Front Passenger Safety Restraint System Fault

Well, this has happened to my early Model 3, front passenger seat. Two services and they installed a filter, but the alert is still happening, and now they want to charge $2k for front seat replacement. Out of warranty.....

    Mirror Dimming Issue

I don't believe Time of day is being used, that would be just dumb. It's a sensor somewhere that's seeing the light. Just need to know where the sensor is and tape over it, as long as that's all it's being used for.

    Mirror Dimming Issue

Anyone figure out how to disable the auto-dimming? On the S, I had to put a sticker over a portion of the mirror to block the sensor, but don't know where the sensor is on the Model 3.I dislike auto-dimming mirrors.

Does Anyone Like Their Model S More Than Their Model 3?

Each car has pros and cons for me and I'm comparing an older early 2014 S no AP to a new 3. The S is bigger, more capacity and roomier for 5 adults. I don't think 5 adults can sit in the 3 comfortably, especially since I sit far back as a driver. 4 golf bags vs 2.5 golf bags I actually miss...

Cabin noise comparison: 12/2017 Model S vs 1/2018 Model 3

I feel like the M3 is significantly louder then my early 2014 S and I had various wind noise issues in the S that were resolved early on. Especially over 55 mph, there's this wind noise that doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere specific.

My first few days with the 3...

I feel like the Model 3 navi is more google maps like, as I've seen some weird navigations, but then when I checked my phone to verify, it was the same route. Wondering if this is the new navi system that Elon was talking about.

My first few days with the 3...

I actually miss not having a web browser in the Model 3. I used the Tesla Waze web site on the S and realized I can't do that on the 3. I'm finding the 3 noisier then the S when driving. The road noise seems louder or seems to come out more.

My first few days with the 3...

Add to the list: trip meter on the 3 is a very poor use of space. The car doesn't remember that I had the setting on the trip meter the last time, so I have to slide to see it from the other 4 screens. Also, I can't see all values at once. Trip A, Trip B, This trip, since last charge, and odometer.

My first few days with the 3...

That's a tough one, again my S doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles so both have pro's and con's. - I like the interior space of the S, but the comfort of the 3 seats. I like the smaller dimension of the 3 for parking. I like the trunk of the S better. So I think it will depend on the...

My first few days with the 3...

First observations, maybe I don't know how yet because I haven’t read the manual, but these are the things that I noticed compared to our early 2014 S, keep in mind my S is an older S with no autopilot, so I added which I liked better in which car. - 100% charge only charged to 306, 90% was 276...

    Ouch! First huge repair bill.

I've had my car for 2 years and my first annual they did the 24k service and the 2nd year they did the same 24k service. I have about 40k miles. In that service they did the brake fluid and such. I'd be very interested if this would have been covered under Extended warranty, but even still, I'm...

    Service backog, especially in CA....

Got my car back after a little over 2 weeks in for annual service. Looks like there was a service bulletin that they performed: Replace Battery Coolant Heater Due to potential low isolation. This is my second annual visit with about 39k miles. The first annual visit they did the 2nd annual...

    Service backog, especially in CA....

As a drive this BMW 528 series while my car sits at the service center with no activity for the last 5 days, I really wonder if this is a ploy to make me miss the car. If they couldn't look at my car for 5+ days, couldn't I have just been added to the queue and then dropped it off when they were...

Model S Refresh: License Holder Part of Bumper?

That's software. Different group of people, but I can understand the concern. :)

Model S Refresh: License Holder Part of Bumper?

Guys, do you really think Tesla would force an ugly license plate holder on us if it wasn't required? I'm fairly confident it's removable and the front is smooth when it's not on. Have a little faith in the designers at Tesla.

    Service backog, especially in CA....

Palo Alto, Fremont, and Burlingame are all equally bad unfortunately. Did not check Dublin. With 3 of them being a significant drive further to get to, so it would be even more of a hassle. In the Bay Area, we're "lucky" we have more Superchargers and we already have 4 service centers, but it...

    Service backog, especially in CA....

I know Elon said they are going to open more service centers, but things are pretty crazy in CA/Bay Area. Set an appointment for annual service and first available was over 1 month out. Then when I get to the appointment, they say they are very backlog and probably wont get to even have the car...

non oem wheels and tires 19, 20, 21 call for entries.

I have the 19" Potenza as my second set of tires and my wh/mile have gone up by about 10%. Just adding info.

Seeking forum help on choosing new tires

I have the 19" Bridgestone Potenza and my energy usage has gone up from about 320 to over 340. I'll have to look at the latest trip meter as I reset my A meter when I changed the tire. So I would say the OEM 19" Michelins were more efficient for me.

Model 3 Reservation Numbers Appearing in My Tesla

Tesla will either be in the phase out period in 2018, the govt might extend it, or since I'm an owner, I might be part of the earlier group who will still get the full credit. Either way for $7500 or $3750, it is better to be up front of the line for a $1000 deposit. Also, it's US sales not...

Model 3 Reservation Numbers Appearing in My Tesla

I understand how the tax credit works. Tesla will eventually hit the 200,000 car mark where the credits start to get phased out. So if I'm earlier on the list, there is more likely chance I will get the full credit.

Model 3 Reservation Numbers Appearing in My Tesla

The tax credit is the reason I did it. To save $7500 was worth 3 hrs to me.

OMG - Supercharging standard in all Model 3's - wowsers

I heard what you heard too. AP hardware included. AP safety features for everyone, but I think autopilot driving is extra. Supercharging included.... yikes.
  27. R

    How's your line?

Was at Burlingame, arrived at 9:30 AM, line was 300 person deep, but the time I got to the front of the line, I'd estimate another 200 behind me. So probably hit 500.
  28. R

Am I crazy to pass on a reservation?

The reasons I'm reserving is for the $7500. I view that a big enough discount to reserve early. If you don't, that credit may be gone by then.

    Using Superchargers for Local Charging

What about those free chargers at garages and shopping centers, even though you can charge at home? Would that not be similar that a Tesla could be preventing someone who really needs it?

Tesla's response to me leaking info about the P100D?

Great response and summary. As I said earlier, not that it matters, I think what you are doing is awesome. Calmer heads prevail.

Tesla's response to me leaking info about the P100D?

Never said no soot. And yes it's fun to speculate, but when it turns into: Tesla screwed me intentionally, I'm going to screw them back because I know exactly what they were trying to do or I'm calling my lawyer because I know Tesla did X on purpose.... that's when it gets a little much. Always...

Tesla's response to me leaking info about the P100D?

I believe I said, I think there is no intention. I guess you can spin that to say I'm saying there is an intention, if no intention is an intention. Sure just seems like people keep reading into things. We've seen it over and over many people were quick to say Tesla was out to screw...

Tesla's response to me leaking info about the P100D?

Wow, this thread is filled with lots of assumptions and very little facts, but that's fairly typical on this forum. No one except Tesla knows the intent, but I wouldn't be shocked if there was no intent. After all these years of guessing and speculating, no one really knows the upgrade cycle...

Ability to buy Tesla Warranty via website gone?

So.... can I group 10 different issues with one visit? Because they used to say that it's for the life of that item. Meaning if a door handle was replaced under the ESA, then it's covered through out the term of that ESA with no additional deductible.

Recent service visit and balloon squeal stance... overall good experience

Original floormats would move around and eventually get in the way. New floormats were thicker and had Velcro and something put into the floor for the Velcro to stick to.

Recent service visit and balloon squeal stance... overall good experience

2014 March delivery with about 33k+ miles Never had the balloon squeal in my car even in full acceleration, but about recently in the last maybe 5-10k it showed up and I started to hear it on a particular onramp to the freeway that I always floor it on because it's long and has an incline...

New owners and early adopter owners: Do I detect a major difference?

I consider myself a little bit of both. I lurked for quite sometime before joining. Received delivery in early 2014 before autopilot hardware, but after increases in things like Extended Service Contract and such. I'm thankful for the early buyers as I cancelled my order 3 times before finally...

    Risks of auto lock....

My mirrors fold in on auto-lock also, that's what I use as an indicator that the doors have successfully locked. That's also an easy way to notice at a supercharger where cars might not be locked, unless they don't have folding mirrors. That and if you see the green charging light stay on. You...

Disappointed with range estimate in first long term drive

Looking at all the various threads and from Tesla's site, the 85D is supposed to be more efficient than the 85, but everything I've seen seems to indicate worse. I average around 320-330 wh/mi in my 85.
  43. R

    Risks of auto lock....

No, these were at SC stations around CA. Interesting to see multiple other people have run into this. This is my PSA just to warn people not to overly rely on auto-lock, especially if you have stuff in the car. For door closing, I find the issue is more about the passenger not closing the door...

    Gonna bail - anyone else?

When I was looking for a car, I felt I was going to stretch for a car in the $40k-$50k. I wanted a Tesla, but it was just too expensive in principle. After looking for cars in that range, I couldn't find anything I liked that gave me the performance. I wanted a hybrid, just to feel like I was...

Disappointed with range estimate in first long term drive

Im in CA too and am spoiled by the warmer weather. I was stuck in the Tejon wait this holiday and wanting to free up my spot for others, I didn't charge as long as I would have. It was well past what the car said I needed with cushion. I got range anxiety pulling into the next stop because I...

    Risks of auto lock....

As I watched numerous drivers leave their car at superchargers, I noticed everyone relies on the autolock when they walk away. The problem is, I see that it would be very easy for someone to just walk up and open the door in the window you walk away at. The two people who just walked away didn't...

    Panoramic roof at freeway speeds.

I like it for the added headroom. I had an issue when closing the roof at speed that caused the roof not to seal correctly. Dealer said its a known issue, but I don't believe it's to be fixed.
  48. R

Is this normal, or an unusual amount of issues for a 3 week old car?

It's unfortunate that these things still exist. I took delivery on 3/2014 and had a list of issues that required the car to go in a number of times. When people ask me about the car, I tell them it's the best car ever, but there are still issues to be ironed out. Less and less people are going...

A Model S caught fire while supercharging in Norway (link in Norwegian)

I know ICEs cause a lot of fires and we like to compare them to our Tesla, does anyone have a measurement of cars 4 or 5 years or newer and catching on fire? That would be a better statistic to compare to Tesla. Comparing a 20 year old car with old parts and hoses isn't quite a fair comparison...

How long do you plan on keeping your Tesla?

Wish we had AP, but we tend to drive cars for as long as possible. The Accord we sold after 15 years and 220k miles on it. We have 2 other ICE cars now, one is 12+ years with 200k and another is 10 years with 120k miles on it. The miles have dropped since we have the Tesla as most miles are...
