Per supercharger thread, Richmond is closing in under a week (30 Jan 2024).

This will be the first permanent site to close in Vic.

To be determined if the entire Tesla showroom/ service site is also closing?

Richmond was the 3rd Supercharger site to open in Australia after St. Leonard's and The Star in Sydney, and at almost 8.5 years the longest operating site in Australia.

With the closure, Goulburn will take over the longest operating site mid year.

I have a service there 31 January and I seems they have service timeslots into February. So not closing the centre imminently.

Probably makes sense given how small and cramped this site is, and the growth of the market since it was first opened.

Possibly also comes down to the readiness of the Oakleigh South site. Anyone driven by it recently?

The nine month old shot on Google shows the site had been razed to the ground.

The former Sidetracked Entertainment Centre in Oakleigh South has been sold for $17m. And the new owner’s plans for the go kart venue involve four-wheeled vehicles.

I don't understand how Oakleigh South would help. It's pretty far from Richmond no? Superchargers in St Kilda are closer from Oakleigh towards the city, and Dandenong in the opposite direction I think...

Abbotsford and South Yarra (which have already opened) replace the Supercharger.

Oakleigh South being talked about more as a replacement service centre/ showroom.

Richmond has been removed from app and website today so presume closed.. have updated the Wiki.

I don't know about the Melbourne ones, but my local service centre usually plugs them into a wall connector when they're being looked at - they have a few in the parking area and some attached to the hoists in the workshop.

Just called in and asked the question, sales and service are staying, it’s just the superchargers that are leaving

Interesting that St.Kilda is busy but Abbotsford and South Yarra (possibly understandable as the cheap parking validation ends at 6pm)
