Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Got a text at 6:00a and nearly sprained an ankle darting to my phone. How do I disable texts from anyone but Tesla until I get a VIN?

But seriously good luck to my Arizona peeps picking up theirs today!
It was 10 hours after getting my VIN in the app that I received a text. Good luck not constantly refreshing the app after learning this :)

It has been said that Insane mode will get the battery to optimal temperature if you leave it in that mode long enough. However, navigating to a Supercharger for about 15 minutes is probably the most reliable way to get it to optimal temps.

I hope not... as I plan to leave mine in insane mode all the time and I'd hate for that to heat the battery all the time.

For a while, people online have called the badge on the back “Ludicrous Badged”. Guess we need to call that “Insane” instead? Sure feels to me that sub-3 second should qualify for Ludicrous naming!
If that’s my biggest complaint, I’m gonna be one happy camper.
The badge denotes ludicrous. Spaceballs reference. Unless Tesla decided to make their badge simply denote ‘performance’ instead of ‘plaid’. 🤷🏽‍♂️

My point is that if you put heat into that ~50% SOC battery it would perform like the ~90% SOC battery if that one is cold.

Here is an example. This is 55% SOC and 122 F vs. 89% SOC and almost freezing battery. The max discharge for the 55% is 570 HP. The max discharge for 89% is 365 KW(~490 HP).

In that scenario the one with the high SOC and cold battery will be incredibly slow after 40 mph compared to the one with a lower SOC.

Now that is an extreme scenario but the lower SOC would have 80 more HP potential. If you just wanted them to be even then you could let the ~90% SOC have a much warmer battery.

Makes sense. So then both batteries being heated, I’d assume the 95% battery will still achieve a higher max discharge? Or in both scenarios, the max is the max?

I always just assumed all other factors being equal other than SOC, the highest SoC would always prevail as the fastest scenario over a lower SoC.

Meaning…if you want to achieve the best outcome (didn’t say good for battery lol) charge to 100%, heat her up a bit and bam.

Not to jinx anything, but I just got a text from Tesla (6am AZ). Was scared as hell to open the message for fear of bad news.

“We will be ready for you today”

Let’s goooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so excited for you!! I was supposed to sleep in today but with my delivery at 12:30 my brain’s been zooming since 5 am

When the Model S went added the Ludicrous option the 0-60 mph dropped from 3.1 seconds to about 2.6 seconds I believe. Ludicrous has meant a half second 0-60 mph improvement in the past. Doesn’t look like we will see quite that this time around.

Battery temperature trumps battery SOC for 40+ mph acceleration. I typically don’t care what the SOC is. Just tell me the battery temp or the max discharge value.

Max discharge goes all the way to 462 KW(~609-629 HP). That happens at about 52.3 degrees C and 99%+ SOC. If you Supercharge to 100% it will be in this state almost every single time.

Here is a pretty good 87% SOC scenario. 615 HP max discharge is a good number to launch at. I typically liked to see 621 HP or greater but 615 HP would still yield good results.

So what are the must have accessories that I should pick up before I get my M3P? So far I have all weather mats ready. Are screen protectors a must? If so, which brand is best?

Also, when someone takes delivery and tints their windows, please let me know if it screws up your ambient lights like others with Sr/LR have been having so I know whether or not to do it :)
