Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Wait what? Got a source on this? I everything under the impression everything was 3 now. Pissed if i get 2.5, especially considering i paid for FSD

There is a thread elsewhere detailing that HW3.0 can sometimes show up as 2.5. I'll see if I can find it...

Not sure what this means for Model 3 owners in Australia, but at least check before becoming despondent

You either take delivery then or in 7 days+ after they fix the faults

Not odd. There was never any indication from Tesla that Australia would get DB Radio other than a few over zealous sales staff back in 2015 saying that the S was likely to get it at some stage, but never committing when.
In fact if you look at the Tesla website it says what the media is and it does not specify DB Radio.


If you get 2.5 it will be updated to 3.0

I'm aware they've promised that and that it will happen eventually. However tesla service is crap and i have no faith that will happen any time soon, especially with the additional logistics challenges in perth.

Refusing to take delivery in 15 vs 30 minutes is totally different than refusing to take delivery at all. My point being if you take longer than 15 minutes but aren't refusing to take the car what are they going to do?

Yes and no. Tesla officially states that all cars coming off the production line since April 1 have Hardware 3.0. The reality is there has been lots of people in the forums with build dates long after that (even into late June that I had read) that only had 2.5. I suspect there was quite a few 2.5 computers left over which just get added on there or the staff on the line aren't realising it (as they externally look identical).

If you ordered FSD and you happen to accidentally get a 2.5 computer Tesla will upgrade it for free just like they will for all those with 2.5 or 2.0 computers that purchased it.

So how will I be able to tell if I have 2.5 or 3.0?

Picked mine up this morning in Sydney, amazing, well happy. MSM P+

Luckily only a couple of minor nits (minor scuff, tiny raised dot, slightly loose rubber thing near the wipers) and the Tesla staff logged them already. The black polo shirt staff seem to be "delivery helpers" and refer to the grey polo shirt staff as delivery specialists. Anyway, very helpful and friendly.

Can confirm Homelink will be retro-fitted (as others noted).

Well I’m guessing that since they were specific about being allocated 15 minutes for delivery, they start to ‘hurry you up’ - the guy at Tesla was more than a little agitated at me suggesting I wouldn’t take delivery if it had faults or paint blemishes & was quite blunt about the 15 minutes. Just the messenger

Hang on whaaaat?????? European model 3’s have DAB radio.... how did we miss out??? This is really odd!!! I was totally expecting it to have DAB so much so I didn’t even verify that on specs when I ordered.

July 24th Tesla confirmed would have DAB. Disappointing that such an expensive car doesn't

A friend just picked up a LR AWD in Melbourne (ordered after the P- was removed) but there is no “Dual Motor” badge on the back, not missing the underline but instead nothing at all.


Can anyone with a P- confirm theirs had the full Dual Motor with red underline badging? I’m starting to think the P+ may be the only one that has the badging at the back.

Yeah he's been really lucky. He ordered in mid/late July and initially got a call for September 27th delivery then subsequently received 2 more phone calls each time bringing the delivery earlier and earlier to today. He ordered LR AWD with FSD in MSM.

Is anyone able to help me out with USB media? I've formatted and installed a 64Gb drive (fat32 formatted). The dashcam and sentry modes seem to be enables and actively recording but I can't seem to get my music to appear in the media player. The usb on screen button that i can see in tutorial videos is just not there?

I've also tried rebooting

I was too allow one hour by the staff. Went early cause you know, keen as. Everything was s smooth. No rushing.
