Was assigned a Delivery Specialist today, Timothy Ellis. Amongst other things, his email said;

Estimated Delivery Timing
Currently, your Model S is estimated to be ready around December this year. Please note that it’s normal for delivery timing to shift as we update our production schedule and source parts to create your custom-designed Model S...

Anyone know whether 'ready' means pre or post shipping?

So they are delaying your build because of where you live? Looks like buyers in other states are getting their cars built though - see post above. I'm confused!

My understanding after talking with Tim a few days ago is that Sydney cars (at least signatures) will be built and shipped to Sydney, but won't be delivered to customers until the service centre is open (which we at least now have confirmation of where that is and there is movement on the ground).

For other states I believe people (maybe signatures only?) have been contacted and given the option of taking delivery, but not having a service centre available if anything goes wrong or waiting until service centre opens.

Either way I suspect the launch event will be in Sydney sometime in December to coincide with opening of the service centre and delivery of cars.

I just think it's a pity that Tesla will launch after BMW launch their i3 and i8 in Australia (scheduled late November). I like the BMW cars as well but was rooting for Tesla to get in there first!

I'm in WA and have been given the option of having my delivery via Sydney SC. I'm Production #66.

I emailed Linda Han about the Tech Package issue and got the following reply;

Your understanding is correct (you won’t be charged for the parking sensors, and the increase in tech package makes this a wash (+you get fog lamps so it’s a steal)! I’ve went ahead and upgraded you to the tech package with your confirmation.

Best,
Linda Han

So if you haven't upgraded do it now! (I had the parking sensors already and don't particularly care about the fog lamps, but if they're free...)

I had 2 i8s traveling fast in convoy and in full camouflage livery pass me on an Italian Autostrada last year near Milan. We were sitting on about 140km/hr, the i8s must have been doing close to 200 at the speed they went past.

Here's the two we saw...
