Curious: Do you know when your truck left Fremont, or where the truck was heading after you?

The transport truck left Fremont Sunday Dec. 16th with 4 MA deliveries. It arrived in Worcester MA this morning, then went to Norfolk, MA, then Watertown MA, and finally to me in North Andover MA at 2:30 PM. Then the driver was off to Maine to visit his parents over Christmas.

VIN #2589 delivered this morning from the San Diego service center at 9am.

P2747, VIN 2301 was picked up at the factory today. Things were a little crazy there, we were told there were about 50 cars being picked up today.

The tour wasn't as good as the October 2011 tour. Even though my DS had said that things should be humming, there wasn't much in terms of stamping going on, and plastics, painting and drive train is off limits. Also, we had a record # of people on the tour (40?) and it was hard to hear the guide.

Now, the car!

Due bill had the usual, spoiler and cargo shelf. Oh, and my car had piano black interior when it should have had carbon fiber. I didn't even notice until the specialist was almost done with the run through . They said this can be swapped at my local service center.

So we head out of Fremont in pouring rain, and head towards the Supercharger in Harris Ranch. I had a full range charge, and showing 269 miles of range. Perhaps it was the heat, and the wipers and the increased resistance of the rain, and but even though we were doing 55 to 65 for most of the trip, the car seemed to use more juice than I anticipated. We arrived at HR with about 50 miles of range, and averaging about 409 watts per mile. With about 50 miles of rated range left, we pulled up to the supercharger. Another Model S owner (white, 19"), also from San Diego, was just walking up to his car, a good thing since there is only one spot there. We chated for a sec, and then started the charge. After a big piece of prime rib, we came back to just about a full car, and it was up to 260 miles of range after about 65 minutes. Damn impressive! Back onto the rainy road, and heading to our stopping point for the night in San Luis Obisbo, where there are free Clipper Creek 30amp J1772s in a mall right next to an Embassy Suites. After about 260 miles of 100% rainy driving, happy to be resting.

We have a long it drive to the LA supercharger, over 190 miles, so even if it's dry, I won't be able to try out the performance, as I have range anxiety after today's 400 w/mile day. I'll have to keep it at 60 for a good portion of the trip, at least to start until I'm sure we'll have enough juice.

Oh yeah, our DS, at least his role for today, Ted was awesome. I know I've met him at one of the other events, and either in October or the LA drive event. He frequents this forum, and his knowledge on the car was 2nd to none.

More later!

So if you were going from Fremont to San Luis Obispo, you went to Harris Ranch just for the grins? More direct would be to use the SuperCharger in Gilroy and then on down 101 to San Luis.

My son in law brought my son's car down from the Bay Area down 101 to Santa Barbara last night. He charged in Gilroy-250 actual miles to SB and topped off in Atascadero. Coming through Goleta he had 9 road miles left to our house, and the range on the car said 18 miles. He chickened out (first time driving the car) and charged at the Rabobank in Goleta for 15 minutes -- and arrived at our place at 3:30 am this mornning with 12 miles left. Whew!

Like mcornwell, I took delivery at the factory today (3pm).

There were so many people picking up cars today that they split us into two groups. One group did the tour first followed by the walkthrough. The other did the walkthrough first. I was in the latter group. My DS, Tim, was busy with another customer at the time so my walkthrough was with Ted as well. He was fantastic.

I had a private tour of the factory because we ran over our walkthrough by about 15 minutes. We tried to catch up to the tour, but they were moving so fast as many (all?) of the stamping machines were shut down. We ended up just staying with our guide (Nick?) in a golf cart for the tour. My 4 year old daughter loved it.

I did have one minor scare on my trip home from the factory. It was pouring rain here today, and I hit some standing water on I-880 (at ~ 50 mph). The headlights glitched off and back on, alarm bells started ringing, a warning about 'Air Suspension' flashed up on the speedometer (which disappeared so fast I couldn't read it). My heart jumped into my throat since I had my 2 and 4 year old in the back of the car.

I noticed that when all this happened, the car shifted itself into neutral. Luckily, I only had to put it back into drive and we were underway again. I might report this to ownership, just so they have a record of it, but otherwise the car is completely perfect. Best birthday present I ever received.

Others have said it better than I can, but the car is 100% worth the wait.

Oh, the only car I recognized on the tour was Laurent's *beautiful* custom blue paint job. It was somewhere near the end of the line, nearing the station where headlights are connected.

It had at list 2 large notes on it that said "CUSTOM PAINT" in all huge letters.

Another proud Model S owner - ME!
Yesterday I took delivery at my home in Sarasota. Res# P2624, VIN 2291. Green, 85kWh, 19" wheels, non-perf, all options except the kiddie seats. The green looks even better than I remembered. 7 days transport from Fremont to the Tampa Service Center. One day prep, and one more day getting my house in order, and she's here. Due bill: parcel shelf and J1772 adapter. I will get a photo up here later on today. The car was delivered fully charged, showing a 255 mile range, and software version 4.0 installed. My orientation took about 2 hours. Some curious neighbors arrived to admire the car and ask a few questions just 10 minutes after the car was unloaded. Lots to learn. Initial drive was only 5 minutes.
Overall, another very satisfied Tesla customer. Thanks to Elon, George, my DS Whitney, and the thousands of Tesla employees who's hard work make the impossible seem really easy.

One of my first comments "It's like a really cool Sci-Fi movie, and I'm in it.

Please do report this, as this glitch is a major safety issue, which could easily cause an accident at highway speeds. Has none else experienced this, or anything like it?

Congrats Dave! Our next club get together is going to be quite a rally! Interesting you didn't get the J1772 adaptor. My car was prepped at the Tampa center as well and I did receive the adaptor. I'm thinking of getting the "old school" dryer plug type adaptor just to have and use at home temporarily. If I happened to be visiting a friend for example, I could tap off their dryer plug - most folks are unlikely to have the NEMA 15-40 in their garages. I won't have one installed for a few months. Unfortunately, I need to replace a lot more electrical equipment to get it done (I have a 1950s vintage fuse-box which needs to be upgraded at the same time - $$$). Enjoy your sci-fi experience

Model S VIN 1845, Sequence 1079, has landed safely and is accelerating through the greater Boston area daily. What else could keep me from posting for seven days?

Posted my thoughts and suggestions AND LOTS OF PICTURES OF METALLIC BLUE (named Elwood) here - ENJOY! Yahoo!
When are you taking Elwood to Chicago for some speeding down Lower Whacker Drive? Driving in Boston is always an experience, however you have God on your side
