Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Keep in mind that what options you order matters too. Some parts may be scarce at a particular time and may push back your production date.

They also might fill an order with a car already produced but the original delivery fell through due to various reasons. I wonder if this is the case on some of these really short production times.

It's definitely not a first in first out ordering pipeline.

I am pretty sure you are right. It used to be red was the kiss of death to prompt delivery. They seem to have worked that out. Also, they have been clear that Performance and Performance Plus cars get priority in the factory. Makes sense to me - build the highest margin cars first.

Also, I've seen reports of cars that have problems in production (fail QA tests or some such) with a subsequently delayed delivery date.

If some one wants fast delivery and they aren't picky about the options, they can get a car reasonably fast. Kind of like buying off the lot though the lot is in Fremont, CA.

There's always the option to buy an "inventory" vehicle from the test drive and service fleet, with a discount of $1/mile. There were about 30 on the list in SoCal last week. That would certainly be the fastest way.

Picked up my Model S yesterday as scheduled. 13 days from finalization to delivery. Everything great so far. Drove around a bit and then went straight over to the Supercharger station and topped off the car for free!! My kids were perplexed. They kept saying, "what do you mean it's free?" Gotta love that its free and fast. Car is a beauty. #14721 Black 85, leather, tech, sound, 19"

We have similar delivery here in AZ... basically you just sign for the car somewhat 'as is' unless you see some major damage which then is apparently handled by the third party shipper. You will then arrange for a walkthrough with your local DS (not sure if you have one in UT or if yours is based out of CO). They will then go over everything in detail and note any items needing to be corrected. Congrats and you will very happy tomorrow as it backs out of the trailer!

Finally got delivery scheduled for Thursday!

Since My car is being shipped to me by a third party, what do I do if I see any issues on the checklist?

Although I'm always happy for a new owner getting his/her new Model S, this is really disappointing for me to read.

I finalized on the 9th, and a not expecting delivery until the July 16th to 30th, when original expectation was set for 6/24 to 7/6. Also, had it been communicated by the sales associate that I could, I would have finalized my order on 5/27 when we put our deposit down instead of waiting two weeks for the "auto" confirmation 6/9.

Some line of communication seems to be broken between the sales/stores to the factory and even sometimes with the delivery center. As automated and 'online' as this whole process is, how does Tesla NOT have a 360 degree view of their customer and their order?
luder94- I am in the same boat as you, finalizing on 6/10 and getting a delivery email to expect the car in Massachusetts for first week of July. I phoned tesla in California and was told my car was on the line, and would reach "end of line" June 24. However, I then heard from my delivery specialist in Watertown that the information was an error, that the car would enter the line July 8 and be ready for delivery the end of July.

My theory is that our cars were close in the same batch for manufacturing, but Tesla decided to delay East coast and European destination cars, and prioritized West coast deliveries beginning the second week of June in order to maximize "delivered" cars for the second quarter ending June 30.

it is indeed a bummer, but do keep in mind that many have waited much longer. The extra several weeks is rough, but keeping in touch via this site helps!

Stay strong, Luder, and we will be driving in our Teslas in four weeks!

its possible but I wonder how many cars to a carrier. I think there are like 9 or 10 scheduled deliveries on Friday.

Edit: 168, when were you supposed to pick up your car? Let us know what date your delivery get's rescheduled to. I think there will be a major push to get the cars delivered by the end of the month. I'd be happy picking up on Saturday or Sunday.

Phil:

My delivery got reschedule for Friday. If I'm not mistaken, you're picking up on Fri too right? Maybe I'll see you there!

Just found out from my wife that the HPWC got delivered today. DS doesn't have a clue about it.

I'll try to get the HPWC mounted in the next week or so.....at least then I have something to look at everyday in my garage; and then look at the blank space for a car on the garage floor.

Purchased Inventory Car - ready in Fremont, told 2 weeks for delivery to NJ

Had a reservation since 2009. Bought the Fisker Karma in late 2011/ early 2012 since impatient. "Idea" was to get the Karma and then sell when Model S came out later in 2012. Love the Karma. Torn but cancelled Model S reservation when came time for finalizing order last summer since didn't want to have two $100K+ cars. Now Fisker essentially bankrupt, and all Karmas are beautiful orphans. Owners holding their breath that nothing goes wrong.

Couple weeks ago heard about the availability of some fully loaded P85s available for immediate /quick delivery. No will power, ordered last week. I am told car I picked is coming off Fremont assembly yesterday or today. Ship to NJ today or tomorrow.

Red P85 with tan and carbon fiber.
Pretty much got everything except Performance Plus (can't do 21s, I already have one car I can't take into NYC with 22s(Karma))

VIN given is 15454

I saw the inventory spreadsheet and there were 50+ pretty much fully loaded cars available for quick/immediate delivery. Some were demo cars with 500-2000 miles on them (with the $1 per mile cred offered), others were brand new - just off the line or shortly coming off.

PURCHASED PRECONFIGURED INVENTORY CAR: 6/20
PAID/MVPA: 6/25
TOLD COMING OFF FREMONT LINE: 6/27
DELIVERY TO NJ ETA FROM SALES: 7/8

I got my Delivery button! Woo hoo! Delivery window is 7/18 - 8/1, four to six weeks from finalization.

As chance would have it, I'll be out of town from 7/26 to 8/1, so either my baby's going to be lonely sitting at home by herself or she'll have to wait for me to get back.
