    All Season Tire Recommendations

I've owned a Model S since 2013 and tried lots of different tires. The Continentals and Michelins all sucked. Horrible. They were loud and wore out fast. The best all season tires I've ever had were Vredestein Quatrac Pro XLs. I tried them on the recommendation of others here and it has been the...

    Gen1 HPWC stopped working - NEED ADVICE/HELP!

My Gen1 80A HPWC started acting up a few weeks ago and I cannot figure out what is going on. A few weeks ago I started getting a "Charging Stopped" message and the car would not start charging. I can hear the switch click in the HPWC like it wants to connect. Sometimes I could pull the charger...

A CD player that works via USB - finally!!!

How did I know there would be some asshats here that would comment about "taking the technology back 10 years" or some other dickhead response about "8 track tapes". I hope you got your rocks off with your response...

A CD player that works via USB - finally!!!

After many years of searching with no luck I happened upon a CD player that actually works in my Model S via USB! It's Automotive Integrated Electronics UBSCDPLAY1 and it's available on Amazon for around $200. Just plug it in and insert a CD--it's that simple. The car recognizes all the tracks...

Service says $22k for new battery on 2012 Model S

My battery failed last year on my 2013. It was over a year out of warranty and my local service center replaced the battery for free. That's right...nothing.

    Need advice re: MCU

I have a 2013 Model S and the touchscreen is causing me all sorts of problems. It's been in and out of service 3 times in recent months for the touchscreen and the last time they replaced the daughter board. Everything was ok after the daughter board replacement but now the screen is starting to...

Help! Need advice regarding HV battery issue/replacement

Not sure what the attitude issue is here...but my car was charging to at least 252 before and I do recall a bit higher. I wasn't trying to mislead anyone. You might be a little more likable if you tone it down some.

Help! Need advice regarding HV battery issue/replacement

Just curious...why would the updates reduce the charging? Is it based on formulas/calcuations in the updates?

Help! Need advice regarding HV battery issue/replacement

You are right. Mine would go to about 252-255 before it went out. I was just thinking that a new battery would be 'new' in the sense that it would charge to 265 or so. I actually heard a story from one owner that said his replacement battery charged to 280!

    Tire inflation question

I just purchased Vredestein Quatrac Pro XL tires for my Model P85 Model S. So far they are the best handling tires I've put on the car. However, I've read that these should be inflated over 45psi (to around 50psi) due to the weight of the car. These tires have a max inflation of 51psi. I put...

Help! Need advice regarding HV battery issue/replacement

I have a 2013 Model S P85 and the HV battery went out completely. The good news is that it was still under warranty and the service center installed a new one. The new battery is even a 400V replacement (I'm not 100% but I think my old battery was 350V). The bad news is that after getting the...

Rockville Service Center - What's Going On?

Does anyone have any idea what is going on at the Rockville Service Center? Pardon the pun but they seem to be on 'autopilot' with no oversight or manager present. I just had to bring in my 2013 Model S to have the sunroof replaced due to the glass cracking. The replacement took about a week...

OP here---The new Rockville manager contacted me today and it looks like things are going to be resolved.

Service center scratched all of my rims installing snow tires!

I didn't buy aftermarket tires. I bought the same exact winter tires that Tesla sells--just from TireRack because the price was less expensive. By the way, I bought them from TireRack AT THE RECOMMENDATION of my Tesla service rep!

Service center scratched all of my rims installing snow tires!

I live in DC and wanted to be prepared for winter so I took advantage of the TireRack.com $60 off rebate and bought a set of Pirelli Sottozero snow tires. I am on my second Tesla Model S and have been babying my P85 since I picked it up over the summer so I'm VERY aware of every nick, ding...

Financing options available below 1.99%--and Alliant will match them

I'm in the process of trading in my 2013 Model S and was bummed that I was going to lose my 1.49% rate that I had since August 2013 so I started shopping around. Lo and behold...there is a local Maryland credit union (First Financial Federal Credit Union) out of the Baltimore area that has a...

Anyone bought Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS tires yet? 70k warranty!

I have close to 30k miles on my P85 and finally need new tires within a month. I've done a lot of research and am surprised that no one has mentioned Pirelli Cinturato P7s. They are 700AA rated and have a 70k mile warranty! The reviews on TireRack are insanely good with people stating that these...

I don't know if this is being covered somewhere in another post or not but I would like to know if there are any KNOWN issues/updates that should be SPECIFICALLY asked for during an annual inspection. Here's why I ask...Tesla recently called me and said I needed to bring in my car for an AC...

HELP! Loud bang from motor then car dead

My car has just over 22,000 miles on it now and I've had the main battery replaced once already (this is the second time the car has shut down on me). I bought a 'demo' car with 11,000 miles on it and I wonder if my issues are from excessive hard driving before I took ownership. The service...

HELP! Loud bang from motor then car dead

Just accelerated from a stop and heard a loud bang (it sounded like someone had hit me) then my Model S died. I am sitting at a gas station (how ironic) waiting for Tesla service to come get me. The car will not go into gear at all and the motor is making a high pitched whine. Anyone else been...

I've used a mobile detailing company, Triple D Detailing. They might be able to work a group discount deal and wash cars somewhere near the site (not exactly sure where). The tower is cool. You can see planes landing at Dulles from the tower fairly close. It's worth it to see. Another restaurant suggestion would be Sweetwater Tavern off of 50 in Fairfax. It's a good sized place with a big parking lot. Great food including "Ozzie rolls" which are little fried...

    @TeslaRoadTrip 2014 (Feb 15-17, 2014) - Dinner Event Signup & Details Available!

25 miles doesn't seem far but to those that live in Maryland it is. Traffic around the beltway can make this 25 mile trip close to an hour. It's a pain in the ass to get out there with traffic. If you are already in Virginia, no problem. Coming from the north is a different story. Also...

As someone who lives in the DC metro area I want to throw in my two cents on the Dulles Air and Space Museum...it is a great place to visit (a "must" in fact) but it is WAY out of town and not the best place to make a statement with this event. The other issue is parking. There are some awesome...

Any harm in leaving car plugged in for 1 week?

I am going on vacation for a week and was debating whether or not to leave the car charger in the port for a week. Someone please explain the "Get Amped" events (battery issue related--see post)

I think you may be right since the car I bought really was maxed out with options. That's what I originally thought when I bought it. Someone please explain the "Get Amped" events (battery issue related--see post)

My car had around 11,000 miles on it when I bought it. However, I got it at a substantial discount...really it was about $21,000 off the build price. In addition, there were some cosmetic issues (chips in the hood, a few scratches and a poorly fitted hatch) that Tesla addressed for me. It took a...

OP here with a final update...I picked up my car on November 1st from the service center--3 months to the day I first dropped it off. The replacement lift gate didn't quite solve the alignment issue 100%. I had to come to terms with the fact that the first 1300 cars produced had some...

OP here with an update. Tesla is shipping my local service center a newly manufactured lift-gate. I doubt it. They probably figure they've given me enough of a discount already. I'm not sure how this is going to play out. It's frustrating. You should work for the Tesla service center. You would be good in the position...just keep telling the customer that everything is fine. "No worries...it's barely noticeable". This sounds great on paper but it simply doesn't work. My car was $83k but the taxes and tags were another $5k = $88k. I bought a demo car because they took $21,000 off the price. Honestly, it was a no brainer. I got a P85 with leather, surround sound, tech, twin chargers, lacewood, alcantara headliner, active air suspension and carbon fiber spoiler for $83k.

I'm sure I must hold the record for the longest time Tesla's had a car in for service. All told, my car has been in for service for over 2 months. Anyone interested in selling their 3rd row seats?

My car has the reinforced bumper. It is VIN1205 and had the 3rd row seats installed originally. I bought it as a loaner because they gave me $23K off the price. Also, I now realize it has some features that are very unique like the Extended Nappa Leather Trim and Alcantara Headliner. These...

Anyone interested in selling their 3rd row seats?

Rockville will not sell them directly, They've been told they can't install them anymore. Apparently Tesla only wants the rear seats installed by the factory from now on. My only option is to find someone with a set they don't want anymore.

Anyone interested in selling their 3rd row seats?

I recently purchased a loaner P85 from Tesla inventory that was originally equipped with 3rd row seats. I have the snap in capability for seats but alas...no seats. Is there anyone out there that got 3rd row seats as an option but is willing to sell them? I'm in Silver Spring, Maryland and...
