Tesla Model 3 in Australia

The challenge is that when we ordered before July when the performance variant had 'premium interior.' When you clicked on the link that listed what 'premium interior' had it mentioned these features with no mention at all that they were time limited. That means that the average reader would take from that description they were not time limited. It was on that basis that a contract for the sale of the car was entered. Tesla should honour that. It has only been since July that the 1 year limitation was mentioned on the relevant part of the sales path.

Your contract will be when there was an offer, an acceptance and consideration paid.

ie whatever was being offered with it's description and terms & conditions, and whatever you accepted (in writing) and paid your deposit - that is your contract. You should have that document. Have a look and whatever it says, is what you will get. (unless Tesla gets generous and gives you more)

Yes but the contract is not that granular, which is not surprising. It does not say 'has a windscreen' nor 'steering wheel included', for example. So it goes that what was represented on the web site is also germane to determining the question of what we get.
Any representation made on any marketing material can safely be assumed as included (regardless of contract) under Australian Consumer Law. Any verbal representation is the same, but clearly harder to prove.

I’m considering getting the windows tinted, however from my research the back glass, due to its size, can prove to be a challenge for most installers. My personal preference would be for the whole back section to be done in one piece and not two.

Anyone have recommendations for window tint specialists in Sydney?

Hi, I have used Universal Tint in Brookvale for 3 cars now and they have always been excellent. universaltint.com.au I plan on taking the model 3 to them for a quote once I get it.

Their wrapping and paint protection has looked good on cars I have seen there but I'm not really interested in getting that done.

These guys were really good for my Model S. In Hornsby, the premium tint cost $500.

Configurator change!
  • LR AWD available
  • Base (free) paint is PEARL white
  • No Performance 'lite'
  • Only Performance + at increased price.
  • White interior option with Performance only
  • September delivery
Wow!
Wow! But unless I’m mistaken, looks like the car with Pearl White Multicoat remains the same price as it was before (SR+) and all the other paint colours have therefore gone up in price.

No it is definitely cheaper for pearl white now. Around $2000 cheaper.
True, sorry - I’d got mixed up. Checked the original paperwork and it has gone down by the cost of the pearl white paint which was originally a $2,100 option.

On a related note, my order agreement has disappeared from my account page - has anyone else’s?

Tesla discontinued the LR RWD variant, including the off menu, in the USA today. Don’t think we will see it unless they start losing demand. White with longer range AWD will be so good for sales in Australia. Can’t wait until I see them driving on the roads in Melbourne.

Is anyone cancelling today and reordering for white?

A nice big saving for anybody who wanted the white exterior... unless you also wanted the Performance Lite in which case you now get the LRAWD for the same money or have to take the full performance for 6200 more +LCT and SD

I wanted the white interior on a blue car but not the full performance (which it is only available in) - so having to spend nearly $10.4k more for it means I will not be re-ordering! I will live with the black.

Delivery date listed now as September is huge!

Until this change it presumably meant that Tesla thought they could still build a car in time to make the shipment for August.

Presumably this is no longer the case, they can't make any more in time for this shipment, the cars for August delivery will be making their way to the dock and onto the ship and over here!

Hopefully soon we'll be seeing cars at the dock and be able to track a ship a ship bound for au/nz.

Of course this all depends on only one shipment for August and probably a few other variables like how organised they are etc.
