Still no email or phonecall for me. Maybe it's because my reservation number is a perfect cube. Clutching at straws now - perhaps I should just email them.
Had a chat with Linda this morning to adjust my Tech package etc.
She said my car (Production #26) will go into production in "a week and a half".
Quote "we are targeting a pre-Xmas delivery"
I won't need anything else for Xmas if this happens.

Interesting, and i sincerely hope it happens. I know of a total of 3 sigs STILL "in production" including mine - going on now since 9th October apparently. Are they welding it up by hand?
I have had a phone call ( went to answer machine) and an email from Tim suggesting December delivery.

My wife asked what I wanted for Xmas this year. I said, "Just get me something for my Tesla", then I pointed her to Timpoo's website. I hope I'm not playing with an empty key fob cover on Xmas morning : )

TINGB (This is no Golf Buggy !), VIN 475XX, in transit 17 October. My prediction, of about 6 months ago, for a memorable Christmas present, is looking good !

Still in production. This is now officially longer than the first time they built my car. Did it fail QA and need rebuilding? As usual, radio silence on the issue.

Just thinking out loud here. Tesla are a sponsor of a geek conference that I'm the MC of next week, Web Directions. It's on at the Seymour Centre in Sydney. These "in transit" cars are more than a week away, right?
I figure our Tesla friends wouldn't do any kind of joint thing, no real need for them.

We wish! I wouldn't put it past them to have a test drive car there, but I think we are being overly hopeful for it to
become a launch event!

Since my car remains "in production" as of now, i wrote to Linda asking what gives.
In part, here is her reply : "You have nothing to worry about at this point; we are still very much on track for you to receive one of the earliest Signature Model S deliveries well before Christmas. "
Further, i went to the site today, Saturday - there was really a very large workforce on site. All were working in the front or what is probably the main showroom area. Not a soul in the other areas on the site. Looking at it, i would guess that area is no more than a week or two away from completion. Painters were at work on the front fence facing Herbert street, (Frederick street has a chain link fence).It is also NOT an area suitable for a service area. There are at least two other possible areas on the site for that as well as a delivery type showroom - much smaller.
My guess? they will be opening the showroom ASAP as a home for the current test drive vehicles and a sales type area, and will not continue with the test drives from the Casino site. I would expect a chassis and other bits and bobs, merchandise, colour charts, motor displays etc. etc. like in overseas galleries. Once this area is complete they will go on to prepare the service areas, and by that time the first cars will be here ready for a launch, which, i can see no reason why not, will be at the same venue, probably in December, week two would be my current guess.
Do note - test drives at the Sydney casino finish up on 29/10/14!!!! Is that a strong clue or what?!!

Having been told this week it'll be a December delivery for me too, Id *love* to drive my S85 from Melbourne to Sydney for our planned holidays. Danielp has me covered for charging whilst in Sydney but is there any chance whatsoever that I'd be able to do this trip? Even if it means staying over night in a few places along the way?

Novotel Canberra has 2 Better Place chargers on the wall of their underground car park. I have no idea if they are operational or not, or what connectors would be required. Or even what type of cable. You might like to enquire. If you get a response, would be great to hear about it here on TMC.

If my car is imminent by then I may have my charger installed in the Ovens Valley, it'll only be 40A though

I have a house in Bundanoon with 3 phase 32 amp power point in the garage. (Clipsal 56SO532)
If Tesla are willing to loan me something I would be happy to be a temporary charging point to help Melbourne owners get home.
I know the guys monitor this site so I'll let Mitchell contact me if he has a beta solution that he can loan me over the Xmas holidays to make this happen.
By my calculation that would put an 85 KWh Model S in striking distance of Albury if you were careful.
