Hi cbrsr+, yes looks like our cars are coming on the same transporter as our delivery specialist said to expect our delivery in the week beginning 23 September. We’re thinking of going into Access Canberra soon to make some Enquiries so I’ll try to personal message you (never done that before, this is all new to me!) if/when I find out what the process is and which form to use. We don’t have our invoice yet, it was supposed to arrive today but hasn’t as yet, they must be flat out in Sydney. I think Access Canberra issue the plates on the spot and I don’t think we have to have the car inspected, but will let you know. What are the CPA and TAN numbers and where do we get those?

Hi TaylorP, that would be super helpful, thank you! And don’t worry, I’m clearly new to all this too haha.

It looks like you need both a ‘Type Approval Number’ (TAN) and a ‘Compliance Approval Number’ (CPA) to register a new vehicle yourself. Not sure what the TAN is though unfortunately. That form I linked says you need to call up and quote the CPA no. to get the TAN. That said, there seem to be a few different CPAs for Model 3 - all starting with 50079 followed by another 7 digits.

You can search for the regulatory docs at the (ancient) NSW RTA site here: https://myrta[dot]com/rvd/searchRVD.do?submitValue=start (sorry for the weird URL!). Just go to the ‘post-1999’ section on the left, select ‘Car’ in the type field and search ‘50079’ for the CPA no. then it shows all the Model 3 CPA documents. I’m kind of assuming it’s the latest one (50079-1316046). The docs also have other details that the Access Canberra form asks for like tare weight for each variant etc.

It’s all a bit confusing though, so definitely hoping Tesla give us some guidance. I emailed late last week but haven’t heard back just yet - I’ll let you know if I get any advice!

I’ve been waiting for 1.5 weeks now. Got the call on Thursday (29th of Aug) and still haven’t gotten an invoice. Every email and phone call just gets ignored.

I have a delivery booked on the 20th. I doubt I will be picking up the car.

This is so frustrating. Have half a mind to cancel my order and just order in 6 months time.

Same here. Got the call on Friday 30th, for delivery on the 23rd, no invoice yet. My wife got a call last Friday for delivery on Oct 1st and got her invoice today.

I am in "the same boat" as both of you, received an invoice last week, the delivery specialist advised will deliver around the 23th, and I have to register the car myself, I also confirmed there will be no one from Tesla to actually explain how things work, they can assist on a phone if needed, and if any issues they will sort them out after delivery. We almost need our own "Canberra Club" thread :)

A little surprising tbh but I’m sure we’ll get each other through! Did they mean no one to explain how the car works or how the registration process works? I think there was an official Tesla Australia video floating around a few pages back with a mock delivery for the benefit of those like us that will miss out on the car run-through.

A ‘Canberra Club’ thread’s not a bad idea at all! It looks like we’ll be having some pretty Canberra-specific issues so we might end up cluttering this thread otherwise.

May I join the Canberra Club, my car delivery is on 23/9 too. There are 5 cars on that day as far as I know.
CPA and TAN, I hope they come with Tesla paper work otherwise there is a number we have to call from this link

Just to pile on: I also got a call from Tesla a few days ago, advising me that delivery will be September 23-25 and that I’ll have to get my own plates.

Tesla just emailed me, and Pepper Money, with an invoice. It’s not visible online yet though.

Edit: sr+, vin 4430xx, build date July 11.

Welcome to the club mate. From what I can see Canberra is about 5-6 cars strong, a truckload so far. :)

On the CBA website when getting a quote for an M3 there's a question asking if you have non-standard additions. There's a box with what the standard inclusions are which seems to have more details on the M3 P+ than I've seen anywhere else. This is what CBA think is included anyway. I thought it was interesting so will share here. The box is tiny and hard to scroll through slowly, but for the sake of this post I've stitched the image into one big box... you're welcome ;-)

At least you have an invoice. I'm still waiting for an invoice for my P3D- PearlWhite reserved on day 1 and ordered on day 1 for Perth. I foolishly told them I would be abroad until 10th September when Tesla originally rang me ( when we were in Reno at the Gigafactory)
Ok Techno-phile, I'll quit fretting..seems like you should be at the front of the queue (for Perth) of all people being a existing owner etc.....wishing there was some online indication of progress for all of us though.

I’ll narrow this down for you since I’ve already done the research. There is one compliance plate number for all variants which is the 50079 number. The TAN can be obtained by calling the vehicle standards department and telling them which variant you have. All you need then is to fill out the application to register vehicle form which I’ve linked to below. Bring that with the invoice, your proof of ID, and you will get plates issued immediately no inspection. You can do it as soon as you pay the invoice and the vehicle is in NEVDIS which is the system used to verify import details.

It’s actually a very easy process.

Thanks Meowsers, that’s worthwhile info, saved us lots of time, really appreciate it.

The TESLA rep at Melbourne delivery that replied to my email regarding licensing advised that they only license the vehicles a day or so before delivery. I have not heard of any deliveries in WA before September 16 so its likely that cars being delivered on that date may not be licensed until Friday September 13 (lucky day?). I am keeping any eye on my DOTWA account to see when mine is registered.
Good to know, have you received the rego papers or are you just checking DOTWA for something to do? Surely you gotta get the papers before it shows up on the website?? You made me check though ......nothing.

Awesome m4rtin. Looks like CBA just piled everything in there as some of those are not actually standard like homelike and others are not even provided by Tesla like power tailgate and solar control glass roof. Even so the list is impressive :)

Not sure if the baby will actually fit into the Tesla-Mahal, but that is a story for another time...

Tesla customer service? Not a problem! However appalling you think the service is right now, I am almost certain, that as each week passes, it is going to improve! Hold on... the only way is UP from here!

I will envy you for your white interior, which I think looks stunning and which was my first choice, but got vetoed by the boss...

Don't worry, I will let my Tesla freak flag fly high and proud and there will be a deluge of pics posted here when my Model 3 finally arrives.
I am sure the service will get better but I am happy to wait as for me it’s a big deal. Having worked in a customer service focused industry for 30 years I am aware how much it counts.
As for the white interior again will have to wait to see if it becomes an option in LRD as that is the model I would like.
And I am sure you will make it fit somehow!! Looking forward to the pictures.
