Pretty sure the current Banbury is still there at the moment . seems odd to be building a second one so close though. Must be an error on the map?

Edit They are also showing Warwick Northbound as coming soon with a pin about 30 miles away from Warwick north , south of Banbury so not only the wrong status but the wrong place as well. I stopped at Warwick North last week and it was very much open.
It may be an expansion, but strange they got the location so wrong.

Interesting theory, but I'm not convinced. That looks like Instavolt (based on the use of Alpitronic chargers), though the application is by the site owner. It appears to be tapping existing 11kV supply on the site, rather than involving any major power works - so there isn't really anything to piggyback off, if anything this set of 8 stalls may have hoovered up all the spare power and leave not much over. Also it's a relatively small site - the application justifies the loss of parking spaces on the basis of a survey showing max usage 87% on Saturdays, so there's not a huge load of room to spare.

Gridserve have proposals for one of their forecourts in the Warwick area, so it could be related to this as there are Superchargers at the current forecourts.

The new Banbury location has a Costa, a restaurant and a hotel, not to mention a load of Instavolt chargers who have plans for 24 hour toilets and they must have a decent power supply. It’s also next to the motorway so all in all, not a terrible location if it’s not a mistake. The location also had a pub, but last time I stopped it was closed down.

I’ve used the older Instavolts there when I’ve been travelling in a friend’s ID.4 which had terrible load sharing. They’ve now added some better chargers. I’ll be heading that way on Saturday, but was looking at stopping at Oxford Services.

The more locations the better as far as I’m concerned especially ones on main trunk routes, even if there are some relatively close.

I thought Aberdeenshire was in Scotland where they have many chargeplacec Scotland chargers some of them still free!
That’s not my point. I get slightly upset about people referring to NE when they mean NE ENGLAND. No way could the furthest north point of the A19 be called NE if you think of the British Isles as a whole. Rant over and I didn’t mean to upset you - I was trying (badly) to make a point. If you have ever lived in Scotland you may realise just how “England centric” the national media appear to be. But this is off topic for which I apologise.

It's ok I was being light hearted about it, or maybe facetious. Don't know what it will be called if you get independence Sturgeonshire maybe?

Newcastle

There is a “health and education hub” along with Starbucks Drive-thru under planning (and construction IIRC) right under the Tesla marker for this site - on the grounds of the existing Northumbria Specialist Care Hospital. Plans submitted October 2020.

Plans include 26 or so EV chargers so could well be this site where the new Tesla site will be. Only had a quick glance but looks promising.

Shame nothing added again for the North of England. Ideal spot on the A168 as more and more Tesla leaving the M! and travelling across to Teesside/Thirsk area using this road.
Tebay north is a useful addition in the north of England… though you can drive between north/south services the SC at Tebay south is definitely under pressure.

Below is a summary of the changes in Tesla's latest "coming soon" map markers (UK only).
There are 22 new markers plus 5 existing Superchargers re-labelled "coming soon" (presumably site expansions).
8 markers have been removed; of the remainder, 18 are later, 2 are more specific and 9 are unchanged.
A few of the markers have had name changes which are mostly minor tweaks (e.g. London - Wimbledon is now just Wimbledon) but note Bexleyheath has become London - Sidcup.
Q1 2023 looks unfeasibly busy whereas the indicative schedule for the rest of this year looks plausible plus there will, no doubt, be a number of site openings at locations not shown on Tesla's map.
