Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I’d try snd get closer to what you have into it and not eat the tax.

if I had to wager I think the LR will hold up considerably better on the secondary market. It’s nearly as fast as the outgoing performance model, better everywhere else (suspension, interior, etc)and the same price bracket. There’s just a lot of buyers in that range.

As much as I love the plaid, my biggest gripe is it just doesn’t feel “special “ to me. It’s undoubtedly amazing in a lot of ways, but personally wish for the price, it had more differentiating features.
It’s a coin toss IMO which car will hold up better in the secondary market. They’re both amazing cars at their price points. I can’t think of any other car (at any price) I’d rather have as my daily. My ice SUV will sit until I need to tow or it snows 👍

I think Tesla is trying to make things simple Tesla's way.
There are no options or discussions. You just go along with whatever they feel like doing that day. If they wake up and tell their more senior sales people to make sure there is demand for EoQ (when that is a month away) and tell them to promise delivery that month if you agree to take a different car (Plaid+ to Plaid switch), they will with no real ability to make good on that promise. This did happen as a good number of previous Plaid+ reservation holders can attest.

The question for me is how do you evaluate the performance of a customer facing (their term, not mine) Sales Representative? Did you do a good job if you kept the customer away from management without them going postal?
With all due respect, Tesla is the "anti-corporate" organization and while there may be some advantages for customers (and certainly for Tesla as a publicly-traded corporate entity), their corporate structure, policies, & procedures tend to produce results that are the opposite for good customer service. Anybody in business, whether in their own small company or in big corporate, understands why good customer service and communication (inter-company across company departments and personnel AND to its customers directly) are KEYS for true, long-term success. In additon, quality control is another key to success, especially within the auto manufacturing market; while Tesla is more of a "technology" company, it does in deed manufacture EVs. Simply put, quality control is also key for long-term success.

Tesla is NOT structured this way, nor do they understand the value of good customer service and communication in addition to the typical mission of trying hard to always "under-promise while over-delivering." These core values are NOT part of Tesla as a corporate organization and thus, FAILURE could and may very well catch up to Tesla's initial success and "cult" following after the first decade in business, especially as the other, much larger, more more experienced auto manufacturers catch up to Tesla in terms of technology, design, and performance with their own EV products.

There is a flip side to that coin. A lot of us who can't afford the Plaid bought the LR SPECIFICALLY because we get all the same experiences, minus some acceleration a spoiler, and some seat trim. I wonder if they sold more LR's this way, vs. alienating more people who would want uniqueness on their Plaid.

Yes, they do a great job at redirecting the air.
Agree--I was skeptical about how well this would work and have been pleasantly surprised. It takes a bit of practice to learn how to dial in the direction of airflow, but overall, the vents do a good job of rapidly cooling without feeling like you are sitting in front of a leaf blower.

So simple! I didn't think of doing that but having the same annoying problem. Also seems to come and go as the temperature in the cabin varies - the hotter it is the louder the rattle.

Dumb question - I really want 2021.32.5. My software update preferenced is on "Advanced". Do I just sit and be patient until my VIN gets put in rotation? Is there any way to request it? I can't seem to even find any reference to the OTA update process in the new version of the iOS app.
I read on a forum post here, from 2020, that you need a WIFI connection to get the software update. Have you added your Tesla to your home WIFI? That might be the solution.

Those wheels look great !!

Do you recommend the Uniden R7 ? Or the Escort Max ? I definitely need one of those in this car 🌝
Thank you for the compliments on my new Signature forged wheels; can't wait until I have them AND my actual Tesla MS Plaid to put them on, lol...I should be receiving my wheels next week while I still don't have a VIN for my MS Plaid although my account still says 9/20-9/30 est delivery. We'll see.

Regarding the radar/laser detectors...my Escort Max 360 is actually from 2016 and while it works very well, it seems antiquated (and it's quite large & heavy although it usually stays put on the windshield with the strong suction cup bracket even in the hot Florida sun) in just 5 years. I used to have a Valentine V1 many years ago and after doing the research, it seems all the latest tests and reviews point to the new Uniden R7 as just barely edging out the new redesigned V1 Gen 2 radar/laser detector. So, I purchased a new Uniden R7 and haven't even tested it out yet, so we'll see which one I go with, but likely the new Uniden R7 over the older Escort Max 360. I have the Escort in another vehicle we own and will likely leave it there.

stopped by the Richmond, VA SC. Lot is pretty full (they also have started using a nearby closed gas station as an overflow lot) mainly new Y's, but at least 3-4 S's, all with 19's, 2 of them Plaids, none with white interiors. Build quality looked good on the outside, save for one that had a badly misaligned drivers door window trim, and scratches on the drivers side rear door window trim. And like most have reported, no rear package shelf cover and no cover for the floor trunk area

Open up controls, tap on software, press and hold on "Model S" for about 10 sec then release. Type "dynotest" into the subsequent dialog box and it unlocks a bunch of diagnostic screens. I am pretty sure this was left open by accident, so expect it to go away soon. Usual disclaimer: don't do this, you can screw up your car, look, but don't touch, etc.
Thanks for this! I can see that my HV Pack only shows that it is 81.4KWh, which corresponds with my horrible range!
What are others seeing in the Full Pack Energy Field?

Also, @omarsultan how go I exit dyno mode? Clicking the obvious button that says exit does nothing. I tried "power off" as well as a reboot.

Edit, i was able to exit by typing dynotest again and hitting the exit button

Edit 2: I went to go back into the dynotest menu with no success. It might be a 1 time only. So take photos. (I did)

There is also a button at the top of the screen--tap that to exit and then do a reboot--that has worked for me.

Just tested this myself. Reporting 90.3kWh. I’ve no idea…

What is the ideal kWh to see here?

This one is for you @2021plaid. A rocket car that did the 1/4 mile in 3.22 seconds.

Yup. Did one run. Also looked quite street legal, with its pedestrian-friendly rocket thruster blast lol.🙂
Additionally, funny cars with no rockets and just power do almost the same without cheating: fastest funny car quarter mile - Google Search
Rocket cars have also been almost fully banned from racing, as it was too dangerous.

You serious rn? If so man, that's kinda mean. For the record, I DO NOT pass out endorsements freely. He is legitimately good. As people here may be able to tell, I cannot stand people who don't know their stuff, or who are repeatedly wrong.
I don’t know my stuff but you like my posts 😀

I see what you’re saying but I think if the plaid had more custom touches, and the lr was as it is now, the LR is still an amazing car and value and would sell well. There’s a huge demographic that wants the tech, and overall nice package , with respectable performance.

I guess, coming from owning a long list of other cars , I think it’d be cool if eventually Tesla has a more bespoke performance line up more the equivalent of bmw, Lexus, Audi etc.

I don’t really feel alienated. But when I sit in it I don’t get the same feel of being in a $140k car like I do if I sat in an rs7 for example.

I would take some of the data on these screens with a grain of salt. The SW for the rest of the car is a work-in-progess so there is no reason to believe the same is not true for the diag tools a well.

In the Plaid I sat in, as well as the M3, the vents direct airflow by just blowing harder in some areas. For example: if you want the airflow going up, the bottom flow of air blows harder. This pretty awesome piece of engineering actually works quite well.
You are so knowledgable about all this! Is almost, shall I say computer like knowledge.....hmmmm

A 2 second 0-60 in under 150' is not pedestrian friendly either. Just sayin.

Look left? Stationary Tesla. Look right? Clear, Step off curb, get hit with highway speeds by a 5000 Lb car. 🤣
