I reckon they don’t no *sugar* after the end of the 1/4 push. It will be all about getting 1/4 results. They will have allocated like crazy to move as much as they can..... Then they will worry about everything else... that’s my guess.... but no vin concerns me. But another guy on Facebook had no vin until a few days before delivery....
No VIN means roughly another month for us. But the facebook guy could be anything. I have heard someone got their car earlier cause they changed spec, someone said they were early reservation holder or someone might just could not make it. I will be oversea quite soon. So if a car was ready but I couldn't make it, I don't think it is going wait for me.

Picked up my car from Melbourne today. P3D-

The Good
I was not prepared for how amazingly delightful it is to drive. I never accelerated fast during the drive home as I was too busy enjoying the one pedal driving and the sheer smoothness. Excellent driving dynamics.

The Bad
This was without doubt the worst delivery of a new car I have ever had. Quite a few issues (mostly cosmetic) but it shows that Tesla clearly don't bother to even check if the car is in one piece before delivering it:

-Lots of dirt around the car, not much effort to make it presentable.
-Several scratches to paint (some deep that will probably need respray)
-A Dent on one of the panels
-Chipped edge of the rear windscreen
-Misalligned door strikes....Rear passenger on one side can't open the door form inside at all!
-One of the rear tail lights is not aligned and is sticking out
-Massive damage to the skirting underside...almost certainly from car carrier not giving a f***k while transporting the vehicle.

I had the delivery agent take note and pictures of most of these and log it in the iPad. When I asked how I would address any further issues I discover he said I should "call the panel beaters" and gave me a list of them around Melbourne. Is this correct? I thought I had read here that is incorrect and we should lodge these issues via the app?

All in all, I love the car but man Tesla really needs to lift their game...I have seen 2nd hand cars delivered in better state. Some of these issues were there from factory (eg door and rear tail lights misalignment) but many many others were almost certainly caused by whatever backyard dodgy car carriers they contracted for the transport.

The most exciting day turned into a day of disappointment. Some of my friends suggested I should not have accepted the car but it's too late now. I am just hoping now that they can be fixed without causing further damage.:(

I can't believe how many people have posted pictures like this so far, absolutely unacceptable for a brand new vehicle. They really need to get their *sugar* together.

I think the approach they are taking at the moment is to deliver the cars ASAP instead of delaying delivery a week or more to fix all the cosmetic and adjustment issues they arrived with. That way they get people into their cars now and can resolve the issues when they have the capacity, parts and time to do it properly. It’s not great, but the logistics are so crazy right now the alternative is waiting weeks or months longer to get your car.

I've waited a long time already and I'll be waiting longer if I find damages to my car because I sure as hell won't be accepting it.

-Chipped edge of the rear windscreen

My front windscreen has identical looking chips down one edge (bottom, driver's side).

I'm pretty okay with it. These cosmetic/exterior finish issues shouldn't be there, yes. But none of them affect the driveability of the car. Fixing them later is an okay plan imo, so long as they ultimately do get fixed.

Anyways, got to do some driving in the rain today. Auto windshield-wipers mostly work well, but don't seem to trigger if your windshield is getting covered with mist from driving behind another car on wet roads. The car can still accelerate like crazy even in the wet, and the tires/traction control have plenty of grip around corners/through roundabouts too.

This wouldn't keep happening if people just refused to sign for damaged cars, I disagree that this is okay in any way shape or form.

Unfortunately, as a start up, Tesla must keep selling vehicles at a rate where the market won't severely punish them for non-performance. To do that, whilst they have a virtual monopoly in this sector of the market and a demand to match, they bite off more than they can chew and start chewing like mad. The aim for this quarters end is 110,000 cars worldwide and anything less than 100,000 will be viewed by Tesla and especially the haters, as a disaster. In the big picture, the end justify the means and any complaints and bad press on delivery pales into insignificance when there is literally no alternative for customers to go.
All the vehicles will be fixed to a reasonable level and concerns will be diminished after next Monday when the quarter has ended and attention reverts back to the customers and their needs.

No VIN and haven't heard anything from Tesla other than a text a couple of weeks ago, I've kept my expectations low because of everything I've read but even still I'm really not impressed with this lack of communication.

Clearly I won't have the car in September like they told me when I ordered but come on, a heads up on which month it'll actually be coming would be nice. Like others have said on here I certainly won't leave out this part when someone asks about the process of buying a Tesla.
they do survey you after delivery so there is an opportunity to identify the deficiencies in delivery then.

Picked up P- from Richmond this morning.

The Good
Richmond was running a bit behind when we rocked up (20mins) and were promptly offered complementary coffee and cake at the very good coffee shop across the road.

Handover was straight forward and we were walked through the basics. Staff member was as helpful as possible. Asked about Homelink, and like everyone else was told to log it on the app for the Homelink installation.
Car clean and nicely presented. Pointed out a couple of shipping sticker residues here and there which were promptly cleaned off.
Overall car look great. panels & doors aligned, paint good, all glass good.
Delivered with the latest 32.2.2 software.
Odo showing 6kms on handover.
Charged to 85%
Underneath straight and clean no marks or transporter damage. Wheels clean and no marks.

The Bad - not much to say.
Only one tiny paint scratch on the edge of the front wheel arch. Just needs a small touch up. About 2-3mm. Clearly a handling issue. That's all picky me could find.

Drove the 85kms home. Autopilot was enabled after the car calibrated itself (only took about 10kms)
I used autopilot for about 40% on the way home no issues. Autopilot seemed determined to sit in the centre of the lane making fairly continuous very slight steering corrections to stay in centre. More than you or I would with normal driving. Having said that, it was Eastlink freeway which has wide lanes. I was also surprised at how little wind noise there was when I opened the drivers window say 30-40mm for some fresh air.
No squeaks or rattles.
The car is feels bigger at home. I am very pleased.

I tried autopilot on the local roads in my housing estate once. There are no markings down the center of the road. It seemed to assume that the entire street was one really wide lane, and then proceeded to drive straight down the middle. Not recommended.

On roads with proper markings, however, it's legitimately impressive.

I picked up my SR+ from Sydney today and drove it back to Canberra.

The Good
As far as I can tell the car is flawless. I couldn’t find any panel gaps or scratches or anything like that. Maybe that’s because I’m not really a car guy (just a Tesla guy) so I don’t know how to do a thorough inspection. But the car looks amazing, and if there is a small swirl in the paint somewhere I don’t really care.
I thought the handover process went smoothly, except for the part where my delivery specialist was confused because she couldn’t find my plates (I had them, because I had to register the car in the ACT myself).
The car handles really well, and it only took a few minutes to get used to the one-pedal driving.
The acceleration is much better than expected. I absolutely do not need any more acceleration than what the SR+ has to offer.
The sound system is very good, and after opening up Spotify on my phone it appeared on the car screen.
After a brief stop to enable autopilot, I used that for most of the trip home and I have to say it felt solid. Except when I tried it in a roundabout, but I knew that was unlikely to work and I was ready to take over. (I am of course always ready to take over.)
Navigation automatically added a supercharger stop to my route, so I stopped in Goulburn to supercharge for a few minutes. I got a 100kW charging rate. (Not sure if that’s limited by the car or the supercharger.) But that’s fast enough.

The Bad
I don’t have much bad to say, other than perhaps wishing for some features that aren’t available in Australia yet. Like navigate on autopilot. Having to disengage autopilot every time I want to switch lanes was somewhat annoying, mostly because I know that these features exist and I paid for them.

Yesterday I was a bit upset because Tesla first pushed back my delivery and then just didn’t show, but today all is forgiven. I still think Tesla should work on their communication, but I can’t stay mad at them and I won’t dwell on it.
