Solved: wind noise

I have wind noise at 135mph. It’s annoying as I struggle to hear the blues and twos.

Now that’s a real problem

I remember the time when Lexus was trying hard to understand how come a Lexus starts becoming uncomfortable at 90+ mph when a BMW on the other hand becomes more comfortable over 90+

I’ve been shoving foam into crevices of every new car I’ve owned. Only thing that changes is the location.

I've been in a 2022 and it is significantly quieter.

The new models have those added parts under the frunk, attached close to the wipers.
Anyone tried adding those to an older model, to see if it improved the wind noise ?

Yes, many have added them (2-3 designs out now) since first seen on MiC Model 3s/Ys.

Wind noise with these cars remains a. hit/miss b. relative (individual perception, tolerance) regardless of installed/fixed parts c. and a function of car age (thanks frameless side windows).

Good to know.
I was thinking of adding them, but if it’s hit and miss, I may not bother. The wind noise in my 2018 is fine. We have a 2022 as well, (both model 3’s), and the wind noise difference is negligible.
Thought if it made a difference I may give it a go.

Could someone please post a link to OEM or decent aftermarket parts to reduce noise? I'm all for trying something nicer than a hacked up kitchen sponge.

i have like 4 or 5 of them in the rear subwoofer space to reduce rattle.

I don’t have a picture, but I can get one on the weekend if no one posts by then.
I may even be able to try these on my 2018 model if they are detachable easy enough.
I’ll let you know.

Yes, installing this design last year had more of an impact on wind noise than water ingress into the frunk/over the FUCAs.

You can find these and the other designs all over the internet now. From local Tesla aftermarket part resellers to Amazon, eBay motors, Alibaba, Aliexpress, etc.

little bit of an update - on aliexpress chinese sellers now sell a plastic rubber kit which inserts next to the wipers below the bonnet which is REALLY good at keeping water out,
