Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I had a dream last night that the car was ready and I picked it up from the factory, then started the drive home. So I took that as a good omen and emailed the Product Specialist this morning asking if there was any new information. Within an hour or two he called. The car is ready. VIN is 3949. Paperwork is in process. We'll all head to Fremont in 2.5 weeks to pick it up, see some family and S.F., then drive it home with stops in lovely Gilroy, Harris Ranch, Tejon Ranch and Barstow. I love it when a plan comes together!

so, just to follow up - i gave in and called that UPS AutoLogistics number - and they said my car was currently in Chicago, and was slated to be delivered on friday. I'm cautiously delirious.

:)

Did you ask them where it was *going*? I couldn't stand it any longer so I called Rockville to ask them where my car was. Let me slow down and give you dates:
1/23: My PS Lauren in CA tells me that my car shipped today to Rockville Service Center where they will detail it and do final prep.
1/28: I call Rockville because I can't sleep at night anymore. Jamee (in charge of scheduling for my DS Ryan) tells me that my car is there and would I like to come to Rockville Wednesday 1/30 in the afternoon to get it, or have it home delivered on Thursday 1/31 at 10am. I elect Thursday.

She reiterates that I can hand a personal check to Ryan when he shows up on Thursday. He will come in an F250-sized pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer. (she asked if there were any safety concerns with that size vehicle on my road)

I have a Herndon zip code (20171), so I would imagine that your delivery logistics would be similar to mine (i.e. via Rockville Service Center, and 8 days from leaving California to being delivered to your house).

As a data point, I'm VIN 3751. If you see my blue 60 on a joyride Thursday afternoon, be sure to wave!!

VIN 3719. The eagle has landed.

Wow, what a fricken awesome car this is. Beauty and muscle and brains. Very well rounded indeed.

Got the jump seats installed. AWESOME!! My girls just love it. I'll post more about that in the jump seat thread.

For the other 60kWh folks out there waiting for delivery, fret not about the performance. Nope, stop fretting. You in the couch, you too, stop that fretting. . I've driven the 85, and the P85 most recently. Okay, so the 60 isn't WICKED fast like the P85, you got me there. But its still wicked fast.

Switched to the 21-inch wheels at the last minute, and man am I glad - they just rock!! Thanks Dadeleus, you convinced me. I owe you, or you owe me $3500 - let's say its a wash ;-)

Was loaded with 4.1, with 4.2 ready to go tonight at 2am. No problems with 4.1 at all, except one time the pano got stuck at "vent" when should have gone to 100% - same as reported by many already here on TMC.

Nitpicks?? Let's see, just a small vibrating sound when driving on the freeway at high speed. Can feel it through the steering wheel too. Is that normal? Or am I just hearing/feeling stuff I can't in an ICE due to the engine noise? I am thinking its a wheel alignment issue, so might check that out if after a few more spins it begins to bug. BUT, that ain't nothing compared to the life-changing, feel-good awesomeness of finally owning a Model S. Wowza, I need to catch my breadth.

Thanks Tesla, Elon, the delivery and ownership team - you guys exceeded my expectations in every way.

And thanks to TeslaMotorsClub and all the members in the community. What a great community - I've learned so much from all of you.

Happy Tesla driving y'all.

Congrats....I'm hoping to pick up mine around that time. my window is 2/2 - 2/16 and my PS tells me it'll likely be towards the end of the window

If you can feel vibration through the steering wheel it's probably a wheel balancing issue, not an alignment issue.

My car arrived at 5 am to Rockville service center 04007. My delivery window was 2/3-2/17. I can't wait to pick it up on Friday. Just got to hold on for 2 more days:crying:. I have a feeling that Dfibrl8r's car is here too so he may want to check today.

that's awesome. how did you get the car already delivered across country before your delivery window. some people didn't even get their VIN well into their delivery window. what's your res # if you don't mind asking?

I think part of it was a result of following the threads. I never waited for Tesla to call me, I called them. When I saw Vins approaching my number I started calling. With each call I would get new information. 1) Car is in production 2) Vin # next 3) waiting for transit and 4) your car has arrived. I suspect there was a cluster of 60 kwh cars headed to DC metro area and I likely benefited from that clustered shipment. I don't know this for sure but looking at the prior threads this makes the most sense with delivery scheduled for VA and MD to the Rockville center.

My guess is that Tempus and Dfibrl8r's cars are actually at the Rockville center as well having arrived this morning.

2/1 UPDATE: Scheduled for factory pickup on 2/7. 9 days ahead of delivery window.

-----------------------------------------------------------

1/31 UPDATE: MY CAR IS READY ahead of schedule!!!

An hour after I got the message that my car was in "early production", I get an email from my DS saying that my car is ready. would I please send them scans of my license and insurance etc!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------

I have a 60kWh model with delivery window 2/16-3/2. I Called today to ask how much it costs to add a HPWC or second mobile charging cable before/after delivery.

Found out that there is no difference in price.

Before hanging up I asked "by the way, how is my car doing? Do I have a VIN yet?"

The rep. told me that my car is in early production, has been assigned VIN 4768 and should be ready in 7-10 days!

I might actually get it before my window begins:
