Yeah a 70 is fine; a 60 though, that's just that little bit less where one would want to pretty much be fully charged to make it between superchargers for the long trips. An S60 would realistically be getting about 310kms on a full charge, and 280km on 90%.
Realistic range tends to be about 80% of the claimed NEDC

@Tension - I get bang on....for example my 70 says 330km's at 90% and I indeed get this...but I do drive like a grandma on trips....however on the flip side I am on 21inch staggered wheels....

Yeah that's great, and the NEDC for your car is 420km. At 100% charge you should be getting about 367km, which is about 87% of NEDC.

I would hazzard a guess that on 19" wheels you'd be getting closer to 378km (90% NEDC)

Go for the S60 at Tesla inventory @Tension, it also has the general warranty extended for 4 years, as each month passes and more DC chargers are rolled out the need for a bigger battery is reduced.
We tested a couple of dual motor 85s over the same trip at the same time, correct tyre pressures, same aircon setting, the car with 19s had 10% better range than the car with 21s.

I just purchased a 2015 P85D for a tick over $98K with 40,000 on the clock and every option. The guy was an absolute gentleman to deal with. He just wanted the lease payout figure for a quick/no-nonsense sale. There are good deals out there, some are down to luck and timing so don't be too disheartened if nothing comes around straight away.

A 60 is just fine between superchargers at their normal spacing. You don't need to charge to anything like full charge, my average supercharger stops are between 20 and 40 minutes and I've done both Sydney and Adelaide return from Melbourne twice with no drama at all.

Depends on the year and build. On that particular one, it's only a 60kwh battery so it cannot be upgraded with software.

Food for thought there. Is it reasonable to assume any software limited 60 are unplugged and resold as 70 if they go back into used inventory?

The software limited 60/60D/70/70D all unlock to 75kWh (72.6kWh actual usable).

What’s the resale of model S like, comparing to other similarly priced non EV’s? Better, similar, or worse? I find it difficult to judge as options can impact significantly on the initial purchase price of a model S.
