Do you have a delivery appointment yet?

I take great pride in the fact that I have neither called or e-mailed Tesla to enquire about the delivery...

.... on the flip side, I have not heard anything.

Despite our best efforts, we did miss one phone call yesterday on our home line, so we are currently experiencing all the mental trauma that comes with that...

Saw a few people with 4491XX hidden vins (like me) mentioning delivery calls in the last few pages, and lo and behold, I just got a call too. Question though: I couldn't agree to a time because I had to check availability (we're out of state for first week of Vic' school holidays which is the last week of Sep'). She said to email back at ... deliveries_melbourne, or melbourne_deliveries, @tesla.com? I expect that someone here knows the email address - please help! I did have a look online and tried calling and of course got nowhere.
Thanks!

You didn't have your availability for the next 6 weeks tattooed to your arm!? Where's the commitment?

Having said this, I have your exact config. P3D+ white \ white. I am a 2018 reservation holder, first day order, first day change to white and yet I have no VIN. If there is an algorithm like we think, they pretty binary! Clearly either there is no algorithm, or more likely there is one that is quickly overridden by delivery specialists for some, and people unlike algos are random!
Don't know if this is going to make you feel any better, I am jealous at these peeps too. I am in similar boat P3D+ red ext/black int, April 3rd 2016 reservation/June 1st order. Still no VIN, no invoice.

See you’ve fallen for Elon’s marketing around ‘FSD’.....formerly known as ‘autopilot’. No current tesla will ever achieve full level 5 autonomy, although tesla havnt promised that they will. Full Self Driving is a marketing term. Many have made an assumption themself on what it means.
He has answered specifically about when he estimates one will be able to ‘sleep while driving’
Can’t get much more explicit than that
I expect Level 4 on the road by 2022 in the USA.
Level 5 (can do whatever a human can) is a mile away - fallen tree across a remote unsealed single lane road, freeway accident requiring thousands of drivers to coordinate & reverse to the previous exit by police hand signals, etc

Elon has talked quite a bit about FSD and full autonomy, including a statement about removing the steering wheel and patching the whole in the dash. maybe just leave the steering wheels so we can just play games. Lol

It's [email protected]. Usually takes them 3 days to reply to me.

So I reached out to Tesla again today since it has been nearly 2 weeks since I last hassled them and was told that they are
At this stage we are still in the process of finalizing delivery dates for your order but are working towards the vehicle being ready for delivery late September. As soon as we have more information we will contact you asap to schedule delivery and generate a final invoice.
They did not specify a year of course, so we can only hope that they mean late September 2019.

Vehicle: P3D with Performance Pack
Reservation: 8/4/2019
Order: 31/5/2019
Delivery: Melbourne, Richmond

I would not be surprised if they slip further. So frustrating when I see others who's orders were later and have later (or even no) reservation getting VINs and order dates.

Elon talks big and makes bold statements all the time. Wouldn't put much actual stock in it, especially where timeframes are concerned.

Not really an issue, because who would buy a fun car like a P-/P+ with the intent of not driving it? And wasn't there supposed to be a fully-autonomous robotaxi fleet by now?

Also forgot to add, and waaaay more importantly, Tesla would have a multi-billion dollar lawsuit on their hands if they failed to deliver in a ‘reasonable time’ (Musk’s public statements & tweets would guide what is ‘reasonable’)

I largely agree. It's a fun car to drive. If it could magically FSD tomorrow, I wouldn't be that excited, really. Autopilot already does most of the boring bits that I would happily give up (motorway in traffic).

Well we all know it will happen. However as it is with machine learning, the exact time when the data-set reaches critical mass and the system becomes ready for this is a big unknown. From what Tesla tells us the hardware should be capable of it, so once the software is ready, they can say they have done it, however that does not mean our cars will be just driving around, it will still be up to each country to change the local legislation to allow this and considering how good our government has been in keeping legislation up to date with the technology, I don't see this happening for us in the very near term, eventually they will get there.
