I would think it would be the same as the cpos which is 500-1500. I was showed a demo/loaner list the other week and told no shipping costs for these. I asked for a broader list if I paid shipping because these were different from the inventory models online, but I was told these were region specific.

Yes, I specifically meant for inventory/demo cars. If there is a fee, then there is absolutely no point not getting a new one with everything of your choice.
I suppose the inventory models will lose value over time if not sold, so I'll hope for just that as I need to get a car in the next two months.

Just remember that the new one will also have a delivery/doc fee. So the inventory model is still going to be $2k cheaper. But if they aren't exactly to your specs (or what you consider a worthwhile discount), then yes, you should order exactly what you want.

+ 1. Be careful with inventory cars that have options you have no value for as you'd need a discount equaling the options you don't have any value for just to "break even" with the cost of a new car with just options you actually care for.

Right now I see very little in terms of decent deals for inventory cars.

The best deals are for the 2013 and 2014 P85 cars that are priced in the $50Ks and the $60Ks.

At the current Inventory pricing, I feel it is better to just buy a brand new car optioned exactly how you'd like it.

I just took a delivery of the CPO Model S 60 at Austin, TX Service Center and the delivery experience was superb.
The car, which has ~60K miles on it already looks and feels like brand new from inside and outside.
Driving experience is out of this world compared to my Prius.
They gave me two new key fobs, little thank you gifts, and all previous service records.
By the way no drive unit swaps for this car in the past and no unusual noises from DU while driving.

My delivery specialist Magz did outstanding job communicating with me all the way and making super easy, fun and effortless experience in purchasing the car.

Maybe I need to call Magz at Austin and see if they would be kind enough to get my my service records. I still haven't been able to get them yet.

How long do you think it will be before we start seeing 70ds in the 50k range? Another year?

Just realize the price drop will not be linear and it will be based on something better that comes along with a larger battery capacity or redesign. For most people who owns Ds that are barely a year old, they really have little reason to sell. What would they buy instead after driving a Model S? :) For the most part, only a better Model S or Model X production ramp up with compel current owners to sell their Tesla D.

As what happened with the P85s when the D came out, it will take several months and then values will drop as people trade in to acquire the newest and the greatest.

In response to your question, let's assume we are considering a 70D with $10K worth of options. That car after tax rebates will be about $75K brand new or about $70K as an inventory car. If you want that car in the $50K-something range I think you are about 12-18 months away as we are talking about $20K worth of depreciation.

So I came across a CPO listing (don't remember the VIN off-hand) that showed and listed the wall connector option. I assume this meant the original owner ordered the HPWC. What does that mean for someone who buys that CPO? I can't believe the original owner uninstalled their HPWC when they traded in their car. Is Tesla obligated to give the CPO buyer a HPWC since its listed?

edit: VINs are P18059 and P24870
