I was complaining that the superchargers were too expensive until someone told me that all SC profits go toward expansion and once that normalizes, rates will go down.

Prices may drop if the cost of the network drops. I don't have a lot of insight into costs but I think the top four are land acquisition, manufacturing, installation, and demand charges.
  • Manufacturing costs will drop with scale -- a Tesla specialty.
  • Demand charges will drop with higher utilization or battery localization
  • Installation is super expensive for now. Perhaps Tesla will scale enough to bring installation in-house

The form factor is perfect. Cargo room, efficiency, and acceleration are all best in class. It is an absolute blast to drive and works for like 99.9% of what I attempt to do with a vehicle on a daily basis. Hell.. there is even an available 3rd row in an absolute pinch.

That said I do have my gripes. It's an incredibly stiff ride, No CarPlay, Blindspot monitoring sucks, No rear cross-traffic alerts, No HUD, and No ventilated seats are my big ones. If Tesla ever added most of these features... I would almost certainly upgrade. They are features I've used for years now on other vehicles and miss them terribly on my Y. Ironically the Ioniq5 & EV6 do have all these features.. but then I'd be giving up the things that Tesla does better than anybody else: Superchargers, OTA updates, and Smartphone App. Until somebody gives me everything.. I'll keep driving what I have.

Perfect is a very subjective term when talking of cars.
The Y is a great car from many standpoints.

For me though, it is too big. I would love to see a smaller, less expensive version that more people could afford (once production capacity increases). For me, that would be ‘perfect’.

Too late to edit my post. But powered roof shade should also be added to list of gripes. Crazy it hasnt happened already. Practically every $50K vehicle has huge glass roof these days.. and they all find a way to include a sunshade for when you don’t want to drive around in a oven.

I love my Model Y. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but it's very good and probably among the best of what's available.

My complaints:
  • The suspension sucks. It's almost as good as the suspension in my '95 Ford Escort.
  • Interface: they need Apple Car Play or to at least open up the API to allow external apps.
  • Interface: They took a huge step backwards with V11 and still haven't fixed all the problems they caused with it.
  • TACC: Phantom braking/slowing makes it worst in class. It's been slowly improving, so I'm hopeful that this complaint will resolve.
  • Road noise could be better. Not a huge issue for me, but when you look at the price it doesn’t meet expectations.
  • Did I mention the ride sucks?
At its original price point it was a good value. Currently, Tesla has jacked up the price to a point that there are other good options for less. Hopefully the market will normalize soon.

The Y is certainly the best value vehicle that Tesla sells. I am on my second one. Owned all the other models (except Roadster) twice. No comparison.

Add that mirror blind spot light and rear storage lid and we will be nearing perfection.

Already ordered a 2023!

Many people hate Apple products, does that make Apple product all bad?
Haters gonna hate.
Most people don’t hate Apple products, they hate Apple, and more specifically they hate Apple fanboys. There’s actually a lot of similarities between Apple and Tesla that way - as soon as you dare find fault with an Apple product you’re derided as a ’hater.’ Sound familiar?

Just like most people don't like the MY/MYP suspension setup! LOL
Also, there are many people hate the Apple products, not because their products suck, just because they don't like the Apple's approach to their product and ecosystem just like Tesla. Your "people hate Apple because of the fanboys" statement is just not true.
So, "MY/MYP suspension sucks!" opinion is very minority opinion (as you just said in your Apple example).

Never said the majority don’t like it, but a significant number don’t, and that includes professional reviewers, too. Just looking around easily confirms that if you’re not drunk on Boone’s Farm. If you’re happy with cheap wine I won’t try to convince you there’s something better.

Two days into ownership, I mostly love it, but I'm really surprised and distressed at how horrible the visibility in the rearview mirror is. This is my first time driving a Y, they only had a Model 3 when we did a test drive a year ago. I've spent plenty of time driving vehicles with no rearview mirror, so I'm used to using my side mirrors, but with all that glass you'd think they could have done better. Or put a camera in the back and a small display where the rearview mirror goes.
