Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Cleveland's DS is brand new. ... My guess is because of that, the Columbus store is still swamped - they haven't gotten the workload split up quite yet.

My assigned DES was from Columbus (as I eventually figured out) even though the delivery was always scheduled for Cleveland. Have the phone # but no email for the Cleveland DES, but it doesn' t matter any more.

I picked up my car in Cleveland today! WooHoo. Permanent grin, at least for now.

Delivery Delays

Did anyone experience any last minute delivery delays? I was supposed to pick up my P85D from the Fremont, CA factory and my delivery specialist calls me the day before the confirmed delivery date that the car hasn't been cleared for delivery.

Not something that I expected of Tesla.

Today my car is at "End of Line", meaning it has been built and they are inspecting it. Next it goes to "Burn In" where they will drive it and check its performance. This is according to my Tesla DES Whitney Smith in Houston. Awesome!!!

I wish I got that detail from my DS. Ours has been Production Complete in transit since last Friday. Whitney has been CCed on all our correspondence with our DS. I think our DS is being trained.

Cleveland Delivery Experience

Congratulations! How was the Cleveland delivery experience? I'm crossing my fingers that my car will be there by this time next week so I can pick it up next weekend.
My delivery experience was great. Car was flawless to my eye. DES did a great job of keeping the walk-through focused on what isn't covered in the online and glossed over in the manual, like some of the details of features added in recent releases. He patiently dealt with all my questions, including verifying that UMC was healthy. The SC looks busy - lots of new and used Tesla

The drive home to Pittsburgh was a delight. TACC is great. Blind spot detection needs work, as has already been discussed at length elsewhere. Although I still had plenty of range, stopped in Cranberry to try out supercharging, which worked like a charm (NAV directions are flawed - shows correct supercharger at correct location on map but spoken directions directed me to the wrong side of the street!). Driving normally, I managed 298 WH/mi on the drive from Cleveland to Pittsburgh. Didn't do quite that well with spirited driving around town today.

Today I gave my first ride to a business colleague. That was enough for him to talk about buying, but he will need help getting his spouse on board.

After living with the car for 24 hours, my only problem is the dreaded buffeting sound, probably from the lift gate. Thanks to the forums, I am making the recommended adjustment to the stops, which hopefully will cure the problem.

I wish they had "Tesla Production Line Cam" so you could watch your car being built. A buddy at work told me VW offers a package whereby you can go to the factory and actually visit the assembly line and watch your car being made.

Do you know if yours has actually left the factory?

Yes. My car was put on the train after about a week of sitting in transit, waiting for a train to fill up. It's been on the way for 4 days now. My build was completed on April 28th, and the DS told me that it was in California still, but heading my way, as of 5/5. He told me I was still on track for pickup on 5/16, one long, agonizing week from today. That same train probably has Srumpf's car on it too.

Was told Friday that my car is on a train which is currently near the New Mexico/Texas border. I would think yours is on that same train.

My DS is out of the office today so I can't ask him where my train is. I'm not sure they're the same train though. It doesn't make sense to go to Ohio through Texas. I'd think they'd be on the Union Pacific line through Nevada/Utah/Colorado and northeast towards Chicago. I'm sure more than one train leaves the factory each week.

The way it was explained to me is that they have a train that goes east and then splits the cars with one heading north and the other heading south. The southeast deliveries go to Birmingham and that's where the flatbeds grab the cars for a specific SC and head to them - not sure where the northern deliveries go.
