I've had a call from Tesla today asking for a time stamp so it sounds like they're gathering data.

Just received the following reply from Tesla


Hi Paul, the issue you are experiencing is a server side issue that is currently under investigation. No repairs are required with the vehicle so we will cancel this job. There is currently no time frame for the fix, however this is been worked on presently.

Functionality will resume once the server is corrected.

Interesting, sounds like there's a server-side heartbeat keeping the car able to be woken.

I've wondered how much of the functionality of our cars would still work if the mothership stopped working

From what I've read the car is woken from it's sleep over LTE by an SMS message. Whilst WiFi is off during sleep LTE is not as it uses much less energy. My simple assumption was that either the servers are not issuing the SMSs or the SMS server is broken.

funny how it only affected some people. I have not had a single issue over this period ?

Exactly the same for me this morning. Car has been in sleep since Monday owing to lockdown and can’t wake it up on either my own, or my Partner’s phone today.

Same here 2020.8.1. hard reset car (buttons and brake) and app relogin does not fix it.

Strangely started working for me today. The only thing different about today is that I drove the car for the first time in a week. Didn't work before I left as I wanted to preheat the cabin. Worked every time since I got home.

Wasn't working first thing this morning but just went into the app and its worked. Car will no doubt goto sleep again soon and go offline then i suspect i will have issues in the app once again!
