Can confirm @elguapo works at tesla.

my only experience with Tesla other than this fiasco was renting a model S 4 years ago. It was clearly the best car I’ve ever been in, for my tastes (modern aesthetic, great technology, great to drive). I’ve been in Aston Martin, Porsche, Maserati, and high end Mercedes and bmw. So I really look forward to the refresh. but this experience — and reading the news reports regarding the solar roof buyers — has really soured me on Tesla the company. It does seem that Tesla the car is superior to Tesla the company.
Fair comments... it’s ashame because all they needed to do was be transparent and open their lips 2 months ago and many people wouldn’t have been sour. Especially since the issues causing the delays are understandable. It was the lack of communication, not the delay. Cheers to the refresh 🍻

But if you didn't know me and you saw me driving down the street in either a red or white model s...
FWIW - There’s a reason it’s called “Arrest Me! Red.” Our daughter drove an old 4-cylinder manual transmission SAAB 900. She reported that whenever she was in a pack of cars caught in a speed trap, the SAAB was ALWAYS waved to the side for ticketing.

The color isn’t available with Tesla, but I drove an insipid green Ford Taurus wagon for a few years. Bought it used, it was what we could afford. When my pack encountered a speed trap, the State Troopers couldn’t see the car. They waved over the lead BMW, the Mercedes behind me, some sports car in the other lane.

Still, red is a much more exciting color than white. White says, “I’ve made it in life. My car is excellent transportation, technology and design. I’m glad I can have it, I don’t need a costume to persuade you.”

i had a thought

back at the end of january, Tesla told me my car would come in March. Let’s assume for the moment that they truly believed that. in that case , it should take no more than two months from the start of production to deliver my car.

therefore, if production were to start today, I would expect to get my car in June.
Based on what I've seen others post though. January order at beginning of quarter would have been expected towards the end of quarter due to international builds happening beginning of quarter. Similar to what's happening now with estimates. Towards end of quarter US estimates get shorter. With them not knowing fully of the refresh plans they were just going off previous trends no?

Damn you. Literally I just reconvinced myself that white was the way to go. Man I wish I could get two.

Thanks …. But no. The post by @elguapo was the closest thing I have received to a communication from an SA.

Kind of sad. You spend all this money and get all excited for this car. Some people like the hands off - just order online and pick up later. Not me, I like having service. While my SA does not have all the answers, he has been clear about what he actually knows and is speculation. He has taken care of our accounts so I do not have to do it. He contacts me frequently and if I need something, I just text and he responds. I must be in the minority on this one.

Might be your location. People out in California buying a tesla are a dime a dozen. Someone in kansas City or indianapolis, maybe not so much. Idk.

TBH they should do better but I think we got the best update context we could've hoped for and they may not even be fully ready yet. I'm still just chilling expecting to get a VIN in two months personally. I'd rather they just get as many kinks out as possible.

Why would some SA's have anymore info then another. I don't buy it. Either they are getting info from HQ or they are just guessing like everyone else on this board. Nobody has real info. Again, until we see a parking lot full of customer cars ready to be delivered, it all *sugar*

Well, some SAs are really apathetic, to be completely honest.

If you order from a state where Tesla can sell and deliver cars then, even if you order 100% online, you will be assigned an SA from the region/location that will handle your delivery and you'll be matched with a car out of their allocation. You might not hear from them until your VIN is assign, because, really, they have nothing to tell you.

If you are in a state where Tesla cannot sell/deliver, then you get an SA from a central group in Fremont, IIRC, but same thing, they will probably not contact you until you get a VIN and are close to delivery.

There is a org hierarchy like any other business, SAs roll up to a store manager and the store managers roll up to a regional manager. I would guess different managers are sharing different levels of info with SAs. We don't know anything about the quality of info we are getting. For all we know, an SA is simply passing along their manager's baseless opining.

I will say I would have thought that. But the ISR I happened to talk to after my order that was going to do a test drive ended up with me.

I wouldn't have thought that was the case. But I called into Customer Service this afternoon and the case that was opened to get my trade resolved (which surprisingly went very quickly after I called) that sales person I asked and sent my RN to after I ordered and then after I requested a test drive. Note, if you're on the east coast and call after 6 you get a VM. Just use a CA zip code when asked haha.

I'm guessing if you never got assigned an SA at online order, maybe they don't assign an SA till the end.

I'm in GA and not like people are buying them a dime a dozen out here :)

I don’t believe this is true. SA = Sales Advisor. If you order strictly online, you are not assigned a SA. DS = Delivery Specialist. It is the DS that will contact you once you get closer to delivery. SA’s work in showrooms. DS’s work in delivery centers.

Who knows how full of *sugar* or not my SA is to me... He gave me info from his management based on reports. I am being cautiously optimistic that he is accurate but not betting the house on it. Patiently waiting for a bit more.
