    Model Y Cargo *cover*

Is there an after-market cargo cover for the Model Y.. something that hides the contents of what's behind the rear seats when parked (perhaps on road trips, or after making an expensive purchase)?

    VIN Assignment

sorry it took so long, 2018 I was told my car went from the line to me in just over a week. I also got my VIN wrong (sorry) it was 61xx

VIN 66xx (delivery is on 2/6)

    No recent VIN assignments?

Looks like we're taking delivery on the same day (2/6), is yours at macadam? (VIN 66xx) By the way, I never got a configuration invite, but I found my configuration form became active on 1/26! Super fast turn-around wouldn't you say ?

Wiki Model 3 Order Tracking Spreadsheet

Data point (spreadsheet is locked), I never received an invite to configure email, but I did notice configuration was open on the website, I configured on 1/26, Got a VIN on 1/31 (66xx) and am scheduled for delivery on 2/6! For the record, I used the form, and it duplicated my data...

    Tesla owner configurations begin

I completed my MVPA (Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement) on 10/7/2012, they left me in the dark for almost two months, then on 12/7 they quoted a delivery window of 12/15 - 12/31. They missed the window by two weeks. VIN: 3305 Those were the EARLY days though...

Just think of all the tiny tweaks and bugs that will be worked out by the time they get to our cars! (trying to look on the bright side)

    Tesla owner configurations begin

It's because the majority of those 100k were not current Model S/X Roadster owners, Tesla is going through their stated priorities, Current Owners / Geography
  11. jhs_7645

    Tesla owner configurations begin

I was replying to the notion that Tesla was prioritizing based on 'how long' you had been an owner.
  12. jhs_7645

    Tesla owner configurations begin

I can definitely say that they're not prioritizing based on early ownership :(

    Tesla owner configurations begin

I'm not going to get my hopes up that they're opening up deliveries to the great Columbia River Gorge just yet... my guess is that you're 'special' Bonnie, and they know it :)

    Tesla stock falls 7%

Here's the way I see it (re tax credit): Full Tax credit is limited to 200k (plus some Quarterly fidgeting) Tesla is close to that (150k or something?) Tesla has something like 600k reservations for the model 3 Depending on which quarter the tax credit phases out, a LOT of current reservation...

    POLL - Glass Roof

Interesting question. Here's one data point: I've never had an issue with condensation or fogging. FWIW, I'm not *really* cold climate (like mid-west type cold), but cold enough Washington.

    Pictures of production Model 3s

Yep, my car was largely unbadged when I got it. Pretty funny when you think about it. It came without the CF spoiler and rear badging (all added later).

    My prediction on Model 3/Tesla

What part of my argument was ignorant. Please.. detail it for me. I'm making the point that being good at production does not mean you're business is sound. And conversely, having a sound business model can be important even when you have 'learning' to do to ramp production. P.S. Ford made...

    My prediction on Model 3/Tesla

Here's a quiz: One of these companies declared bankruptcy in the last 10 years GM Tesla Tesla might or might not struggle to get the Model 3 up to production volumes GM certainly does not have a problem scaling mfg. If I were to bet with my $$ on a company that I think has a better business...

Opinion: Bottleneck won't just be parts or production

I took them about 1.5 hours to deliver my car (the delivery pic is my avatar) which included about 50 minutes of training and explaining things missing from the punch-list. It's been five years, so I think it's completely within the realm of possibility that they've improved the process.

Highest production VIN in the wild

Note that Elon said the design studio was for models to be configured *after* the current PuP cars. From subsequent tweets he said that you don't need a design studio to choose color and wheels. So, the design studio is not a blocker to early customer shipments.

Does Model 3 have GPS Enabled Homelink?

Drifting away from the topic a bit, I am seriously considering changing my system to a IFTTT / openHAB / myQ solution where I have openhab rules that trigger via IFTTT when I arrive home that check the state of the garage door and only open it if it's closed.
  23. jhs_7645

Does Model 3 have GPS Enabled Homelink?

Read the post I was replying to. I was replying to 'Skipping' auto open. I'm just saying that trying to cancel 'auto open' is a bit of a UI fail. Auto open works great when all the conditions are correct, but when they aren't... it's pretty annoying.

Do NOT try to buy an early employee Model 3 used any time soon....

    I didn't disagree? ??? I clicked 'informative'.
  25. jhs_7645

    Covered storage - premium only?

The armrest has storage underneath? I hadn't heard that.. that would be awesome. I miss that in my Model S. If that *were* the case, then I would actually prefer an open area under the screen (like my Model S) as it is so much more flexible for storing larger items than closed storage would be.

Do NOT try to buy an early employee Model 3 used any time soon....

^^^ This The employees getting the car now are most certainly getting versions of the software that have functionality that likely will never ship / beta features / bug reporting tools / diagnostic tools. My company often times releases software to employees that have features/etc.. that would...

    Phone as key without service?

Here is the entire quote I see now.. I read it as 'you won't be able to do anything else' was definitive. Maybe my point is then.. why would it matter if your phone can't do the things you say it can't do since you can do them all from the touch screen? People are freaked out enough about...
  28. jhs_7645

    Phone as key without service?

I think you are mistaken. You can do everything else via the touchscreen once you've used the phone to get in your car.
  29. jhs_7645

Does Model 3 have GPS Enabled Homelink?

One of the worst things to actually use on the Model S. This happens *ALL THE TIME*... I'll be driving up to my driveway. I approach my house in a way that causes me to turn *left* into my driveway. To do this safely, I need to cross the street and the sidewalk, watching for oncoming cars...

    POLL - Glass Roof

I can't remember off the top of my head (no pun intended), but the roof has enough tint that you will not need to tint your roof, and your head will not tan. UPDATE: Looking around the inter tubes, seems the Model S roof is 100% UV blocking. I can't find a link from Tesla, but I'm sure...

How Secure is the Key Card?

I'm confused, how could Tesla (or anybody else) have solved the issue of "I want to leave my key (or in this case my 'phone' acting as a key) in my purse, in my car and walk away and have it be locked". The only way to do that would be to have another key. Otherwise you would lock your only...
  35. jhs_7645

    POLL - Glass Roof

I might be wrong, but I would not assume a glass panel on the roof is more expensive to repair than a dent in a steel roof (depending on the severity of the dent). And, when all is said and done, your car will be as good as new, whereas a dent will always be a dent. Also, your roof is...

    Pictures of production Model 3s

Almost five years in... I still don't see a single scratch or buff line on my 'white' non-baller ride. Not too many black cars appearances fare that well.

How Secure is the Key Card?

Perhaps things are different in Germany, but in the US almost every business, secure parking garage, etc.. is locked with electronic locks requiring a card key to access it. They are *very* common, and have literally been around for decades. I have four of them right now: 1) Is my company...

How Secure is the Key Card?

For non Tesla owning people fretting about Model 3 usability/features/etc... I'd like to share my thoughts after > 4.5 years of Model S ownership. There will be a few "%$*@%!!&%" moments here and there, you can try to guess what they will be now, but you'll probably be wrong. But, there will...

How Secure is the Key Card?

If your claim is that every feature needs to behave exactly the way the 'analog' version of that feature behaved, or that you shouldn't need to consult a manual for proper use, then I don't think we will ever agree with what is 'easy' to understand and what is not.
  43. jhs_7645

How Secure is the Key Card?

Did you read my post? You said: To which I linked to the manual for the keycard: I bolded the 'and lock' part. Now you know how to lock your car.
  44. jhs_7645

How Secure is the Key Card?

You own a model S. How do you lock your car? My car locks itself when I walk away, or I can hit the button on the screen from the inside if I'd like. In over four years of ownership I don't think I've ever actually *locked* my car from the outside. I have, however, had to unlock my car...

Why is that difference even relevant? The phone is a 'superset' of functionality, so yes.. it replaces the card key.

    Model 3 Spot Welding FUD

I could not find much information about Michael Tracy of Agile Group (other than "Agile Group" is a company of one, and has been for 23 years). Aside from his membership in various consortiums and industries, I couldn't find where his expertise comes from. Grain of salt perhaps.

How Secure is the Key Card?

This thread seems kind a nuts to me. Does *anybody* use an RFID card key to access a parking lot/ building/ office / parking garage / etc... How hard is *that* to understand? Those things are handed out for everything (I have two in my wallet right now), and have been for DECADES. I just...

NVIDIA Unveils "First" AI Computer for Level 5 Driverless Vehicles

That's not true (for me). I don't even know what they might have to do to the car in the future, or what they might charge for FSD. I gave Tesla a 5K deposit a year and a half before they even made my Model S (VIN 3305) because I believed in what they were doing and hoped that they would...

NVIDIA Unveils "First" AI Computer for Level 5 Driverless Vehicles

Is it the $$ or is it the promise? If it's the money, then I would recommend *not* giving them the additional $3,000 and waiting and seeing. I understand that Tesla *says* that they will deliver FSD for an additional 3k, but I'm skeptical that it will rise to the level of 'your car will drive...
