So are we saying this is the light?

If I recall @Mandarin hooked up his trim to light it up which was successful. No clue where the posts are.

Model X EPC shows all trim having light and version 1 of the complete tilt motor mechanism. Model S EPC shows the IP trim having light but none in the door trims. It originally showed the version 1 tilt mechanism with no motors, and now shows a version 2 mechanism with new kinds of motors. Despite differences in the catalog drawings, the mechanism assembly has always had the same part number between both the S and X (1607360-00-E). In reality, only one Plaid I've seen out of five has had lights in the IP trim. It also had lights in the door trims. The other four had no trim lights at all. I have yet to inspect a Palladium X.
Confused? So am I. Palladium production has clearly been a complete mess. Yesterday I went to a service center and attempted to order one of the new mechanisms. I say attempted because as I previously noted, they've all had the same part number, and the part example pictures the technician brought up were pictures of the v1 bracket with and without motors. I explained the situation to him and showed him the drawing differences which confused him as well. So the order has been made, and if the part does not match the latest drawing in the S catalog, he'll run it up the chain and inquire as to what's going on with the version control.
As far as retrofits, I have virtually no clue. So far I have yet to actually see a motorized mechanism in person - just drawings and pictures from old service manuals. Once it's confirmed motorized mechanisms are in delivered cars, we can assume Tesla will be adding first party function support, and retrofits - official or unofficial - would be practicality guaranteed.
And for anyone curious as to what the trim lighting is supposed to look like:

Acrylic light bars with light engines affixed at the ends. The light engines contain a LIN driven RGB LED. I see nothing wrong with the design so my complete guess is these were a victim of the chip shortage, but again they're present in the Palladium X catalog so they may be coming back. The corresponding connectors have been present in every S I've inspected and the connectors are powered. In this particular Plaid, the light engines are likely just not receiving any commands.
Ordered! Thanks for your help! You need to order the 14-50 adapter from Tesla.
Given it is a 3-pin connector, probably more complicated than just applying 12V--likely using something like LIN to tell the light engine to turn on, what color to display, etc.Correct. That is the light tube. It does not illuminate on mine.
Yes. Connected but not illuminated when normal ambient light is on.@Bull Was the connector hooked up as well?
Just checked this morning--I see two days after you got your VIN, I've gotten mine. Same situation, MF454, which isn't a 22 but I'm getting my car finally! Woo! EDD is now 11/21 - 11/27 and I'm eagerly awaiting a text to schedule my delivery appointment.Same config. Same state. Monday my EDD spread closed from 11/1-11/28 to 11/08-11/20. Mostly in line with your dates although yours extends 2+ weeks further. Would assume we would be in the same production run and train east. Although I see you ordered two months prior.
Correct. It looks like it is the metal trim piece blocks it from showing though. I don't see how it would be visible from the outside of the door panel.
@omarsultan's pic shows the connector that my trim piece is connected to.
This shows it a little better. I think I'll pull it again and see if it is indeed illuminated when the ambient light is is on.
Update: Even though it is connected, it is not lit when the ambient light is on.

That would be impressive. I don't have high hopes for it though. If there is a light there, and no electronics, there should be a way to light this up using a 12V source. It makes me wonder if the metal trim piece is not quite as it appears. Perhaps it is translucent.
I went to re-engage autopilot and my car informed me "Autopilot has been disabled for the remainder of the drive, you exceeded the maximum speed limit. OMG...my car is disciplining me. My niece laughed at me. Not one to be outsmarted by a software engineer, I pulled to the shoulder, placed the vehicle in park, put it back into drive, and then re-engaged autopilot when I got back to highway speeds.
This is pretty exciting, as even if Tesla never enables it, it's not that big of a deal to do it aftermarket and retain the original look!If there is a light there, and no electronics, there should be a way to light this up using a 12V source. I too ran out of room for date changes near the end. Hang in there. With the most recent update to my estimated delivery date and my VIN assignment, my signature has become too long to maintain all of the EDD changes over the past five months, which may or may not provide valuable information to someone, so I'm copying them here.

It was not me ) I told this to SC's adviser and was told my car has a "base light package" and this is why ambient light on door panels and center armrest are off. I think this option simply got cut. Probably if we will install a light engine then it will work. I don't know )So are we saying this is the light?

I found the post with someone showing it lighting up. Although some of your early posts showing similar trim to that of @Bull did help. It won't light up. There is no light engine for those light tubes.
I'm curious to see it! Let me know if you will be able to find it!I found the post with someone showing it lighting up. Although some of your early posts showing similar trim to that of @Bull did help. Appreciate it!
I read somewhere that 455 built on November 2 and 454 is last week of October.Yes. New build, likely late Oct. I have seen one 455, but yet to have a confirmed build date for that one. I don't think anyone has seen a Nov build as of yet
My wife just told me another one that applies here:
My father-in-law has a 2015 BMW 640i. Recently, his cell phone stopped connecting to the cars Bluetooth. BMW told him they have to do a software upgrade, to allow the cars Bluetooth to talk to his newer cell phone. They want $1000 to make his car capable of connecting to a cell phone. A feature he had when he bought the car.
Imagine if Tesla tried to pull that with their customers.
It is using a flashlight, but here is the post. Includes a write up of their conclusion. As of today, I asked for a follow up.I'm curious to see it! Let me know if you will be able to find it!
