And another surprise Melbourne site (in the East).
This time spotted under construction by Grant G on TM3Y FB group.

At the Como Centre. Reportedly 4 stalls.

Appears that the carpark doesn't have any free parking allowance.

Drove in and out of town twice today. Stuck on Punt rd checking out how many free around 12pm and 4pm
Was not that many free was 1 at most of these. Hence you assume why the new one at South Yarra.

There are a few non Tesla like BP, Ampol, Evie popping up West and North
be nice a Supercharger or two on main roads coming in from Geelong or Hume

Suspect it all comes down to availability of power, ease and cost of dealing with distribution networks. Or maybe the Supercharger 'salesman' in the East is good.

I note that Melbourne is split into four electrically - and the recent openings have all been in Citipower and United Energy territory

It has alot to do with local councils thinking they are a waste of time. I have been lobbying local councils through TOCA and the response from many in the west is "why would we want this".

Its an ongoing battle to convince in many cases older male councillors who are stuck in the past.

Edit: If anyone wants to help who lives in the west please ring your local councillors directly and chat with them, alot of time their numbers are listed on the council website. Speak about the economic and social benefits to their area that EV charging will bring.

Could also be how many Tesla's are charged in home vs out of home. People who own a Tesla outer suburbs will normally charge at home.
Be a lot more people in appartments with Tesla's inner city.
If Tesla was smart it know where you charge when you are not at home.

A few 4's around everywhere not be bad rather then one 8 or 12 stall and nothing for 10km

These inner-east superchargers are likely targeting to apartment dwellers.

But there are still plenty of apartment dwellers in the inner-west. Lots of terrace housing without off street parking too. Not to the extend of the East, but still significant.

isn't the only one.
The only other one that charges for the first hour is the very recently opened Wangaratta site, and only during weekdays and it's only $1.10 per hour.

All the other paid carparks have 1-3 free hours.. 45min should be sufficient for most Tesla's.

Whereas here at Como that hour is going to cost you $12-15 (hourly, weekend or night rate), unless you also go to the movies. That's a pretty substantial increase over a typical $20-30 charge (at circa 70c/kWh)

Different in places like NY or HK where almost all carparks are billed.
