Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Thought I saw a black Model 3 while driving back from lunch today. Ran the plate though (ITESLA) and it's actually a Model S from 2015. It was still really shiny for being 4 years old!

And speaking of running plates, one of the known QLD VINs I've been intermittently stalking has been registered:

5YJ3F7EB0KF443283 - TSL43 - Registered 17/09/2019

Still no hits for my 4882XX series VIN, however. Payment sent yesterday, rego forms sent today, no comms from Tesla although the payment reflects in the order page source-code (which for some reason also appears to show an outstanding amount of $82 due for "sales tax"?).

Have any SR+ vehicles been delivered / scheduled for delivery before the end of next week in WA ?
Yes, I know of 10 SR+ for next week (unless the owners haven't reported delays.
It looks like they finished their stock of P3D+ at Autonexus, since the first P3D- came out today, but no more of them scheduled until early October (of which I am aware).
Six deliveries today ! I am loosing track - I only know of 4 :)

I joined a few ten thousands of people in The Domain in Sydney today, looking to "accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation...", amongst other things.

I think for the next demonstration, I will have to make up a Tesla-themed protest poster.

From another forum space a user posted the following after he took delivery:

"noted quite a few small issues - paint defects including "a large drip dried into the finish", scratches/chips, missing clips, dirty fingerprint marks to the interior, misaligned window rubbers, paint damage under the front hood"

There is a strong pattern with the build quality issues it seems after I have read what seems to be the same issues constantly reappearing:

  • Paint defects related to issues at the paint shop in the factory. Contaminants, dripping paint or missed metals not painted.
This one has been existent since the Model 3 first started production more than a year ago. Sad to see little has improved.

  • dirty fingerprint marks to the interior,
Lost count the number of times I have read this one. I hope this is actually occurring at transport by workers with filthy hands touching the pillars and not actually happening on the production line as that would be worse.

  • paint damage under the front hood
Have heard several reports of this again. Most likely somewhere during transport they scrape the underside of the cars fairly regularly.

So anyone taking delivery, these are probably the areas you really should focus on as they seem to come up again and again and really Tesla needs to address them given that no doubt they see the issues pop up again and again in their service centre bookings.

Yes you can buy type-2 to 2 extension leads, they just need to be the correct one because a standard one wont work. Needs to be an "extension".

As long as they are the proper wire size etc (which they are) the length is unlikely to present much of an issue. People forget that we pipe 400V 32A all the time for concerts and events etc.

Geat, I will get a sparkie around and connect that all up to the 3 phase then :) Last price I saw was $295 for the extension, not cheap, but better safe than cheap I guess...

I picked it up from Richmond. I didn't have these issues (or not aware it yet).

But there was another one next to mine waiting for delivery has a lot of micro-scratches.

I will send my car to the detailer for PPF on Monday and they will fix all paint defects before the installation. I will ask them on their opinions on the paint quality on my car.

Had the call ! 1261 days after reservation. P3- 4887XX series.

Delivery specialist said it arrived in Auckland a few days ago (and just turned up on CARR & HASLAM yesterday) so it sounds like Melina rather than Merkur Ocean @Vedaprime

If I pick up from Auckland late next week (rather that delivery to Wellington which may be after 30 September) 1500km supercharger credits on offer. I feel a road trip coming on...

Note sure if it helps this thread to identify build dates but I assume the S came in one of the ships you guys are tracking. Invoice indicates build date of 15 July 2019 and VIN of 5YJSB7E48KF332***. Does this mean there are already more model #s built than the total of model S's? That would be pretty awesome considering how long each car has been around. Hope that helps somehow!

Got the call from Tesla today.
Delivery date 24 Sept 2019 at Alexandria (Sydney)
Midnight Silver, P3+, Black. No FSD.
VIN: 443xxx
Reserved: May 2018
Ordered: 1 June 2019
Did not email or contact Tesla outside of website processes.

Apologies if you have the same spec but an earlier reserve date and not got a delivery date yet.

Just got a call - No Caller Id - and moved earlier to this Sunday!
I said “you’re open Sundays!” with the reply “only for this week”. Exciting!!

Any chance of a standard power socket at work, even for a week or so? In a 9 hour workday you could add maybe 15kWh into your battery, enough for at least 80km. Do another 12 hours overnight and you might just make it!

Edit: also noticed that there is a 22kW Tesla Destination charger at the Atura Hotel Dandenong. At 11kW, this will give you about 55km/h, so maybe long boozy lunches are also in order?

Yeah 10hr work day and charge at night and hopefully will make it. Otherwise supercharger in Richmond on the way home. But the long lunch does sound like a good option

Good stuff. I did the protest in Brisbane. The images of the March that stretched from the CBD over Victoria Bridge to Musgrave park were impressive, especially for conservative Brisbane. To keep it on topic I have to say that I didn't see any model 3s on my way back to work afterwards.
