holiday has two Tesla HPWC 's rated for 48A (reported) and they might be your best bet.
