Would the cars be taken out of the containers at the port?
No expert here but I don't think so. Normally containers go onto trucks and except for inspection purposes aren't opened at ports.

Hmm, I dont have "Prepare for Delivery" ticked. I put my delivery address in (Christchurch) even though I want to fly to Auckland to collect. I wonder if Auckland deliveries are prioritised perhaps? No we ordered sr+. "Prepare for delivery" is ticked.
They'll be taken to the euphoria containment and holding facility I'd suspectHard to say. The 3 demo cars seen on the street together 2 weeks ago came out of the direction of the port. But this is not a predicator of larger number of containers in Auckland. It’s a bigger logistically task than having 3 drivers.

Definitely thinking into it too much then! It is interesting that some buyers are getting VINs and some (me) are not. Lots of possible reasons though. Finance selection could be another reason.I was told in the Tesla showroom that South Island would be prioritised due to the longer lead in time so that deliveries are received across the country at the same time.
Yup, I feel the same. Plus I have declared custom plates. That could be another factor as well.Finance selection could be another reason.
How do you know if you have a VIN, my account just has ‘pending trade in valuation within 24 hours’.Yup, I feel the same. Plus I have declared custom plates. That could be another factor as well.
Click on Tesla Account. Click on the image of your car. View source (if using Chrome browser it is Ctrl U) and search for vin.How do you know if you have a VIN
This. Search in the source for 5yj3. This is the start of all Model 3 vinsClick on Tesla Account. Click on the image of your car. View source (if using Chrome browser it is Ctrl U) and search for vin.
And no VIN for that too. The waiting continues..This. Search in the source for 5yj3. This is the start of all Model 3 vins
Woops, in my excitement to finish the ordering process I never saw the bit about custom plates, did they specifically mention it?Yup, I feel the same. Plus I have declared custom plates. That could be another factor as well.
Tesla sorred out importing cars years ago. The customs process is not slow. There appears to be speculation that this car assignment started in NZ because the cars arrived on a container ship. If that is the case, then the most likely ship appears to be SEOUL EXPRESS that arrived recently and will be going on to AUS with estimated arrival this Friday:
SEOUL EXPRESS - Container Ship (IMO: 9193305, MMSI: 211331640) | MyShipTracking
So this could be it, or it might just be wishful thinking. If they did arrive, they still have to get processed by customs and what other hoops the governments have set for importing vehicles, so don't any one hold their breath and just wait for Tesla to sort that all out.

If so I guess a phone call tomorrow can sort it. I have my VIN at least...
No, all containers are loaded on trucks and taken away after the customs inspectionsWould the cars be taken out of the containers at the port?
There will be another boat in another week, and another week after that. Tesla wont want all cars at once.Definitely thinking into it too much then! It is interesting that some buyers are getting VINs and some (me) are not. Lots of possible reasons though. Finance selection could be another reason.
