Oh long, long ago…..

I started with a boot liner as I find them invaluable. Then you need one for the frunk too or, well, that’s just unfair….. and that was the beginning. It looks like Santa’s grotto in the dining room at the minute. Wifey is being very tolerant but the fact I rolled the boot liner out on the dining room table to flatten it out wasn’t too well received!
Ha! I'm trying to hold off on a lot of purchases until I definitely know I need them. The main things I'll be getting in advance are:
  • Screen protector
  • NFC ring key
  • Ceramic coating or PPF (most likely the former, PPF is insanely expensive)
  • Window tints

My delivery is pencilled in for 30th. When would people expect Tesla to send out reg plate so that I can finalise insurance?
You reg will be appear on your final invoice. You should receive it approx. 10 days before delivery/collection. I'm collecting on the 29th but got my details early as my 3rd party finance provider needs the invoice and registration details. I'd suggest giving Tesla a call but check your invoice if you've already had it through.

Check this out, my brother in law sent me a photo of a car he’s working on.
A M3P with the yoke wheel plus aftermarket alloys.. looks good!

Yesterday I was able to modify my order to match one of the inventory cars which came up. I've received a text saying my delivery date is now being calculated. I'm collecting from Southampton so I'm hoping I'll be able to get it before the end of the month?

My list:
Tesla roof bars £430 (you can get cheaper 3rd party ones but they don't look anywhere near as good.)
Tesla console trays £18
Dog seat cover (because apparently I can't shut the dog in the boot) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0844PYP66 £30
Underseat vent grill covers https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08TWWT942 £13
3d Floor mats 2021 Tesla Model 3 Floor Mat 3D All-Weather Anti-Slip Waterproof Full Cover Floor Liners Set Carpet Set Compatible with Tesla Model 3 2021 : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive £122
Boot liner https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08JLRF6D3 £55
Under boot and froot mats https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08CMR424C £45
Jack pads https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B097XJKKBP £15
Cup holder insert (mostly in case of spillage) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09536JFLZ £14
memory card & usb adaptor https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07P4HBRMV £43
Mini compressor https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08M93DPDV £29
Dynaplug tyre repair tool https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LM7CSVE £70
Door seal kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07R13DYYY £30
Pedal covers https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B085L8DDTN £15
Boot side divider https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZNBTQGB £14
HD screen protector https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KXR6QH7 £19
Wireless controller adaptor (to stop my son chewing the tyres up playing beach buggy) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074KX4225) £20
Also Usb C to lightning + Usb c to Usb c cables for use in the back and the devices that don't do wireless charging,

+ I already had:
Wash stuff bilt hamber auto-foam, auto-wash, auto-wheel + foam sprayer for jet wash, wash mitt, buckets with grit guards, auto-qd (as drying agent), clay bar, carnauba wax, microfibre cloths
Thule cycle carriers which should fit the Tesla roof bars (the T nut size is a standard right?)

Really tempted by ceramic coating so the paint stays in good condition for a few years (resale value), but not sure about the logistics of dropping the car off and leaving it for a couple of days.

I'm not going to add it all up

Saturday couldn't come sooner!

The missus thinks I'm nuts counting down the days, but she doesn't drive. So she can't comprehend the enjoyment sitting behind that wheel, and just mashing that accelerator
I think even if you drive ICE cars it is very hard to compare the experience of driving a TESLA vs ICE cars vs Other electric cars. The way Tesla drives including some of the autopilot features are more reminiscent of how human beings drive. Yes, there are some glitches like ghost braking and sudden acceleration and bit of twitchiness if you try and take control of the car from autopilot. But these are exceptions and these can be learned and with some tips can be managed safely. But make sure you don't get over enthusiastic on day 1 - as there is a bit of learning to do on the auto pilot side of things (not FSD) especially in round abouts in UK. Think of it as an American car more suitable for American highways and needs bit of learning when we use this in some of our quirky British motorways and A roads. You tube videos are helpful to learn basic stuff but when you drive you learn a bit of the quirkiness of the car - example how to manage ghost braking - keep your steering position slightly away from the truck more in a 2'0 clock direction than in a 11'0 clock - same applies to motorway exits as the M3 slows down considerably or brakes if you are hugging the left lane and close towards an exit roadmarkings etc.,

Enjoy your Model 3.

What model have you gone for? I’ve just had my RN come through and I was hoping for a similar scenario!

Got a white M3LR with aero wheels and black interior on order.

Most likely wishful thinking on my part 😅

Might want to consider adding some new lights to replace the existing ones, especially the boot lights, as they're not particularly bright. Also the rear passenger footwell lights are useful, although I think you need premium interior to install as they piggyback off of the front footwell lights.

Went from M3LR to SR+. Blue with black interior and tow hitch. Decided the SR+ was going to plenty good enough with a significant saving.

I'd been chekcing the inventory daily even after the initial order and around lunchtime yesterday about 15-16 cars popped up. Wasn't a problem to change.
