Must not be many smart people driving cars then (see Repo Man), because pretty much nobody drives on 10 through West Texas, at least in comparison to other routes. It is, rightfully, the last cross country highway Tesla is getting finished. Of course they have been pretty slow about it, but that's Tesla. Be happy you're not trying to do trans-Canada (which has even fewer people and is much further from completion).

Well, technically correct, but what about I-94 through ND? That has always been my preferred car route from SEA to MSP. Last year I had to detour and use I-90 (oh the horror of it still burns an indelible image in my brain).

Ok, so I don't get banned for veering off-topic, it looks to me like I-29 between Fargo and Souix Falls is the only section of interstate that is NOT on Tesla's long-range map. Is this an oversight or really unnecessary?

Well, I-94 goes from nowhere to nowhere, as opposed to being a nowhere portion of a cross-country route. So it's a completely different thing, even less interesting and less traveled than West Texas.

But Elon spent a portion of his youth in Swift Current, Saskatchewan (which makes all those other nowheres look like somewheres) so I'm sure all these places will get some Tesla supercharger love eventually.

"Thank you for contacting the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission concerning car charging at the service plazas. You will be pleased to know that Tesla is currently negotiating with HMSHost, the company that manages the service plazas along the Turnpike.
The two companies are working now to come to an agreement to install the charging stations at our service plazas. Since these negotiations are between HMSHost and Tesla, we have little information to share with you at this time. Once an agreement is reached, we will be informed. Please check back with us in a few months, which is when we may have more news.
Thanks again for your interest in electric car charging at our service plazas and for making the Pennsylvania Turnpike one of your travel routes.

It's not just Superchargers either. There really aren't a lot of any kind of chargers.
I just drove down from the Boston area to visit my office in the Philly suburbs. Getting there was fine, but I had to stop and top of my charge in NJ before heading into PA because there were no good charging options once there.

Which reminds me, I need to figure out how to request Hilton to add some destination charges to the hotel I normally stay at.

I haven't included the gray pins which say opening in 2019 (like Burns OR) because there are too many of them and Tesla's long term supercharger projections are not well correlated with what actually ends up happening.

The gray pins which say there is a target opening date in 2018 are included in the above, just not the ones that say target opening of 2019. Few of the 2018 targets will hit the mark - most of those will be pushed out to 2019 or beyond - so the 2019 pins are really just aspirational.

Huh. From the map, there is just "open now" and opening soon", so I didn't think they had any detailed timing listed anymore. But I see if you click into it, then if you click on any specific grey one, it does show the year. I hope you found a way to scrape that info from somewhere instead of having to click on each one and write it down.

The urban Supercharger Station in a Tigard OR (Portland area) parking garage has no charge for parking. Depends on the city and how limited and expensive parking normally is, I would guess.

By the way, urban superchargers charge about as fast as you would in a paired stall at a regular supercharger.

The three major sources I look at (tesla.com, in-car nav, and supercharge.info) all show the Urban Supercharger sites as supplying 72 kW. The “standard” sites are listed as 120 kW.

Learned about the "urban superchargers" yesterday. I went to check out the new supercharger in Arden Fair in Sacramento. First off, the map in the car has some screwy location ... I never would have found the chargers if I didn't see someone else in a Tesla!

This morning I was thinking that it would be best if the map in the car showed the supercharger locations color coded based on the max capacity per port. The 120kW stations would continue to be red but the 72kW urban chargers some other color (blue?), and locations with megachargers would be gold.
